The grey paint looks like more to a "wallpaper" that they stick on the deck with probably rcs reduction capabilities. The form it has can be seen on western ships. I don't know if you see what I means.

Keep in mind that Caspian fleet uses different shade of gray than rest of the navy. Much brighter one.

I expect so, but we cant know for sure, Peter the Great never got its deck repainted, its always being just repainted by base protective paint of redish color. But since some of the Buyans got repainted i expect all to be.

Project 21361 for now will keep its existing air defence systems, maybe sometimes in future it recieves navalised Pancirs, but for now doesnt seem like it.

A new Project 21631 BUYAN-M class missile ship will be laid down at Zelenodolsk on the 24th of April.

Grad is ''hale'' in Russian (among others). This is new trend, so far they have been naming them after cities and towns.

Then again they stopped naming Karakurts after meteorological terms and switched to adjectives for the newest one.

So it looks like Zelenodolsk will be sticking with Buyan class. Makes sense if they solved engine issues. They are more than good enough for Black Sea, Caspian and Baltic fleets.

And as expected:

Missile ship GRAD has been laid down today at Zelenodolsk....with possible NAVAL PANTSIR.

Behind Buyan-M ships is also 22160 class ship, which is painted and have the main gun installed. It looks like it is ready to be launched.

with possible NAVAL PANTSIR.

Kinda odd they don't put the weapons on the plate but it looks like maybe a manual drawing/etching rather than the laser cut style seen on some other ships so perhaps not too surprising to have a simplified profile?

The 22160 was supposed to be launching in March.

Interesting that the mast/radar is on in the earlier pic at Zenelodolsk

So maybe that is actually fairly easily dismounted after-all? (and therefore the possibility of regular relocation via the river/canal system )

The Vishny Volchek is now in Novorossisk to complete the state trails before acceptance into service.
Apparently, it will be assigned to the Black Sea Fleet.

I'm surprised that they transferred two of them to Baltic Fleet, not exactly their usual environment.

They probably wanted to give Baltic Fleet something fresh to ride around. I can't see them sticking around too long up there, especially once Karakurts start arriving.

Tartus has plenty of space now so they might be heading south down the road.

I think those two Buyans in Baltic will return to Black Sea, when Baltic fleet receive their Karakurts. For the last three of them I think they will go to Caspian fleet as it was planed before to increase Caspian LACM capabilities. After all, cruise missiles from Caspian sea reach very deep in Asian continent.

There is no thread for Project 21630: Buyan-class corvette I guess. So I'm asking it here.

Is there any plan to build further Buyan ships? Those are some cute tiny little devils with 40 Grad rockets. Pretty effective within its range and fire support during amphibious landing. I think the payload can be increased from 40 to 60-80 Grads. With the elimination of 100mm main gun, it can be replaced with 57mm single or twin barreled gun. Or maybe even just an AK-630! Because the main fire support will come from Grads. Also these are shallow draft ships so it can go to rivers with ease. USC could offer it for export as well.

Hard to say. It does appear there will only be 9 of them not 12 as some had reported. Perhaps 3 each, time will tell but in my opinion the Baltic needs some Kalibar launchers. And the 22800 from construction sites appears to be 8 for the Black Sea / Caspian, 4 for the Baltic and 6 for the Pacific.

And they were purchased in a batch of 3. The contract has been signed. They definitely will be completed.

Not likely.
The Grad armament is kinda cool but very much a quirky situational weapon.
Buyan-M with its UKSK has a much broader applicability.
If anything I'd have thought there is a possibility of selling the Buyans & fill in the Caspian flotilla to 6* -Ms.

I wonder if they'll gradually concentrate the -Ms to the Caspian to maximise the potential strategic throw-weight there as other UKSK ships come online.
Might need to limit numbers if the other Caspian countries aren't too keen though.
