We don't seem to have a civilian shipbuilding thread so I'll post this here...maybe the thread should be renamed to include news about other civilian ships

Shipyard "Lotus" to build two (river) cruise ships for the company "Gama"

more details on project PKS 180 "Golden Ring" (in Russian)

Unlike previous ships of this class, these two () are designed to be able to access the shallower rivers and waterways of Siberia and the Far East.

The first one is planned to be laid down in 2019....they're BIG bastards. Apparently they will have the option to arm them with Kalibr's, Onyx, Zircon and Redut for Airdefence

Construction of the lead icebreaker planned at the Kerch shipbuilding plant "Zaliv". At the enterprise we are going to start to issue a license to the atomic shipbuilding after receiving the input data for the project "Leader".

2,3,4: Forming the hull of the "Ural" - the 3rd nuclear-powered LK-60Ya-class icebreaker, July 2018.
Photo 1: "Arktika" the lead icebreaker. Photo 5: "Siberia", "Arktika" and "Akademik Lomonosov" floating nuclear power plant.
These icebreakers will be the largest icebreakers in the world, albeit all the rest icebreaking giants were built either by the Soviet Union or Russia Wink

Currently, only Soviet Union & Russia had ever built or operated the nuclear-powered icebreaking fleet.

Vyborg Shipyard launches port icebreaker Ob built for FSUE Atomflot

According to Mustafa Kashka, Chief Engineer and First Deputy General Director of FSUE Atomflot, the Ob icebreaker will be the first non-nuclear-powered icebreaker of Atomflot.

“Despite the absence of nuclear power plant, the icebreaker is powerful enough and features exclusive maneuverability that will let it perform the entire scope of works in the Gulf of Ob. The ship is equipped with an innovative propulsion unit”, added Mustafa Kashka.

    Agreed, quite a change there.

As for icebreakers originally there were supposed to be 5 Arktika-class and 2 Leader-class but it looks like they opted for 3 Arktikas and 3 Leaders.

6 instead of 7 but this way half of those 6 will be behemoths thumbsup

The 3 Arktikas are already the largest/powerfulst ice breakers in the world. With the Leader you can travel to the North Pole in december.
