The Navy in 2023 will receive a nuclear submarine "Emperor Alexander III"
The fleet will also include four submarines and 12 surface ships and support vessels.
MOSCOW, 30 December. /TASS/. In 2023, the Russian Navy will fulfill the tasks of receiving the Project 955A (Borey-A) nuclear submarine strategic missile cruiser (APRK) Imperator Alexander III, four submarines and 12 surface ships. This was stated on Friday by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
“In 2023, the Navy faces large-scale and important tasks, the priority of which is the adoption of the Imperator Alexander III ballistic missile strategic cruiser, four submarines, 12 surface ships and support vessels into the Navy,” the admiral said. Evmenov in his New Year's address to the personnel of the fleet.
The Commander-in-Chief also recalled that the Navy continues to work on other types of high-precision weapons and missile systems. Marine divisions are to be formed next year.
On December 21, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at the final board of the military department that Russia needs to form five divisions of marines in the coastal troops of the Navy on the basis of existing brigades.
The nuclear submarine "Emperor Alexander III" was launched on December 29. This is the seventh missile carrier of the Borey-A family of Russian strategic nuclear submarines. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony.
APRK (SSBN) is capable of carrying 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles. The start of sea trials of the submarine missile carrier "Emperor Alexander III" is planned for June next year. As part of the current state armament program, it is planned to build and transfer four more submarines of the Borey-A project.

I have to add my opinion unrelated to the text above;
* Submarine K-549 "Knyaz Vladimir" (955A) was launched on November 17, 2017, while it entered active service on June 12, 2020.
* Submarine K-552 "Knyaz Oleg" (955A) was launched on July 16, 2020, while it entered active service on 21 December 2021,
* Submarine K-553 "Generalissimus Suvorov" was launched on January 11, 2022, while it entered active service from December 29, 2022.
Therefore, the period from launching to the introduction into active service for this class of submarines has been drastically reduced.
* At the top of the text, 4 submarines are mentioned and my opinion is that they are the following submarines; K-571 "Krasnoyarsk" (885M), K-XXX "Emperor Alexander III" (955A), B-586 "Kronshtadt" (677), B-XXX "Mozhaysk" (636.3).

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the shooting was carried out from a submerged position from the White Sea at the Kura training ground in Kamchatka.
MOSCOW, 3 November. /TASS/. Nuclear submarine cruiser "Generalissimo Suvorov" has successfully fired a ballistic missile "Bulava" as part of the final stage of state tests. This was reported to journalists on Thursday in the Russian Defense Ministry.
"The crew of the newest strategic missile submarine Generalissimo Suvorov of the Borey-A project successfully fired the Bulava ballistic missile as part of the final stage of state tests," the military department said.
As specified in the Russian Ministry of Defense, the shooting was carried out from a submerged position from the White Sea at the Kura training ground in Kamchatka. "The flight of the Bulava ballistic missile took place in the normal mode. According to the confirmed objective control data, the warheads of the missile successfully arrived in the designated area of the Kura battlefield," they stressed.
Earlier, General Director of the Northern Machine-Building Enterprise (Sevmash, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) Mikhail Budnichenko told TASS that the Project 955A strategic nuclear submarine Generalissimo Suvorov was being prepared for transfer to the fleet.
Nuclear submarine strategic cruiser "Generalissimo Suvorov" belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear-powered ships of the improved project "Borey-A" (designer - St. Petersburg Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering "Rubin"). The project implemented fundamentally new technical solutions, improved equipment, reduced the level of physical fields, increased security, and completed a set of works on import substitution.
"Generalissimo Suvorov" was laid down at the Sevmash plant on December 26, 2014, and was taken out of the shed on December 25, 2021. It is planned that the submarine will replenish and strengthen the grouping of nuclear submarines of the Pacific Fleet.

Re: Project 955: Borei class SSBN #2
Today is the tenth anniversary of the first raising of the flag of St. Andrew on the submarine "Yuri Dolgorukiy"
January 0, 06:00
TASS
"Yuri Dolgoruky": how the first submarine "Borey" opened the way for ships of the 4th generation
We are talking about the creation of the first strategic nuclear submarine of the Borey project
"The guarantor of the global balance of security for Russia and its allies," is what Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Yury Dolgoruky nuclear submarine. January 10 marks ten years since the first missile carrier of the 21st century entered the Navy of the Russian Federation. January 10, 2013 was a historic day in the life of the Severodvinsk plant "Sevmash" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation), the fleet and industry as a whole. The hoisting of the St. Andrew's flag on this ship opened the era of the country's new nuclear submarine fleet - quieter, more powerful and more digital.
The birth of the nuclear submarine
On the day of the Yury Dolgoruky nuclear submarine's withdrawal, Vladimir Zdornov, at that time the general director of the Rubin design bureau, said: "This ship, like a child, was born in pain." The first 4th generation strategic missile carrier was laid down in 1996. It was a period when the economy began to collapse in the country, partner enterprises were closed ... But the management of Sevmash had no doubts that the plant would build this ship.
"The idea of building a strategic nuclear submarine of the 4th generation appeared back in the mid-1980s. A resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers was issued in November 1985. The Central Design Bureau of MT Rubin, headed by General Designer S.N. Kovalev, began design research Nuclear submarines of the 4th generation. Then the country had stability, the defense industry was on the rise," Mikhail Budnichenko, general director of the Sevmash Production Association, said in an interview with TASS.
Only 11 years later, the laying of the ship took place - on November 2, 1996. “It was a borderline time for our enterprise and for the further development of the entire fleet as a whole. As time has shown, the decision to build the Yury Dolgoruky nuclear submarine was timely, which made it possible not to lose a lot: cooperation between enterprises, personnel potential, and, in the end, people’s faith in the future," Budnichenko said, noting that this was a great merit of David Husseinovich Pashayev, who at that time headed the plant.
According to him, the cooperation that existed within the framework of the allied Minsudprom was almost completely destroyed. "She was literally restored bit by bit - jointly with the designer - Central Design Bureau MT" Rubin ", with the support of the Navy and the Ministry of Defense. At this critical time, the leadership of Sevmash and the design bureau were born non-standard, talented technical solutions that literally saved the ship .
The idea of using the backlog on the hull structures of the unfinished submarines of project 971 and 949A made it possible to advance in the construction of the Yury Dolgoruky nuclear submarine. The formation of its corps was completed in 2004.
According to Budnichenko, the new leadership of the country, headed by Russian President Putin, began to pay due attention to national security issues and support for the defense industry. “I would like to note that Vladimir Vladimirovich first visited Sevmash while still in the position of prime minister in 1999 on the withdrawal of the Gepard nuclear submarine from the shed, and two years later, in 2001, he was present at the raising of the naval flag on this ship” , - said the head of Sevmash.
He also stressed that in the 2000s, funding for the state defense order was established, and a clear prospect for the construction of 4th generation nuclear submarines for the coming decades lined up. “Sergey Nikitich Kovalev once said: “The country’s leadership has come to understand that state interests must be protected by force, and not just by playing democracy.” I am sure that without the creation of a strong fleet there can be no Russian statehood,” Budnichenko said.
The value of the nuclear submarine
The head of "Sevmash" is confident that the nuclear submarine "Yuri Dolgoruky" has opened the way for ships of the 4th generation. "January 10, 2013 was a historic day in the life of the plant, fleet and industry as a whole. We all proved that unity and focus on results under any, even the most critical, circumstances is the path to success. Of course, this day is for us, the plant workers , for designers and sailors was the happiest," Budnichenko emphasized.
Since then, Sevmash has built and handed over to the fleet two more nuclear submarines of the Borey project - Alexander Nevsky and Vladimir Monomakh. "Yuri Dolgoruky" went like an experimental ship. “A lot of things were completely new on it - the architecture of the hull, electronic weapons systems, modern technical achievements were used to improve the hydrodynamics of the hull,” said Budnichenko. “The next two ships went through the slipway period much faster. Now all three ships are serving in the Northern and Pacific fleets. We follow their fate, carry out service maintenance of our ships. Sailors highly appreciate modern 4th generation cruisers."
It took four years to debug and test the ship's prototype weapons at sea. “I feel like this ship and I have passed along the edge of the abyss, behind which we could have lost nuclear submarine shipbuilding,” said Nikolai Semakov, responsible deliverer of the Yury Dolgoruky nuclear submarine. “In any direction, when we started working, everywhere we had to start with and where it can be done, and where it can be obtained, and how it will work.
And now, it’s probably not a secret that the end of many R&D projects (experimental design work - TASS note) was simply transferred to the ship, and the fact that this cooperation was launched at one time - after all, it also went pretty hard. When all this half-baked, let's say, came to the ship, and all this was already brought on the ship, in parallel with our work, in parallel with preparations for testing.
On January 10, 2013, simultaneously with the hoisting of the naval flag on the Yury Dolgoruky, the R-30 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was put into service - the main weapon of submarines of this class. At the same time, its flight design tests continued for several more years. Nevertheless, "Bulava" has proved its efficiency and effectiveness. According to open sources, the ICBM is a three-stage solid-propellant missile capable of carrying six individually targetable warheads. The total cast weight is 1,150 kg. Each submarine of the Borey and Borey-A projects is capable of carrying up to 16 such missiles.
Currently, the Borei's line is continued by ships of the modernized series. According to the Borey-A project, Sevmash built and handed over to the fleet three ships - Knyaz Vladimir, Knyaz Oleg and Generalissimus Suvorov. "Several more nuclear submarines of this series are at different stages of construction. The construction of a line of ships of the Borey and Borey-A projects can be called an outstanding achievement of the domestic defense industry, symbolizing the beginning of a new stage in its development. The creation of these ships demonstrates the ability of our country to modern maintain the potential of its strategic nuclear forces and implement complex technological programs on a national scale," Budnichenko said.

"Generalissimo Suvorov" began the transition to the place of temporary deployment
The nuclear-powered missile submarine left Severodvinsk the other day, a source close to the military said.
MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. The Project 955A (Borey-A) nuclear-powered strategic missile submarine Generalissimo Suvorov is making its transition to a temporary base in the Northern Fleet. This was reported to TASS by two sources close to the military department.
"Recently, the submarine cruiser Generalissimo Suvorov has started moving from Severodvinsk, where it was located at the Sevmash shipyard, to a temporary base for the Northern Fleet," one of the agency's interlocutors specified.
The submarine will serve in the Pacific Fleet and in the future will make another transition - to the place of permanent deployment. "Usually, transitions to the base point in Kamchatka are carried out in the summer along the Northern Sea Route. According to existing practice, they are carried out accompanied by groups of ships of the Northern and Pacific Fleets in their areas of responsibility," the agency's interlocutor said.
TASS does not have official confirmation of this information.
About the submarine
"Generalissimo Suvorov" belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear-powered ships of the improved project "Borey-A" (designer - St. Petersburg Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering "Rubin"). The second serial submarine missile carrier of project 955A. The project implemented fundamentally new technical solutions, improved equipment, reduced the level of physical fields, increased security, and completed a set of works on import substitution.
The submarine was laid down at the Sevmash shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) on December 26, 2014, and was taken out of the shed on December 25, 2021. On December 29, 2022, the ship became part of the Russian Navy.
To date, Sevmash shipbuilders have handed over to the fleet six "strategists" of the Borey and Borey-A projects - three of the first and three of the second. The main weapon of the strategic missile carriers of this project is 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles on each.
