I would love to see an update of Apache Havoc and Commanche Hokum... for a while it looked like the Havoc and Hokum were going to be paper aircraft, but it turns out only the Commanche is.

Well that was 6 billion dollars of paper, and not in paper dollars.

Where will Black Sea fleet station their Su-30SM fighters? in Crimea or in Krasnodar region? Also there is a question if regiment of Su-27 will be modernized to Su-27SM standard.

Renovation of Krymsk airfield complete, first group of Su-27SM3 and Su-30M2 already redeployed. New to me is M2 bort 50. Also the two recently upgraded Su-27P to SM3 standard (63, 64) are also part of the Krymsk unit.

Russia’s air force is set to establish an operational airbase in western Belarus, Commander-in-Chief Viktor Bondarev said on Monday.

“We will set up a base in Baranovichi. We are only waiting for an intergovernmental agreement to be signed,” he said. Su-27 fighter planes will be based there, he added.

Hi guys! Has someone information regarding the number of su-27 serving with the VVS?
    I had those numbers:

    Su-27=160

    SU-27SM=57

    SU-27SM3=12

But apart from the SU-27SM3 i think that the others are wrong.

Russian Su-27 Airbase to Be Set Up in Belarus in 2016: Air Force Chief

KAZAN, October 15 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian airbase for Sukhoi Su-27 fighter aircraft is to be set up in Belarus in 2016, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force Viktor Bondarev said Wednesday.

“A Russian Air Force base will be created in 2016. It will hold Su-27 fighter aircraft,” Bondarev told journalists during a working visit to construction projects of the Russian Air Force.

The Russian fighter jets will be based at a military airfield in the city of Bobruisk, Bondarev said, adding that a technical plan for the field’s reconstruction is already in place.

Will they order more Su-27 to be modernized to Su-27SM standard for Belarus air base or they will place standard Su-27 fighters there?

It will be Russian AF Flankers based there... I suspect they will be Su-27SMs... any old Su-27P or Su-27S aircraft will likely be withdrawn from service soon enough as new upgraded models and brand new aircraft replace them.

It seems those Su-27SM, which come to Crimea are from Far East regiments (Habarovsk or Nakhodka regiment). Most probably from Habarovsk, because they are getting replaced with a full regiment of Su-35 there.

Best planes after PAK-50 in Russian Air Force. Sukhoi Su-30 and Su-34 after that.
Maybe Russia have best planes in world.
    Best concurrent is United States.

An interesting video made in November 2014 on board of patrol aircraft Lockheed P-3C Orion Air Portugal to the Baltic Sea, shows his support for the interception and the Russian Su-27 fighter. The Su-27 (tail number "90 red", registration number RF-33740, serial number 29413, the name "Gregory Rechkalov") belongs to the 1st Fighter Squadron 72th Guards Air Novgorod-Klaipeda Red Banner named Marshal II Borzova base of the Baltic Fleet aviation, currently at the airport Chernyakhovsk (Kaliningrad region).

It's difficult to say. Su-27SM3 could either use N001VEP, either Zhuk-MS radar. They have quite similar capabilities.

Well it obviously use new processor and compatible with new weapons. Detection range figure however is kinda sketchy.

    Anyway is "Su-30MK3" A real thing ?

    http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/new-su-30mk3-flight-tested-182372/

This "MK3" variant use Zhuk MSE radar instead of N001 family and slated for China.

With MiG-29K/KUB coming in RuNAVY (all 24 will be delivered to the end of this year and I hope they will order more for rotation in carrier duty), Su-33 will become ground based fighter to protect Arctic door into Russian polar sea. Su-33 are quite new, as they were produced in mid nineties and Kuz went quite rarely on the sea and only with a half of the fleet, what enable their rotation on the carrier. They have better corrosion protection and reinforced structure and landing gear for carrier operations, so they could easily serve as ground based fighters for another two decades. With modernization to Su-27SM3 standard and maybe equipped with Zhuk-MS radar, they will be prefect to operate from extended Arctic bases and to cooperate their interceptions and operations with MiG-31BM. Small airbase in Franc Joseph islands could be such base, where 4 planes will be stationed.
