    The BRM-3K is derived from the BMP-3 but don't believe any are in service yet. Strictly for sale at the Expo.

    I always wondered why the 57mm turret for the T-15 didn't come with same air defense capabilities as the Derivatsiya-PVO, unless I'm mistaken?

    It can use the gun against air targets, just as any vehicle with a 30mm gun (BMP-2, BTR-82...) can use it for air defence. Not as good/precise as a dedicated AD vehicle but good enough to hit drones and scare off helicopters.  Very Happy

    Those two use the same basic gun, but with different cooling and installation. The station in the Derivatsiya allows higher rate of fire (120 /min vs 80, if I am not wrong) and higher ammo load, maybe also the types of ammo are different (the coil at the end of the barrel probably is there to allow programing of delay fuzzes upon shooting), while the T-15 is a more versatile, lighter with smaller hull impact and probably cheaper type more focused on land targets. Still it can be extremely dangerous for air targets, due to very long range (way in excess of 5 km), ballistics, size of the shell and probably the possibility of using guided rounds. Such organic AD capability in the Russian ground formations both by Derivatsiya and even more T-15 renders NATzO war plans based on air power and subsonic guided ammunition simply useless

    The 57mm gun on the 2S38 has a serious muzzle brake to reduce recoil and vibration during fire for better accuracy at greater ranges but I suspect also contains coils for measuring muzzle velocity and also likely fuse setting induction coils.

    Generally speaking APFSDS or sabot rounds don't like muzzle brakes because they effect the sabot petals as they separate and can effect accuracy and even do some damage to the gun and the projectile.

    With that four gun turret... do we know if they are rifle calibre or HMG calibre?

    Post  franco Sat Sep 03, 2022 2:50 pm

    Turning to the agenda of the meeting, Sergei Shoigu proposed to sum up the results of the International Military-Technical Forum "ARMY" and the International Army Games.

    On August 21, the military-technical forum "ARMY-2022" completed its work.

    It was attended by military delegations from 85 foreign states, including 31 high-level ones.

    About 1.5 thousand domestic and foreign companies demonstrated over 28.5 thousand samples of military and dual-use products.

    160 bilateral meetings were held with foreign partners on issues of military and military-technical cooperation.

    340 events of the scientific and business program were held with the participation of almost 22 thousand experts.

    36 state contracts were concluded with enterprises of the military-industrial complex for an amount exceeding 525 billion rubles.

    Within the framework of international military-technical cooperation, the portfolio of orders amounted to 592 million 650 thousand dollars and 1 billion 770 million rubles.

    Almost 2 million people visited the exhibition grounds in a week.

    The International Army Games were held simultaneously with the Forum.

    “For eight years, they have fully proved their worth as an effective form of improving combat training, and have become a popular platform for the exchange of experience between the armies of the world,” the Minister of Defense noted.

    This year 270 teams from 34 countries participated in the competition. For the first time, the contests covered the territories of three continents.

    More than 5.3 thousand military personnel were involved, as well as more than 1 thousand units of armored and automotive equipment, aircraft, surface ships and ships.

    20 world records have been set, 10 of them belong to the Russian team, which won the Army Games Cup for the eighth time.

    Representatives of the armed forces of Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and China also showed good results.

    “I want to thank the organizers of the Forum and the Games for the high level of preparation for these important international events,” Sergei Shoigu said.

    * * *

    The First International Anti-Fascist Congress took place within the framework of the Forum.

    It was attended by statesmen and public figures, historians, representatives of culture and the media community, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and juvenile prisoners of concentration camps, nine foreign delegations, as well as military attachés from 26 countries.

    The speakers called for unconditional condemnation of any manifestations of fascism, neo-Nazism and chauvinism in the modern world, spoke in favor of uniting efforts in countering the falsification of history and the glorification of war criminals.

    “Given the relevance of the issues raised at the congress, as well as the great interest of the general public in it, it was decided to hold such meetings annually,” the head of the military department said.

    Sergei Shoigu also added that a collection of materials based on the results of the event is already being prepared for publication. It will be sent to the educational organizations of the Ministry of Defense for use in the educational process.

    * * *

    Further, the Minister of Defense proposed summing up the results of the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security, which took place on 16 August.

    It brought together over 700 delegates from 70 countries and six international organizations. Among them are heads of defense departments, leading Russian and foreign military experts.

    The central topic of the discussion was the formation of a new security architecture in the context of the formation of a multipolar world.

    Speaking at the forum, the heads of the military departments declared their support for the foreign policy line of the Russian leadership and their intention to develop military and military-technical cooperation with Russia.\

    "Thus, the conference showed that the attempts of the West to isolate our country turned out to be pointless," the head of the military department stated.
