MOSCOW, February 16. /TASS/. Russian combat engineers have defused over 580 explosive objects in Laos, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.

"Servicemen of the International Anti-Mine Center of the Russian Armed Forces discovered over 580 explosive objects during a humanitarian mine clearance in the area of Thong Hai Hin airport in the Xiangkhouang province (the Lao People's Democratic Republic)," the statement said.

According to the agency, the explosive objects found by the Russian deminers are of the BLU-26, BLU-63 and BLU-3B types of US-made aerial cluster bombs as well as artillery ordnance of various calibers.

The mission’s personnel is equipped with advanced means of protection and tools for detection of explosive devices. "The specialists of the Russian team use modern domestic tools for search, detection and protection, such as the IMP-3 induction mine detector, the MG -1I deep-earth metal detector, the MBI-P2 magnetometric bomb detector and the PPO-2I subsurface detector," the Defense Ministry specified.

Sadly those 580 munitions might have been delivered in two or three bombs... there is a lot of work left to be done there and in a lot of other places around the world.

Laos is the most heavily bombed country in the world... but it is OK because they are freedom bombs delivered by America...

Not to detract from what these guys are doing... it is very important and dangerous work that is restoring normal life to the people who live in that part of the world.

Russian military engineers trained 30 deminers from Laos in modern demining skills and familiarized them with domestic mine action equipment as part of a training course at the branch of the International Mine Action Center (IPC of the RF Armed Forces) in this country. "In the course of the training, the graduates learned to use Russian means of searching for explosive objects, previously donated by the Russian Federation, as well as to identify and destroy detected ammunition in various ways."
