Uralvagonzavod received a new state contract for the supply of T-90M tanks to the troops

The share of T-90M main battle tanks in the Russian army will increase, Uralvagonzavod has received a new contract for the production of a new batch of this armored vehicle. The agreement was signed within the framework of the Army-2022 forum.

The Ministry of Defense increased the state defense order for the main battle tanks T-90M, the state contract was received by the general director of UVZ Alexander Potapov. In addition to the supply of T-90M, the concern received a contract for overhaul with the modernization of T-80BV tanks, the parameters of the contracts have not yet been disclosed.

Also, the state contract for the overhaul of infantry fighting vehicles BMP-2 with modernization was received by the "103rd armored repair plant", located in the Chita region of Transbaikalia. The parameters of the contract are also not disclosed.

As explained in the Ministry of Defense, the state defense order was adjusted taking into account the experience of combat use of equipment in the framework of a special military operation in Ukraine, the capabilities of the Russian defense industry and the economic situation in the country. The emphasis will be placed on the purchase of new modern equipment and weapons, as well as on the modernization of existing models.

The T-90M tank was developed as part of the Breakthrough-3 development work and is a deep modernization of the T-90 with an increase in combat and operational characteristics. During the modernization, a new turret module with a 125-mm cannon of increased survivability and accuracy was installed on the T-90M. The turret is equipped with a 12.7 mm remote-controlled machine gun mount. The new tank is equipped with a highly automated digital fire control system.

Judging by the videos that appeared on the Web, the T-90M tank is used by Russian troops as part of the NMD, although the T-72B3 and its modifications still remain the main vehicle.

Interesting, so they ordered Su-34's (I'm guessing to replace the lost Su-24's, 34's during conflict) but no order for Su-35 or more pakfa? For the life of me, I don't remember jets being ordered during the Army showcases. Always assumed it only happened during MAKS?

MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. Russia plans to build and upgrade thousands of tanks, the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has said.

"Yesterday, as you know, our enemy was begging for planes, missiles and tanks abroad. What should we do in response? It is clear that in this case it is natural for us to increase the production of various types of weapons and military equipment, including modern tanks," Medvedev said at a meeting during a visit to the Omsk transport engineering plant, according to the video footage uploaded to his Telegram channel.

"The production and upgrade of thousands of tanks are on the agenda," Medvedev said, adding that this task stemmed from the from the state defense order and decisions made by the Russian president.

As follows from the video, while inspecting the plant Medvedev saw, among other things, the upgraded T-80BVM tank - an upgraded version of the T-80BV. It boasts an improved 125-millimeter gun. The gas turbine engine’s power is up to 1,250 hp. Also, the tank has a multi-channel gunner sight, the driver's observation device and an armament stabilizer. The armor is reinforced with anti-cumulative lattice screens, as well as modular dynamic protection. The deliveries of T-80BVM to the Russian army began in 2019.

The footage of Medvedev's visit to the plant also showed the TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system manufactured at the Omsk plant.

the upgraded T-80BVM tank - an upgraded version of the T-80BV. It boasts an improved 125-millimeter gun.

Wonder what they do with the old stuff they take out like the old 125mm guns that can't fire the new ammo any more, or the older engines etc etc.

Perhaps there is a niche for frankenstein weapons. Platforms that use older engines that still have life left in them that have spare parts left for them, and old guns that can't fire new rounds but can fire older ammo stock just fine... in fact you could develop a new turret mount for the gun to allow it to elevate to much higher angles so it can be used as an artillery.

Perhaps something exotic.... looking at that recent video showing a T-80 with an RBU-6000 mounted on it with 12 launch tubes for 12 rockets... why not a single tube launcher with a reloading system so you have a stack of rockets that are fed into a single tube launcher that can be angled and aimed.

Who knows how much 100mm T-54/55 and 115mm T-62 type ammo they have left... some sort of artillery mount for firing these rounds at relatively extended ranges to use up old stocks.

With a 125mm gun being able to fire at 40-60 degree angles could introduce the idea of lofting GLATGMs to much greater ranges than can be achieved in standard tank gun mounts because of the elevation limitations...

Small river boats with 100mm and 115mm and old 125mm guns would be quite potent... especially if you add 57mm and 80mm rocket pod launchers designed for the new aircraft.

⚡⚡⚡More than 300 types of Russian military weapons and equipment have received technical modifications based on the experience of conducting a special military operation (SVO).This was announced by the Chairman of the Military Scientific Committee of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Vasily Trushin, in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.

Responding to a question about the study of SVO experience, he noted that weapons are finalized by companies in the "shortest possible time, after which, together with specialized research institutes, military-technical tests and experiments are carried out in departmental training camps, and then in combat conditions.

The necessary improvements are immediately introduced into the production of series models and are also taken into account in the development of new weapons and military equipment. Therefore, based on the results of this work, defense industry enterprises, together with the Research and Development Institute of the Russian Ministry of Defense, have made changes to the design of more than 300 samples," Trushin said
