They still need to push out IS from half the city of Deir Ezzor and Saker island, before contemplating any of that. That's a full month's work right there.

They still got progress to make, they need to capture the ISIS controlled areas, get to the airport and then create a buffer zone around the city.
After that I expect they will clear the Madan area and then head over to Suwar so the kurds cannot grab that area

It's expected IS will try to assault or temporarily block the linkup. RuAF is waiting for them with UAVs and strike fighters loitering like crazy. With Hmeinim having over 25 RuAF jets, this means there's always a strike package in the air over the area. Always.
Ivan posted about an pro-FSA source retracting a tweet they made acknowledging the linkup and break of the siege. The Kurds have no steam after Raqqa and will have none till Christmas or even later.
