    The most obvious difference between the two tanks (T-54/55) is the dome shaped ventilator on top of the T-54's turret. They are on all the different variants of the T-54 regardless of the shape of the turret. The rotating floor was first introduced in the T-54B variant.

    To start with, T-54 is an upgraded T-44, that was too late for a show of WW2, so was not needed in vast numbers. So they had some time to improve.

    That's the "thing" with Soviet tanks - each was an evolutionary step forward from the previous model.

    Here is an interesting pic of a T-44 from what looks like a war ravaged Poland?

    That is in Hungary. The shop's markings are Hungarian.
