I won't be surprised if they later remove those rumps off the CV-16/17 & install catapults on them; but even if not, those CVs r adequate for the East/SC Sea.

Chinese scientists have been able to achieve a technological breakthrough, thanks to which hypersonic missiles can be used on aircraft carriers of the People's Liberation Army of China. On Tuesday, October 11, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the South China Morning Post.

It is noted that a new type of weapon is designed to be launched from an aircraft, and not from an aircraft carrier, and such missiles can pursue a wide range of important targets, as well as be used as anti-satellite weapons. China's air-launched hypersonic weapon, which has yet to be shown to the general public, bears a resemblance to Russia's Kinzhal missile, according to research team leader Xiao Jun.

It is noted that hypersonic missiles will be able to increase the combat range of China's aircraft carrier fleet to more than 2,500 km (the approximate distance from eastern Taiwan to Guam) with ultra-fast air strikes that can overcome most air defense systems.
However, the article points out, hypersonic weapons are more difficult to maintain or repair than traditional missiles, especially at sea. And to date, there have been no reports of the use of hypersonic technologies in the armament of aircraft deployed on aircraft carriers.

Xiao Jun and his colleagues said their development for the rapid repair and maintenance of hypersonic weapons has passed serious field tests conducted by the military in maritime and combat conditions.
It is indicated that new technologies that are not yet available in other countries can be used to service a large number of airborne missile equipment. An innovation by Chinese scientists will help extend the life of hypersonic weapons, which must remain in service for at least 10 years, adds the South China Morning Post.
There are currently two aircraft carriers in the PRC fleet. In June, the third Chinese aircraft carrier Fujian, equipped with an electromagnetic catapult, was launched.

Getting ready for the first sea trails.

It's like they made a normal ship. Their industry is fucking huge. In other countries such ship will be the biggest thing on a picture but here it is not.

It's scary to have such industry. They can produce ships like others produce cars. It's also scary that any economy can fall including theirs and tvey would have millions and millions jobless people. They really need to reduce their population over the years.

Their population creates a market for things they can provide for themselves. Their population essentially creates a need for services and goods that employs people.

Honestly I don't think reducing population sizes is a bad thing, I think it is a good thing, but I prefer that this is done ethically rather than through war or famine or dictatorship.

I bet they'll later build a larger CV-19 with 4 catapults & 3-4 elevators & a NP icebreaker before embarking on a CVN construction.

Im suprised they didnt build a twin carrier to the Type-003 right away.

They r still learning how to build & operate them, & there's no rush.

Good work China! I like your communists in power about as much as the commies in power over here. That said most Chinese people are pretty damn awesome and it is about time they get a floating freedom dispenser like ours. Ruskies should get you guys to make them one.

The Chinese have always been clever people and it seems communism works for them.

Russia will make their own carriers but they have a few other ship types they need to produce first... they don't have the spare money to piss away on white elephants so they need to get it right.

Now they have Zircon they will be working on attack methods and defence methods too so there is that as well.

I think the governments the US has had the last few decades show that democracy is more than just voting to choose between two candidates put up by the two most powerful parties.

Even in communist countries there are often more than two people vying for the top job... plus the lack of interest most people in the west have in politics means you really get stupid results when you let everyone vote.

They become popularity contests and incompetence is not something that will stop you getting elected... people vote for all sorts of irrational things... Obama got votes because he was black but after two terms racism is still an issue and 10 terms are not going to change that... many of Hillarys votes were women thinking a woman president will solve all the gender issues in the US but of course they wouldn't.

Democracy is an idea that has not been achieved anywhere because once in power they ignore the people and do as they please, but then true democracy where everyone gets a vote would be a nightmare anyway because getting a vote does not make it fair especially as most wont educate themselves to the actual issues involved in each decision and it would become a gameshow.
