UAE signed an agreement to acquire 50 American F-35A fighters and 18 MQ-9B UAVs

    January 21st, 4:54
As reported by the Reuters news agency ,On January 20, 2021, just an hour before the inauguration of the new US President Joe Biden, the United States and the United Arab Emirates signed an intergovernmental agreement (in the form of an exchange of Letters of Offer and Acceptance - LOA) on the supply of the UAE through the US Intergovernmental Foreign Military Program Foreign Military Sales (FMS) sales of 50 fifth generation Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II fighters, guided weapons for them, and 18 General Atomics MQ-9B long-range unmanned aerial vehicles with weapons. The total value of the agreements was $ 23.37 billion, including training and technical support packages. Thus, the UAE will become the first Arab country to receive F-35 fighters, which became possible thanks to the recent settlement of relations between the UAE and Israel.

Russia should step in and say "we got a better jet than that Trash 35, not only does it work, it also works well. And you can keep your Huawei!"

Would be interesting to read through the agreement they signed to look at what sort of provisions they agreed to regarding termination of the agreement like this for totally unrelated political things...

Also makes you think that perhaps they need a US 5th network locally to allow them to monitor and control locally operated F-35s... which is amusing because 120 million per plane and you don't even own them... wow...

    January 14th, 5:30 am
According to South Korean media, on January 12, 2022, South Korean companies Hanwha Defense and Hanwha Systems (part of the Hanwha group) and LIG Nex1 (part of the LG group) signed a final joint contract for the supply of a large batch of new South Korean anti-aircraft missiles to the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates medium-range complexes Cheongung II (KM-SAM Block II). The specific number of supplied complexes is not disclosed, but earlier it was reported that the UAE intended to purchase 12 complexes (batteries) of the Cheongung II air defense system. The total value of the contract is 4 trillion won ($3.37 billion), making it the largest export sale in the history of the South Korean defense industry.
