PLA Navy and Naval Air Force - Page 27 Empty Temp sub talk stuff to be moved to more suitable thread.

Let's start with the fact, that the Chinese followed the exact path of the Soviets.
They are building in numbers, and improving projects in the process.

    lol1

Please go check the numbers. Post WW2 they started with 26 Zulu class followed by 220 Whisky class for the diesel subs.

For the SSN they started with 14 November classe followed by 50 or so Victor class. They had tens of different classes. Even today they experiment a lot with the few they have.

And they used to constantly sail all over the world. Not just around their coast like the Chinese.

Just a small sample of Chinese SSK development starting with the Type-033 (Romeo) subs that served for many years until recently as the backbone of the submarine fleet.

PLA Navy and Naval Air Force - Page 27 Type0311

Followed by the Type-035 Ming that was an improved Romeo.

The next step was the Type-039 with the improved Type-039G pictured here.
Btw in 2006 the Type-039 pop-up within firing range of the Kitty Hawk without being detected!  Shocked  Laughing

Up to this point the Chinese developments were quite pedestrian - until the introduction of the Kilo.  Smile

I wonder how the USN carriers would do against the Type-039A and later types? These subs are clearly heavily influenced by the Kilo.

The Type-039B and C are huge improvements over the former, and the hybrid Type-041 will be even better!  What a Face

It is rumoured that the new Type-041 sank at the peer, but I think its probably propaganda?

"Type-041" is just a name made up by people on Twitter.

There is supposed to be a project to make a miniaturized nuclear submarine. But there has been no real information about it other than that they were working on making a suitable nuclear reactor.

Yes lots of rumours and speculation around the "Type-41" submarine. Laughing

Here is a good picture of the Type-093A SSN - in itself a vast improvement over the initial Type-093.
It should give a good account of itself against a US carrier task force.

China currently have about 50+ fairly modern attack submarines in service, which is a solid number as a deterrent against any US (AUKUS) agression.

A lot of the Chinese fleet is brown water and low tech yet.

There is nothing to suggest their subs on are par US or Russian ones.

It's the same with virtually everything else they makes they say it's amazing but once it performs it shows it's not that good.

Their fleet would do okay sitting near their Coast like but if it goes further out it's going to get destroyed

Considering the good big steps taken in long range missiles and drones of all sort, those ships are just easy targets.

If they don't come with new AD and anti swarm drones systems, they will suffer the same fate as russian black sea ships.

Considering that the chinese have the advantage of fighting a potential war near their shore, as they won't be dumb to fight further away, they would have the advantage of ground launchers and air force planes presence.

If you see how iranian missiles go easily in Israel, same will happen with US bases. Most of those US island would need not even 50 missile to be badly damaged, 100 to get destroyed, and the US don't even have anti hypersonic weapons.

China already has enough power to completely deny the western pacific to the US navy and anihlate japanese navy.

Subs are good but they don't win wars... the diesel sub they have are enough to keep any US sub away from the coast, and even if not they would still have the advantage of the air force that would hunt them with planes and speed boats.

China can't win a far away war for sure but they can easily deny the US presence there if they wanted to.

what is "near" & "further out"?
Just like the Soviet/Russian VMF, most of the PLAN AOR is now covered by land based missiles & aircraft, even in the N. Pacific/Indian/Atlantic Oceans as China has/will have access to bases in Russia, Burma, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives, Djibuti, Tanzania, S. Africa, Angola, Nigeria, Algeria, Cuba, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, & Nicaragua. When their CSGs & smaller ship formations operate in those areas, the NAF, rocket units, & the PLAAF will be supporting them.
China can't win a far away war for sure but they can easily deny the US presence there if they wanted to.
with Y-20Bs, KJ-2000/3000, LP/H/A/Ds, & CSGs they can deploy Ks of troops, marines, & sailors to Africa & enforce their will there even today.

if they convert/build many of them, this will alter the balance of power in the W. Pac/China Seas in their favor!
