My take on why Finnish border guard seized the Russian ship in the Finnish gulf.

This was part of a bigger operation to shut down Russia’s so called “shadow fleet”

The goal is to prevent Russia from getting revenue from its oil sales

The cutting of the seabed cable was most likely done by the NATO/West to legitimize the seizure of the ship.

The end goal is to stop any ship not ensured by London to pass strait of Denmark. Russia’s war on Ukraine and terrorism (such as this staged cutting of the seabed cable) will be used as justification.

Finland’s action was encouraged by two factors. Protection from the NATO and Russia’s seemingly endless restraint and lack of action/retaliation.

According to Finnish biggest newspaper Helsingin Sanomat the seized Russian oil cargo ship Eagle S has been transferred to Finnish city Porvoo. Porvoo has the biggest oil refinery in Finland.

One “expert” quoted in the article suggests that Finland should just “keep the loot” (meaning both the ship and oil).

My guess is that the oil will be refined in Porvoo and used by Finnish economy. The ship will never be returned to Russia.
