Lavrov declared readiness to help Georgia in reconciliation with South Ossetia, 09.28.2024.

Lavrov: Russia is ready to help Georgia reconcile with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The countries themselves must decide what form reconciliation might take, but if all parties are interested in normalizing relations, Moscow is ready to provide support, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed Moscow's readiness to provide assistance in achieving peace between Georgia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

"It is obvious that the current Georgian leadership is simply honestly assessing the past. They said so: 'We want historical reconciliation,'" Lavrov said at a press conference following his participation in the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

Georgia supported Russia's assistance in relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, by Olga Ivanova for VZGLYAD. 09.29.2024.

Georgia positively assessed Lavrov's statement on establishing relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The Georgian authorities expressed a positive attitude towards Russia’s proposal to facilitate the improvement of relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which was emphasized in a statement by the General Secretary of the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.

Kaladze told journalists that the statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov received a positive assessment in Tbilisi. The authorities welcome Moscow's readiness to participate in the reconciliation process with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, TASS reports .

Kaladze noted that Lavrov's initiatives could become an important step toward resolving conflicts with these regions. "The fact that Russia welcomes and will facilitate reconciliation [between Georgia and Abkhazia and South Ossetia] is, of course, positive," he emphasized.

As the Vzglyad newspaper wrote, the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry proposed that Georgia sign an agreement on the non-use of force in response to the statement by the Georgian Prime Minister on the unification of Abkhazia and South Ossetia with Georgia.

Georgia has proposed that Russia move on to rapprochement with Abkhazia and Ossetia, 09.29.2024.

The Georgian authorities have announced their intention to make peace with Sukhumi and Tskhinvali, and also to apologize for the 2008 war. Lavrov promised to help in this process, to which the head of the ruling party suggested starting with the withdrawal of Russian troops.

The Georgian government positively evaluates the statement by the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov about its readiness to help bring Tbilisi closer to Abkhazia and South Ossetia, said the general secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, Mtavari reports .

"The fact that Russia welcomes reconciliation and will facilitate it is certainly positive. However, I would say that after these statements, it would be good to take effective steps," Kaladze continued.

As part of this process, he proposed to begin developing a plan for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Kaladze emphasized that the Georgian government would do everything to reconcile “with our Ossetian brothers and sisters” and summarized: “Only through peace, mutual forgiveness can we restore territorial integrity and coexistence.”

The Abkhaz SSR was an autonomous republic within the Georgian SSR, and South Ossetia was part of the latter as an autonomous region. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, both republics declared their independence. On the night of August 8, 2008, Georgia sent troops into South Ossetia and began shelling the republic's capital, Tskhinvali. Dmitry Medvedev, then president of Russia, announced the start of an operation "to force peace"; the conflict lasted five days. At the end of the same month, Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. In addition to Russia, these republics are recognized as sovereign by Nicaragua, Venezuela, Syria, and Nauru.

Georgia has stated that it intends to peacefully restore the country's territorial integrity; Tbilisi calls the current status of the republics "occupation."

Lavrov's comments in question were made at the end of September at a press conference following his participation in the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. He drew attention to Tbilisi's readiness for "historical reconciliation" and noted that the parties themselves must determine the form in which they will make peace, and Russia, in the event of a common interest, is ready to help in "ensuring non-aggression agreements."

Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili promised that the Georgian authorities would "find the strength" to apologize for the war with South Ossetia in 2008. His words provoked protests in the country.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili called Russia an "abnormal country," a Vzglyad newspaper correspondent in Tbilisi reports

"Russia must understand that it has borders and respect its neighbors. This is the only way for Russia to develop and become a normal country," she said.

According to her, “Russia is the only country that constantly opens new fronts against its neighbors.”

"Europe cannot live next to an abnormal country," said Salome Zurabishvili, who is in opposition to the Georgian Dream government. "This is unacceptable if we want peace, prosperity and development."

She said that "Ukraine's fight with weapons, supported by Europe and the United States, cannot end in defeat."

She is just a Western mole in the Georgian government. In any normal country a foreigner beholden to outside interests like this could never be elected President.

"The country will be drenched in blood." The US has issued a black mark to its ally, 09.30.2024.

Political scientist Yevseyev: The US is preparing an attempt at a coup in Georgia.

MOSCOW, September 30 — RIA Novosti, Mikhail Katkov. The Georgian authorities have threatened the Americans with a review of bilateral relations if they do not stop supporting the local opposition. The ruling party believes that the West has placed its bets on a coup d'etat. What is happening in the Transcaucasian republic — in the RIA Novosti article.

    Hunger rations

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze did not have the opportunity to attend a gala reception hosted by Joe Biden on the occasion of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. He received an invitation three days before the event, but it was withdrawn at the last minute. In addition, the Americans refused to meet with the delegation from Tbilisi. The US Embassy in Georgia explained that this was due to "anti-democratic" policies and misinformation of the population about Washington's actions.

"This is not serious. They sent an invitation three days ago and then cancelled it. It was a kind of humanitarian act in favor of the opposition, although it has no practical effect for them," Kobakhidze commented on the situation.

According to him, if Washington does not change its attitude towards the Georgian authorities, they themselves will have to reconsider the status quo. "We have the ability to communicate, there was a meeting with the ambassador in Tbilisi a few days ago. We have no problems with communication, we very clearly conveyed this message to the American side, and this message became publicly known. We said that this cannot continue... This is our clear position. Everything depends on the American side," he emphasized.

American-Georgian relations have been deteriorating since the start of the NWO, but now the process has taken on an avalanche-like character. In particular, Washington has imposed financial and visa sanctions on 64 people accused of undermining democracy, including promoting the law on foreign agents. Ten days ago, Kobakhidze told Ambassador Robin Dunnigan that the United States had "reached a critical limit." One more such step, and there would be no turning back. In response, he heard that the White House would continue to support the Georgian people, while the government was pushing its country toward isolation.

    Word for word

Meanwhile, from the rostrum of the General Assembly, Kobakhidze, as usual, expressed full support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and mentioned the occupation of 20 percent of Georgia (Abkhazia and South Ossetia). "I would like to take this opportunity to address our people on the other side - in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region. Whatever actions we take, we do it in order to help our people, so that one day we can live together with our children in one happy, united and developed country," the prime minister said.

Thus, he supported the call of the founder of the ruling party "Georgian Dream" Bidzina Ivanishvili to ask the Ossetian people for forgiveness for the war of 2008. Kobakhidze is sure that it is possible to unite only by restoring the previously burned bridges.

He also has not lost hope of joining the EU by 2030. However, behind the scenes, the prime minister clarified to Georgian journalists: the government's primary task is not European integration, which is being manipulated by the West, but the restoration of territorial integrity.

But he kept silent about Russia. On the eve of the parliamentary elections, the Georgian Dream avoids criticizing Moscow, but regularly reminds the population that if the opposition comes to power, the same thing will happen to the country as happened to Ukraine. Naturally, Kyiv and the West are extremely unhappy. However, Tbilisi does not pay much attention to this, since polls show that the ruling party's rating is more than 60 percent.

    Foreign interference

The elections will take place on October 26. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze is sure that "separate embassies" are campaigning for the opponents of the "Georgian Dream".

"We will put an end to the agents and existence of those traitors who harm the country and its European future. We will have peace and economic development. Our government will lead Georgia to the European Union," he said.

He added: "Georgian Dream" became the target of Western criticism only because it refused to open a second front against Russia. "We did not start a war, we are not covered in blood, the country is not falling apart - that is why all this is happening. The leaders of other countries are met on the red carpet and shaken hands. I do not wish such meetings, walking on such red carpets and such handshakes on the enemy. I do not wish on the enemy what is happening to the Ukrainian people. Our government managed to avoid this catastrophe," the mayor explained.

The likelihood of unrest after the elections is very high, believes Vladimir Yevseyev, head of the Department of Eurasian Integration and SCO Development at the Institute of CIS Countries. Pro-Western forces will try to come to power in this way, since they will not be able to do so legally.

"About half of the population is for the Georgian Dream, while the opposition is divided. They will not win the elections, but they will try to organize a Maidan. They will be supported by the current president of the republic, French-born Salome Zurabishvili, who will soon lose power, and the West, which is trying to turn Tbilisi into yet another anti-Russian outpost," the expert said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Accordingly, the recent decisions of the US are elements of Washington's pressure and preparation for protests. However, if the Georgian Maidan fails, the West will back down, since the Americans are interested in maintaining their presence in the South Caucasus, Yevseyev believes.

Georgia may distance itself from Washington, but it will definitely not become pro-Russian – this will be prevented, among other things, by the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The US will never allow Georgia to have normal relations with Russia and therefore they will never be allowed to improve relations with Abkhazia or South Ossetia... the conflict needs to continue because it is a thorn on Russias border... so the US will want it to continue... an excuse the keep the bio weapon labs there...

Georgia needs to realise the west wont let them trade or deal with anyone but them... ask Ukraine.

Trade with Russia will be enough to keep their economy healthy, but aligning with the west means not enough trade to grow and develop... your economy stagnates and you subsist on handouts from the US... who will use it to control you internal and external politics, so you lose your independence and start taking decisions for the US instead of for Georgia...

The sooner you ditch the west the better off you will be... in the past limiting yourself to just Russia would be a risk, but Russia does not demand exclusive relations like the US does, so dropping the US and EU, Georgia could work on their relations with Russia while also joining BRICS and trading with the Global South... a huge and growing market that wont tell you what to do or interfere in your internal politics.

Georgia has pointed out to the West the ban on parties in Ukraine and Moldova, by Dmitry Alexandrov from Tbilisi for VZGLYAD. 10.01.2024.

On Tuesday, Georgian Parliament Chairman Shalva Papuashvili called on the West not to display “double standards” in connection with the country’s authorities’ intention to appeal to the Constitutional Court and outlaw Saakashvili’s United National Movement if they receive a constitutional majority in the October 26 parliamentary elections, a Vzglyad correspondent reports in Tbilisi.

The head of Georgia’s highest legislative body drew attention in this regard to the fact that “Ukraine banned the Communist Party several years ago, and has now liquidated parties that threaten its democracy, independence and territorial integrity.”

According to him, “Moldova also banned an opposition political party under the pretext of threatening the constitutional order.”

According to Shalva Papuashvili, against this background, the widespread criticism of Georgia’s plans to ban the UNM by foreign partners resembles “interference in the independence of Georgia’s judicial system and in democratic processes.”

He also recalled calls in Germany to ban the Alternative for Germany party in that country.

The Chairman of the Georgian Parliament stated that his country is facing “political bias and hypocrisy on the part of some Western partners, including Germany.”

Shalva Papuashvili noted that more than 50 parties were banned in Europe between 1945 and 2015.

The Speaker of Parliament noted that during its time in power in 2003–2012, the UNM “massively violated human rights,” which has been confirmed by decisions of the ECHR.

"About 40 high-ranking officials of the "nationals" have already been convicted of serious crimes, including former President Mikheil Saakashvili, one former prime minister and five former ministers," he noted. "But even while in opposition, the UNM regularly threatens opponents, is a radical political force, calls for the overthrow of the legitimate government and does not recognize the election results."

As Shalva Papuashvili noted, members of Saakashvili’s movement “regularly use the most toxic and provocative political rhetoric.”

He noted that the country's Basic Law clearly states that the activities of parties that want to overthrow the constitutional order or forcibly change it are unacceptable.

It is also impossible for parties to function that harm the territorial integrity of the country, its independence, and that promote war and violence and social discord.

In his opinion, “the ban on the UNM will be the beginning of the recovery of Georgia’s political system.”

Georgia aims to restore territorial integrity, by Evgeniy Balakin for RiaNovosti. 10.01.2024.

Geography is a death sentence. And every country, regardless of its size and influence on the geopolitical arena, is forced to take this into account. For Russia, with its extended borders, good-neighbourly relations with surrounding countries are a matter not only of security, but also of existence. Violation of the balance in relations with neighbors sometimes leads to tragic consequences, as we see, for example, in the special military operation in Ukraine, which Russia was forced to launch to protect its borders.

However, in the modern history of our country, the Georgian conflict plays no less an important role than the conflict in Ukraine. More than 15 years ago, on August 8, 2008, Georgia (under the leadership of Mikhail Saakashvili ) announced the beginning of an "operation to establish constitutional order in the Tskhinvali region", in fact, the beginning of a war with South Ossetia . As a result, Georgia suffered a defeat and lost control over Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and on August 21, 2008, both countries, following the decision of the "national assemblies", sent Russia appeals asking to recognize their independence. On August 26, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev recognized the will of the peoples of the self-proclaimed states. Later, Nicaragua , Venezuela and Syria followed our country's example.

Needless to say, the events described above have become an open wound in relations between our countries? The geographical, cultural and religious closeness of Russia and Georgia could not be crossed out overnight, but were put at risk. In response to Russia's decision to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Georgia broke off diplomatic relations with Moscow and declared the self-proclaimed states "occupied territories". However, it is Saakashvili's government (and he personally) that bears responsibility for inciting the conflict - and it is the Georgian side that will have to take the first steps to pacify it.

These hopes for the restoration of historical and geographical balance have recently been associated with the Georgian Dream party, founded on May 7, 2012 by businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili . Although it began as the main rival of the pro-Western United National Movement led by Saakashvili, but coinciding with it on many issues, Georgian Dream gradually adjusted its course towards sovereign Georgian interests. Thus, under the leadership of this party, Georgia refused to impose sanctions against our country and supply weapons to Ukraine, accusing the West and Ukraine of trying to drag the country into a conflict with Russia. It would be an exaggeration to call these steps pro-Russian - rather, they benefit Georgia itself. Having assessed the prudence of the Georgian government, Russia in May 2023 canceled the visa regime for Georgian citizens, as well as the ban on direct flights.

In less than a month, on October 26, the country is expecting parliamentary elections, and the main rivals are once again the Georgian Dream and the United National Movement. In the fight for voters, the ruling party is trying to maintain a balance and find the best path for the republic in the current extremely difficult geopolitical conditions. On the one hand, this is a search for a balanced position in relation to Russia, on the other - a desire for European integration. The Georgian Dream considers the activities of its main rivals to be national betrayal, promising to judge them "in the most severe manner for all the monstrous crimes they have committed against the country and the people, especially for the vile treason committed in 2008." However, to do this, the Georgian Dream needs to obtain a constitutional majority. It should also help it approve the bill "On Family Values and the Protection of Minors," declare Orthodoxy the basis of Georgia's identity and - what looks most impressive - restore the state unity of the country.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow would be ready to help with reconciliation if all parties showed good will. However, Georgian Dream Secretary General Kakha Kaladze immediately rushed to propose developing a plan for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Such haste is dangerous and can only do harm in such delicate matters. At the very least, bilateral relations between Moscow and Tbilisi must first be restored and sustainable economic and cultural interaction established. Therefore, many steps remain to be taken on the path to finally ending the conflict. Let us hope that at least part of the announced program will be implemented.

It Is quite a bit different. The Abkhazian case is much more similar to the Kosovo one. Both (Abkhazia and Kosovo) of them are a shame.

In Abkhazian case, as an example the Georgian population was the majority before 1993. Now they are all refugees in other parts of Georgia (or abroad).

There are more Georgian displaced from Abkhazia than ethnic "Abkhazians".

Well if the Kosovars inhabited Kosovo even back 5000 years ago and traded with the ancient Greeks then yes it would be quite similar to the Abkhazian case. But I suspect the case of Kosovo is **ahem**, rather different.

Of course Georgians were also around for a very long time and Abkhazia has been part of the kingdom of Georgia for longer than Russia has existed so it's really not my business to adjudicate one way or the other. I hope they reconcile and come up with an agreement acceptable for both sides, whatever that may end up being, and that refugees can return. That's all.

I would agree with you if they meant to restore relations the way the tie eater tried, but if they mean by making concessions and trying to repair the damage then that is a good thing.

They seem to be pushing back against the US and the west when it is against their interests to cooperate, which means they are an independent country rather than a vassal... like Germany or the UK or France... As such, better relations with Russia would be a good thing... Russia certainly does not need hostile countries on every western border... even with China and Mongolia at her back being sensible and supportive...

Georgian President Refused to Sign Law Banning Gay Propaganda, by Dmitry Alexandrov from Tbilisi for VZGLYAD. 10.02.2024.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili refused to sign the law on banning LGBT propaganda, “On Family Values and the Protection of Minors,” adopted by parliament on September 17, a Vzglyad newspaper correspondent in Tbilisi reports, citing the Rustavi-2 television company.

However, she did not veto it or provide any comments.

Georgia's opposition ignored the discussion of the law and the vote.

Now, within five days, the law will be signed by the Chairman of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.

On September 17, despite criticism from the West, the Georgian Parliament unanimously – with 84 votes – adopted in the third reading a package of initiatives, the main one of which is the law “On Family Values and the Protection of Minors,” which prohibits the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.

Georgia's opposition ignored the discussion of the law and the vote.

Of course they ignored it because there was nothing to discuss... how can you support the sexualising of children...

Alphabet people have rights, but not special rights... they have the same rights everyone has, but that is not enough because special people need special rights.

Georgia Bans Gay Propaganda, by Dmitry Alexandrov from Tbilisi for VZGLYAD. 10.03.2024.

The Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, signed the law “On Family Values and the Protection of Minors,” which was adopted by the parliament on September 17, and which prohibits gay propaganda, reports a correspondent for the Vzglyad newspaper in Tbilisi.

The day before, President Salome Zurabishvili refused to sign the law .

The head of Georgia's highest legislative body said that "the law is based on common sense, historical experience, and centuries-old Christian, Georgian and European values."

Shalva Papuashvili noted that “the law protects the most important values – family and children.”

“Georgians are not afraid of foreign criticism when it comes to our faith, common sense and love for the Motherland,” he said.

On September 17, despite criticism from the West, the Georgian Parliament unanimously – with 84 votes – adopted in the third reading a package of initiatives, the main one of which is the law “On Family Values and the Protection of Minors,” which prohibits the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.

The day before, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze explained President Salome Zurabishvili’s refusal to sign the law banning LGBT propaganda, adopted by parliament on September 17.

EU suspends high-level meetings with Georgian leadership, 10.04.2024.

Ambassador Gerchinsky: EU to suspend high-level meetings with Georgian leadership.

TBILISI, 4 Oct — RIA Novosti. The institutions of the European Union have decided to suspend high-level meetings with representatives of the Georgian leadership, said EU Ambassador to Tbilisi Pavel Gerchinsky.

"We as the European Union have decided not to have any high-level contacts with the current government of Georgia, and that is why there have been no high-level visits to Georgia, no high-level meetings with representatives of the Georgian government <...> in recent months," he said.

According to the diplomat, the European Union will be ready to cooperate with any government elected by the people in the autumn parliamentary elections if it is aimed at European integration.

"If Georgia becomes a one-party state, it will become a country where political opposition is banned, where civil society will have to leave Georgia in order to function. If fundamental human rights, including minority rights, are not protected, Georgia will not be able to become a member of the European Union either today or tomorrow," the ambassador added.

The day before, the speaker of the Georgian parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, signed a law banning LGBT* propaganda.

Relations between Tbilisi and the West deteriorated after the Transcaucasian country adopted the law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence." This document provides for the registration of non-profit legal entities and media outlets whose income - in particular, more than 20 percent - is received from abroad. In response, Western countries began to threaten Georgia.

Opponents consider the new norm to be similar to the Russian law on foreign agents. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called these statements absurd, recalling that the first country to come up with a system for combating foreign agents was the United States.

In particular, at the end of May, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a multi-faceted review of cooperation with the Transcaucasian country. Washington also imposed visa restrictions on citizens of the republic, who were called "accomplices in undermining democracy in Georgia" in the US, and began to review all cooperation programmes with Tbilisi.

In turn, the European Union suspended the process of integration of the republic into the EU and stopped funding the republic’s Ministry of Defence.

As the ruling party of Georgia noted, the policy of blackmail and threats does not correspond to the spirit of strategic partnership.

WTF does the EU have to offer Georgia? Demands on reforms and gigantic structural investments to be "accepted in the future". The EU offered Ukraine some BS
"association agreement" that only a retard would accept since it was a gigantic waste of money (e.g. installing all new EU gauge rail lines) that Yanukovich bypassed for
the actual gain of the Eurasian free trade zone deal with Russia. The retard Ukrians were told that the EU association agreement was the same as membership and
they believed. The retards thought they would be getting the easy life for free with massive subsidies like in the case of Poland but even better. Georgia is being
fed the same shit. Maybe they will not lap it up like retards.

Tbilisi expects the West to not recognize Georgian elections as legitimate, by Dmitry Alexandrov from Tbilisi for VZGLYAD. 10.04.2024.

Political scientist Mamradze predicted a new political crisis in Georgia due to the actions of the West.

Georgian expert Petre Mamradze spoke about the "unprecedented open support of the West for the opposition" before the Georgian parliamentary elections on October 26 and "calculated moves against the Georgian Dream government." Earlier, EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Hercinski warned about the possible application of the "Belarusian scenario" to Georgia.

"The West is openly, unconditionally and unprecedentedly opposing the Georgian Dream. There is such a strong feeling that they have decided that if the Georgian Dream dares to win, we will declare that they have falsified the elections and usurped power. And this means that we will not recognize it as legitimate and will switch to the regime that is used in relations with Belarus," Mamradze told the Vzglyad newspaper.

"At the same time, there is not a single fact that would confirm violations on the part of the ruling party, but no one is interested in this anymore," he noted. "We should expect provocations both before the elections and on the day of their holding, so that they can then be passed off as "facts."

Petre Mamradze believes that "the government must stand firm and principled and work closely with OSCE observers so that they cannot say that there was no transparency. Especially since 90% of voters will vote electronically."

“But it will be very difficult to hold out, since it is already obvious that President Salome Zurabishvili will come forward, declare herself the only legitimate ruler of Georgia and create some kind of technical government to hold new elections,” said Petre Mamradze.

“And if we see mass street protests at the same time, it will be even more difficult,” he believes.

"The ruling party must also rely on the fact that its support will be very high. And it also expects that the elections in the US are coming, and this will shift attention to other processes, away from Georgia," the analyst noted.

Earlier, EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Hercinski warned of the possible application of the "Belarusian scenario" in Georgia after the parliamentary elections. Hercinski stressed that such a measure envisages a complete halt to Western contacts with Tbilisi in the event of falsifications and violence.

The diplomat added that over the past months there has been no contact either from his side with the Georgian authorities or from representatives of the Georgian government with Brussels.

In response to the EU statements, the Georgian authorities assured that the elections would be free and transparent. However, the ruling Georgian Dream party believes that the EU and the US are already openly supporting the opposition.

According to opposition MP Roman Gotsiridze, the West has openly decided to support the Georgian opposition ahead of the parliamentary elections. "Some do it in diplomatic language, and some do it openly," he said.

"All democratic countries in the world want a change in the current government of Georgia," the oppositionist said. "French President Emmanuel Macron received Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili the day before and also said that he expects a change in the Georgian government after October 26," Gotsiridze said.

All western democracies want to overthrow governments that are elected that do not suit their agenda... their grasp of real democracy is tenuous because it is a colonial democracy they are talking about... you get a vote and pretend you control who leads you, but if you pick someone we don't approve of then we will organise a coup or colour revolution and impose our puppet on your country and call it democracy.

Can't have the damn natives getting too uppity now and thinking they can have their cake and also be allowed to eat it.

We give you the cake and it tastes like shit because it is working in our interests and not yours... like western European governments are doing except a few rogue nations we are dealing with like Hungary and Slovakia and now Austria etc etc.

Georgian authorities rule out idea of confederation with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, 10.06.2024.

A scandal has erupted in Georgia over possible discussions of unification into a confederation with the breakaway republics. Tbilisi has officially ruled out this option, and its impossibility was also discussed in Tskhinvali and Sukhum.

Georgia, contrary to rumors, does not intend to become a confederation and recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, calling into question the territorial integrity of the state, said Mamuka Mdinaradze, executive secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party.

“The idea of a united Georgia is our Georgian dream, which will definitely come true!” he wrote on Facebook (the owner of the social network Meta is recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia).

The politician blamed "agents" for disseminating information about plans to recognize independence. According to Mdinaradze, Georgia will "free itself from occupation" only through peace, development, reconciliation and mutual forgiveness, despite the desire of some forces to "drag the country into war."

The independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia was recognized by Russia in 2008 after military actions in August of that year. The sovereignty of these republics was recognized by four other countries: Nicaragua, Venezuela, Syria and Nauru.

Tbilisi calls the current status of the republics "occupation" and calls on Russia to withdraw its troops from them. Moscow refuses to reconsider its decision.

Georgia denies rumored plans for recognizing Abkhazia, South Ossetia, 10.06.2024.

No recognition or similar anti-national issues are being considered, executive secretary of Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party Mamuka Mdinaradze said.

TBILISI, October 6. /TASS/. The ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party will not recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the party's executive secretary Mamuka Mdinaradze, has said.

"Agents are trying to influence the elections with anti-national rumors that the Georgian Dream party is going to unite the country by recognizing the independence of Abkhazia and so-called South Ossetia and making a transition to a confederal structure of the country," Mdinaradze wrote on his Facebook page (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as an extremist organization in Russia).

"No recognition or similar anti-national issues are being considered! Consent to a confederation is ruled out, because it would mean recognizing the occupied territories," he stated.

Georgia's ruling party said on August 20 that it needed a constitutional majority following the October 26 parliamentary elections to resolve several issues. In particular, as it was noted, there may be a possibility of the country’s peaceful unification, in which case it will be necessary to bring the system of governance and territorial organization in Georgia in line with the new realities at the level of the Constitution. The party does not specify what amendments to the constitution might be be adopted regarding Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

However, some experts and opposition politicians believe that the Georgian authorities are planning to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. There is also a version about plans to for declaring transition to a confederal structure.

Ruling party to resume impeachment proceedings against Georgian president, 10.07.2024.

Georgian Dream to Resume Impeachment Procedure of Georgian President.

TBILISI, 7 Oct — RIA Novosti . Georgia's ruling party, Georgian Dream, intends to once again launch the impeachment procedure against President Salome Zurabishvili, parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili told reporters.

"The parliamentary majority has decided to resume the impeachment procedure," he said, noting that deputies will appeal to the Constitutional Court before the parliamentary elections.

According to Papuashvili, Georgian Dream took this step because of Zurabishvili's foreign visits, which she continues to make without the prime minister's consent. The speaker of parliament stressed that although Zurabishvili's term expires this year, it is important that she is not a former president, but removed through impeachment.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that following the results of the elections on October 26, Georgian Dream will receive a constitutional majority and will complete the impeachment procedure of the president at the very first meeting of the newly elected parliament.

Foreign visits without the government's consent have caused a conflict between Zurabishvili and the ruling party. Last year, Georgian Dream filed a lawsuit in the Constitutional Court demanding the president's impeachment, and in October it found Zurabishvili to have violated the law. But the impeachment failed due to a lack of votes in parliament. Despite the court's decision, Zurabishvili continues to travel abroad without the prime minister's consent.

Georgia to beat Eurocasino, by Andrey Rezchikov for VZGLYAD. 10.07.2024.

Why the West is scaring Georgia with a “Belarusian scenario”.

European authorities are warning Georgia against violations in the upcoming parliamentary elections and are threatening a "Belarusian scenario" that would freeze relations with the West. Georgia is talking about unprecedented external pressure, but is promising to hold fair elections. Experts compare what is happening to a casino demanding that it play strictly by its rules. Will Georgia be able to play its own game?

Brussels has warned Tbilisi against attempts to falsify the results of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26. EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Hercinski hinted at the possible use of the "Belarusian scenario" after the elections. Such a measure would entail a complete halt to Western contacts with Tbilisi in the event of falsifications and violence.

The diplomat hopes that the elections will be held according to the highest international and European standards, stressing that they must be “free, fair, competitive, inclusive and transparent.”

The ambassador warned that Georgia would not be able to join the European Union if it became a one-party state, banned political opposition and failed to respect minority rights. The diplomat added that Georgian authorities had not been in contact with Brussels in recent months.

At the same time, opposition MP Roman Gotsiridze stated that "all democratic states in the world want a change in the current government of Georgia." "French President Emmanuel Macron received Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili the day before and also said that he expects a change in the Georgian government after October 26," Gotsiridze recalled.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze previously spoke about unprecedented outside interference in the parliamentary elections. "Such interferences have occurred before, but outside interference in the current elections is especially intense. This is very sad, but neither then nor now can anyone shape the will of the Georgian people in their own way. Therefore, based on this, this interference will have no effect," Kobakhidze explained.

According to the Prime Minister, the reason for the pressure is Georgia's reluctance to open a "second front, which upsets some specific people" who hope that "after the elections they will still be able to return their agents to power" in order to open this front. In addition, Kobakhidze stated that members of the opposition party of former President Mikheil Saakashvili, the United National Movement, are preparing provocations for the elections.

The Georgian authorities are calling on voters to be "vigilant and cautious". According to information from the speaker of parliament Shalva Papuashvili, in September alone, there were about 90 cases of articles, TV programs and statements from foreign countries aimed at criticizing the Georgian Dream.

Experts believe that the West is beginning to prepare public opinion for the possible non-recognition of the election results and is demanding, like a casino, to play strictly by its rules, but Georgian Dream retains a good chance not only of winning, but also of maintaining a constitutional majority.

"The West is openly, unconditionally and unprecedentedly opposing the Georgian Dream. There is such a strong feeling that they have decided that if the Georgian Dream dares to win, we will declare that they have falsified the elections and usurped power. And this means that we will not recognize it as legitimate and will switch to the regime that is used in relations with Belarus," said former head of the Georgian presidential office Petre Mamradze.

"At the same time, there is not a single fact that would confirm violations on the part of the ruling party, but no one is interested in this anymore," he noted. "We should expect provocations both before the elections and on the day of their holding, so that they can then be passed off as "facts."

Mamradze believes that "the government must stand firm and principled and work closely with OSCE observers so that they cannot say that there was no transparency. Especially since 90% of voters will vote electronically."

“But it will be very difficult to hold out, since it is already obvious that President Salome Zurabishvili will come forward, declare herself the only legitimate ruler of Georgia and create some kind of technical government to hold new elections,” Mamradze said.

“And if we see mass street protests at the same time, it will be even more difficult,” he believes.

"The ruling party must also rely on the fact that its support will be very high. And it also expects that the elections in the US are coming, and this will shift attention to other processes, away from Georgia," the analyst noted.

"The West is trying to declare the election results rigged in advance, and in this regard, negotiations on Georgia's accession to the European Union will be suspended. And NATO has not been discussed for a long time," notes Georgian political scientist Igor Gvritishvili.

The expert recalled that Ambassador Hercinski's hints are not the first such statement. "The European Parliament is preparing public opinion not only in Georgia, but also in the world that the elections will be rigged. But at the same time, we know that according to public opinion polls, the Georgian Dream should win," the interlocutor added.

Whether the ruling party will retain its constitutional majority is an open question. “Six months ago, such a forecast was quite realistic, but the unprecedented pressure on public opinion in Georgia through the American embassy and NGOs financed by the West, and directly through the EU leadership, is frightening some voters,” the speaker adds.

Gvritishvili recalled that for many years Tbilisi has been declaring its aspirations for Western democracy and a desire to join the EU, so Hercinski’s words put particular pressure on Georgian youth who associate their future with Europe.

"It is no secret that young people are leaving Georgia in large numbers not only to study in Western countries, but also to work, because unemployment is high in their homeland, and prices in grocery stores are higher than in Moscow. For example, the abolition of the visa-free regime will mean the impossibility of going to work in the EU, which is also important for voters. This is why Western countries are pressing on these sore spots. But those over 40 will vote for the Georgian Dream," the political scientist emphasizes. According to the expert,

what is happening resembles Georgia's desire to beat the "casino" that demands that it play by its rules. "It is almost impossible to beat the casino, but some people do it. Georgia will be among those few players who win," Gvritishvili hopes, although he admits: "There are very few of them."

"Belarus, by the way, beat this "casino", as did Venezuela. Secondly, in Georgia, after they got burned by Saakashvili, a government appeared that actually runs the country and organizes a parliamentary majority," adds Vladimir Zharikhin, deputy director of the Institute of CIS Countries.

According to him, even if the West does not recognize the results of the elections in Georgia, this will be a temporary phenomenon, the country will not plunge into a political crisis. "I still think that the Georgian Dream is determined. They are not children. There will be a lot of noise, but it is unlikely that the West will succeed," the expert predicts.

Moreover, Zharikhin is confident that Bidzina Ivanishvili's party will retain its constitutional majority. "There are no truly large opposition parties in Georgia today. At least, all these games on the part of President Salome Zurabishvili have not yielded results yet," the political scientist concluded.
