The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry distanced itself from Ambassador Andriy Melnyk's statement to a German journalist. Melnyk said that nationalist Stepan Bandera was "not a mass murderer."
Andriy Melnyk,Ukraine's outspoken ambassador to Germany, drew the ire of Poland, Israel, and Jewish groups on Friday when he defended Ukrainian nationalist leader Stepan Bandera in an interview.
Melnyk has made himself one of the most well-known ambassadors in Berlin, appearing regularly on talk shows and speaking his mind about the government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz. He was particularly strident in his criticism of the time it took for the German government to agree to send heavy weapons to Ukraine.
In an interview with German journalist Tilo Jung on Thursday, Melynk defended the World War II-era figure, saying that "Bandera was not a mass murderer of Jews and Poles," arguing that there was no evidence for such accusations.
Stepan Bandera is an extremely controversial figure in Ukraine, with some hailing him as a hero in his fight for Ukrainian statehood against the former Soviet Union, but with most acknowledging that he was a fascist who collaborated with Nazi Germany and participated in massacres of Jews and Polish citizens.

Can someone explain how these Kitolov-2M 122 mm guided artillery rounds work?
They work like teh US Copperhead laser homing artillery shell, but are designed to be handled in normal ammo racks and to be handled like normal artillery rounds. The optical port in the nose is covered by a cap that is ejected in flight as it starts to descend on the target.
Essentially you are in communication with someone with eyes on the target whether in an aircraft or drone or ground party with a laser range finder.
The coordinates of the target are determined and with the location of the gun firing the round angles and propellent loads are calculated along with flight time. The gun and the target marking team coordinate the attack the gun sends a signal when the round is fired and the marking team has a time count down to impact... about 3 seconds before impact the laser marks the target... the falling round has popped its cap and its optical port allows it to see the ground in front of it... when the laser spot appears it manouvers for a direct hit.
Same as for the Krasnopol 152mm version.

In the area of the settlement of Bereznegovatoye of the Mykolaiv region, as a result of the fire damage to the positions of the 99th mechanized battalion of the 61st Infantry Jaeger Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 75 nationalists and about 30 units of armored and automotive equipment were destroyed.
In the area of Zelenodolsk, Dnipropetrovsk region, a high-precision weapon of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit the temporary deployment point of the nationalist Tornado battalion. More than 40 militants and up to 10 pieces of weapons and military equipment were destroyed.
Due to heavy losses and desertion, the staffing of the units of the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade in Kharkiv is carried out by prisoners who have served their sentences in correctional institutions of the city.
As a result of the strike of the Russian Aerospace Forces on the positions of the artillery division of the 72nd mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the settlement of Soledar, more than 30 percent of the military personnel were destroyed and most of the artillery pieces were withdrawn.
