New government is currently staying away from Latakia, they know that SAA is not the same thing as Russian Military

Russia just needs to say that Latakia is theirs now and they get to keep it

Hopefully they don't try negotiating again lol1

no, no new info, but there don't seem to be any SAA troops in the region because statues are already being destroyed.

Normally, the coastal region should still be able to resist SAA and represent the old government?

But does Russia have enough troops to defend Latakia in case the local Alawites also choose to surrender? No way the western backed HTS will let Russia keep the coastal area of Syria. Russia will have to fight for it. But with what forces?

Israel's embassy will soon be opened in Damascus.

I think the plan may even include the Star of David replacing the Syrian colours. The terrorists are just disposable pawns in a chess game.
They will soon run into Black Rock's interests. They have big plans for this region - including Gaza.

Interesting to see all the hohol fans feasting here on their hollow victory Laughing

According to the many pictures, the troops heading for Iraq were outnumbered by the 10 to 20 to 1. Where did they go? Who gave these orders?

It will be interesting to see if this affair, combined with Nagorno-Karabah will leave Russia with image of someone that is abandoning their allies (even if in this thing Iran is a main one to blame) when they need help most. It might resonate badly among Global South countries.
Also, eventual loss of Hmeimim and Tartus will make them lose presence in Mediterranean and make logistics for supporting African affairs much harder.

Most likely, there was no orders. They took easiest route out. And good for them.

The claim goes that Assad tried to flee Damascus with a Russian plane. The plane was shot down (probably by US or Israel) killing Assad and the Russian crew.

Al-Qaeda isn't going to be content being landlocked when they could overrun the rest of the country so easily.

Israel will never allow its puppets to have actual power. Keeping them landlocked, impoverished and locked in bitter infighting will only allow them to further expand.

Told ya someone`s getting the gaza special. Razz

Who knows with all the disinfo but it does strike me that he would have made a public appearance sometime over the past week if he wasn't.

Maybe that's the reason things went south so quickly.

The Syrian Prime Minister seems to be ready to form a new government with the Islamists.

Looks like a silent coup at the highest-levels, and it may have happened days ago

Why would the West and Israel allow Russia to keep the coastal part of Syria (which by Russia's point of view was the only valuable part of Syria for them)?

In Tartus, where Russia has a military base, crowds are also walking with new flags and busts of Assad are being torn down.

The claim goes that Russian military plane was carrying Assad out of Syria while it was shot down.

If true it means that Russian soldiers also got killed. Russian government keeping silent and hiding this would make Russia look increasingly weak and inept.

But as for now this is all rumours.

Yeah but they had yesterday and before yesterday to evacuate, but still didnt choose to, which is insane since the HTS wont forget they dropped bombs on their heads. Maybe they are worried to give the Russians an excuse for all we know to go into Syria if one of their bases are getting attacked. Syria is in need of money so the new government doesn't mind getting paid rental. Who knows why they still stayed.

A few random late night thoughts, so take em for what they are worth:

    1. Could it have been that the Russians made some sort of deal to keep their bases at least for a while?
    2. Where is Assad? These terrorists are sick fucks, if the body is anywhere at all in Syria and in anything like a recognizable form they would have dragged him through the streets by now, just like they did the American marines they killed some years ago. Its what these fudge packers do.
    3. How a couple thousand disparate terrorists took down a very large army so rapidly is going to be the stuff of studies and research papers for decades
    4. For anyone out there who thinks this just sorta happened, well again read the Rand Report's Extending Russia. This has been in the work for many years

Russkie have this thing settled with the Turks, which is rather clear - just check the flight routes of their cargo planes.
    All passing Turkey airspace.
How the army is collapsing? The same way that Afghanian did - probably the regime lost the hearts and minds of its population - which is not hard to believe considering that almost a decade passed without any serious living condition improvement.
I have one thought on the matter.
Back in 2015, Russkie have won Syrie and lost Ukraine.
This time it looks like they have made the other choice.
