Moscow. September 5th. Interfax - In 2023, the Russian army should receive four deeply modernized Tu-160M strategic bombers and six Il-76MD-90A heavy military transport aircraft, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"This year, the Armed Forces should receive six Il-76MD-90A and four Tu-160M," Shoigu said on Tuesday during a conference call with the leadership of the department.
According to him, during the selector will be discussed how the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) implements the plan for the supply of these aircraft.
"At the meeting, we will outline measures for the unconditional implementation of the 2023 supply plan," Shoigu said.
This part of the meeting is held behind closed doors from the media.
Earlier it was reported that at the Kazan Aviation Plant (a branch of Tupolev, part of the KLA, part of Rostec), the construction of nuclear-capable strategic bombers in a new guise, the Tu-160M, is being resumed. Outwardly, they do not differ from the basic Tu-160s, but their combat capabilities have been significantly increased by expanding the range of weapons and equipping them with new engines - NK-32 of the second series, which allow increasing the flight range by 1 thousand km. Also, the Tu-160M is equipped with new flight and navigation equipment, an on-board communications system, a control system, a radar station and an electronic countermeasures complex.
Il-76MD-90A is the second generation of heavy military transport aircraft Il-76. Unlike combatant Il-76MD, they are equipped with more powerful and economical PS-90A-76 engines with a thrust of up to 14.5 tons instead of the "regular" D-30KP2 with a thrust of up to 12 tons. According to the manufacturer, the new aircraft has increased the carrying capacity and range of delivery of troops and cargo. Thus, the possibility of delivering goods weighing 52 tons has been increased to 5 thousand km, the maximum load - up to 60 tons.
