Yes there may have been overreactions but remember there’s a lot more F-35s in service than SU-57s so one loss of a 35 will have less impact on overall the fleet size. Maybe that’s why.

Uh, that's not how air fleets work. If an aircraft keeps slam dunking into the ground (or water) that type gets grounded across the board, so military readiness is impacted more, not less. Well, that's if it happened to a normal airforce and not in a Lockheeb subsidies program masquerading as one.

A poster on that thread said that it looked like it might have hit the command centre, it certainly seemed to come in high and close.

They have been lying and obfuscating about all aspects of the su 57 program for f*cking years. They declared it cancelled in 2018. So no. That's not why.

I remember reading the same BS that the Su-57 was cancelled on The Drivel.  Rolling Eyes

So much disinformation regarding the status of this program on western news. I mean it is not that hard to know the truth. Just read a couple articles on TASS. The Russian government back then gave pretty decent reports on the status of the program.

But it doesn't keep happening. There's approx 600 F-35s in service, only two have been lost this year and maybe 2 last year. The causes of all these incidents have not been confirmed, evidence was suggesting that in the RAF's case, it was due to incompetence rather than a pure technical fault.

The UK F-35s cost 90K pounds per flight hour to maintain... I rather expect inexperience is going to be an ongoing issue because many countries wont be able to afford the flight hours needed to keep sufficient pilots up to date and ready on the type.

Even just on material losses this is rather bad, and with a VSTOL model the numbers are not likely to get better because mortality rates for VSTOL fighters are traditionally rather high.

The Su-57 was a brand new serial production model so issues might come up... but the difference is that Sukhoi will investigate what happened and find a solution so it does not keep happening.

This does not seem to be the case with the F-35 though... problems found get a band aid and a warning sticker added... no discounts, no refunds...

Didn't notice he had his gear up the first time I watched.

Flat sea and clear sunny day...

Even with the undercarriage up if the hook was down he might have made it, but it looks like a fuselage fuel tank burst and caught fire, so quite a heavy landing there.

Any crash you can walk away from is a good one.

I thought that he ejected at about 16:31:31 on the screen timer, an object shoots off to the left.

I think the splashes at the front are first the aircraft hitting the sea and then the second as the F-35 explodes as the ship runs over it.

Now likely that the earlier photos of a pristine F-35 sitting on the surface were indeed photoshopped.

USN have confirmed this video as real.

Yes, I think you are right John... I just assumed that landing with your gear up you would stay on the plane until it was off the deck to ensure it didn't veer off and hit the other aircraft on the front of the ship... looks like he wasn't going to stick around to see what happened.

in my personal opinion, the F-35 is an flying turd. and it always will be.

It is unsuitable for combat, and only serves to make money by western arms manufacturers.

the only way the pilots survive any engagement with other figher aircraft, is by ejecting from their aircraft.
    "but its stealth!".

    Yeah.....about that......
how do you think all that rust will affect stealth?.
