Good one... over-complexity and excessive technical risk in search for technological supremacy and compensation of subpar airframe, crowned by desperate weight-out efforts and recently full emergency mode to control cost and schedule overruns has some consequences, many of which we will only be learning with time, once LM has landed as many contracts as possible and the customers will not only have bought the wrong plane but will need to pay for the necessary retrofits... they are truly a model of worst practices in program management.

A kc-130 also made an emergency landing after loosing 3 of its 4 engines.

The principles behind the F-35's design where really grounded. The F-35's stealth principles were so ingenious, that it can make itself indistinguishable from rocks, shrubs, and random wreckage debris.

"For the F-35, selective math is the weapon of choice to try to make the costs of this struggling program disappear and give the impression that the jet is quite a bargain."

P.S. That crashed F-35 was worth 175 million bucks, iirc.

Who believes this bullshit?!?!  lol1  pwnd
The F-35 fighter jet programme’s costs were inflated after China compromised a software vendor in Lockheed Martin’s supply chain, forcing a ground-up rewrite of a potentially affected system, a policy wonk has claimed to UK Parliament.

    https://twitter.com/gunner_schmulke/status/1327612978452160512

The comments are on point. Wink
    Excellent.
Why does it cost more than it should? China hacked it.
Why is the rest of the software a dysfunctional mess? Why is the plane a fat abomination? Why is the structure unsound and the oxygen system unsafe? We couldn't allow a good fighter to fall into Chinese hands!
It is stealth. That's why it's so important that turkey not use Russian radar to look for it. Because it is invisible.

I suspect the main reason Yakovlev got permission to sell its engine nozzle technology for VSTOL fighters was because they knew it would turn the F-35 into a dog.

The fan connected to the engine is a clever way of getting rid of two deadweight engines, but it still makes problems for a supersonic plane.

If they had one fighter and one Harrier replacement they could have avoided most of the problems... a harrier with a lifting fan could have been an excellent subsonic fighter that can operate from small strips anywhere on land or at sea, while the F-35 would be reshaped to be a stealthy F-16 and would have been faster and lighter and much cheaper and much more manouverable... with better aerodynamics and internal space capacity.

So from 2014-2020, F-35A pilots experienced 197.97 cases of oxygen starvation to the brain. In a 6 year span F-35A's caused nearly 200 cases of Hypoxia, that is just the F-35A variant, that does not include the B, C, D, I or CF versions.

The Drive is like: "The Su-57 can not defeat the F-35's!!!11!11!!!!1!1!!!"

The Su-57 does not need to defeat F-35's/F-22's, these fighters are already sucking the air out the room Embarassed they'll just wait for their pilots to suffocate first! lol1 clown pwnd Razz

My understanding is that the oxygen generation system in the F-35 is used on other aircraft and strangely these other aircraft also have the same problem.

    Suspicious...

Oh dear! Still, as a commenter said 'its good enough for the US' Smile Its certainly good enough for the 'gravy train'.

In a setback for the Lockheed Martin F-35 stealth fighter program, the U.S. Department of Defense has formally decreed that a decision on full-rate production of the jet is on indefinite hold. The Milestone C decision on whether or not to ramp up the manufacture of Joint Strike Fighters had been due in or before March 2021, but has now been on hold pending completion of the final phase of operational testing of the F-35.

Bloomberg was first to report news of the verdict, which was made by Ellen Lord, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment in the Trump administration. There had been previous suggestions that a delay was at least likely, before today’s official confirmation.

While more than 600 F-35s have been manufactured so far by the Joint Strike Fighter enterprise, including 123 examples delivered in 2020, wrapping up the Initial Operational Test & Evaluation (IOT&E) is a formal requirement before the formal launch of full-rate production. Once that happens, it will signal that the Pentagon officially has confidence in the program’s maturity and that the jet is able to perform as required in all operational conditions. Ultimately, the manufacturing run of the F-35 could reach 3,200 aircraft, depending on different nations’ requirements and emerging new customers. The U.S. Air Force alone has a program of record to eventually buy 1,763 conventional takeoff and landing F-35As, 241 of which had been delivered as of last summer.

Furthermore, the production-related milestone is supposed to confirm that the F-35 meets maintenance requirements, which have fallen short in the past, and that the manufacturing effort is running efficiently. This year, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic mean that fewer F-35s have been delivered than was originally planned.

    ....................................................

In January this year, a report from the Office of the Director of Operational Test & Evaluation confirmed that the F-35 still had 873 unresolved deficiencies, with new problems emerging on a regular basis.

In project management parlance there are way too many stakeholders in the F-35 program leading to both design by committee and
construction by committee. All sorts of incompetent deciders demanded all sorts of BS functionality giving us this moronic
"wunderwaffe". The KISS principle was not only rolled over by a tank, it was nuked from orbit.

The typical delusional projection and wishful thinking. Nothing that the western fake stream media puts out on Russia
has any value as information. It is all pure drivel.

The problem is that western media consumer lemmings lap this drivel up. I hear people claim that Russia has
cut off its internet from the world like China has a "great firewall". This nonsense opinion originates from the
agitprop in the western fake stream media trying to paint Russian efforts to deploy its own internet infrastructure
such as name servers as "censorship". In other words, Russian efforts to stop NATzO from cutting it off from
the world internet (since domain name registration is basically controlled by the USA as are the primary name
servers, allowing the USA and its minions to cut a country off from global internet access) are smeared as
the cut off Russia is trying to prevent.

This guilt transfer, blame the victim template is universal in Russia coverage.

The US Secretary of Defense spoke sharply about the F-35 fighter
    F-35 Development and News Thread: - Page 23 F-35_U.S._Marine_Corps_wiki_d_850

Acting us Secretary of defense Christopher Miller during a press conference called the American fifth-generation fighter F-35 Lightning II "a piece of..." a Transcript of the official's speech was published by The Pentagon.

Miller recounted a recent conversation with a us air force Colonel, during which the Minister called the F-35 "a piece of..." and added: "we created a monster," despite the fact that the pilot considers the Lightning II "a fantastic aircraft." Miller also admitted that he "can't wait to leave this job."

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing the Pentagon's test Department, reported 871 aircraft defects, of which at least 10 are critical. Due to the modest combat qualities of the F-35, it is recommended to leave the battlefield when encountering modern fighters. Lightning II spent $ 1.5 trillion to build - the most expensive combat system in history.

Lets hope Creepy Joe lives up to his reputation and gives the green light to full scale production... because Trump was thinking of cancelling it...

I hope they make 10,000 of these super planes... Twisted Evil

Funny, before the F-35 it was the Super Hornet that was the dog that was a huge step backwards and too expensive and should be cancelled.... by people who said that money wasted on the Super Hornet would be better spent on its replacement... the F-35...

Reminds me of that image of George Bush jnr posted after Trump got elected saying I ain't so bad now am I...

Perspective is important... GBjnr and the SH were shit, but what replaced them was inevidible because of the alternatives and were so much worse than what they actually replaced... but at least they were better than the YF-32 and the Clinton monster.
