Not sure it is any big deal. All sensitive info and equipment would have been taken or destroyed upon evacuation. It doe not take long to re-establish these type stations when the time is right.

This week a KORNET system deployed in Diyala province destroyed 12 ISIS technicals with mounted weapons.

In addition there is news that Russia and Iran are setting up a joint operations Command in the Al Rasheed Hotel (in the green zone in Baghdad) to coordinate their efforts and liaison with the Iraqis.

Who could have thought this would be happening as recently as a decade ago?

The world is a weird place.

Russia should cast the die and flat out offer to base attack helos or Su-34s out of Iraq.

whatever ISIS does to destabilize the Middle East, in my opinion it is nowhere near enough.

I want the Middle East to drown in Muslim blood. Today their blood is merely dropping bit by bit - while I want to see a river. I want to see a big war stretching from Morocco to Pakistan, from Turkey to Yemen, war larger than ww1, ww2, Korea and Vietnam combined - with battles so large that compared to them those of Moscow, Stalingrad and Kursk would look like minor firefights.

Iraqi Oil Resources Back in Government Hands

The Iraqi oil minister says that IS has suffered significant losses in recent weeks.

MOSCOW, November 30 (Sputnik) – The Iraqi Oil Minister has said in interview with the Telegraph that Iraqi security forces have made significant gains against IS, and regained control of vital oil resources including the country's biggest refinery in Baiji.

“Now we are gaining a lot of territory back,” Adel Abdul Mehdi told the newspaper. “They are being pushed back and they no longer have a stronghold. On the ground the security forces are doing very well. We also have good support coming from the air by the allies, the US and the British. They are doing a good job in certain areas. IS has taken a lot of losses in the last few weeks.”

Abdul Mehdi is a political veteran and former Iraqi finance minister, who took the oil portfolio in September after a new Iraqi government was formed following the departure of previous Prime Minister Nouri Maliki. He said that as well as military strikes, the new government was working towards political reform: “Security measures are important but more important is the political support and solidarity. With the change in the government and advocating the new policies we can see the positive impact on security.”

The minister said that it was vital for Iraq to tackle corruption and improve its governance: “Corruption is not only stealing money but also the ways that things are done. We waste a lot of money, which has to stop,” he told the interviewer, adding that he was hopeful of more foreign investment from international oil companies.

Abdul Mehdi was speaking in Vienna after the meeting of OPEC’s 12 members, who November 27 announced their decision not to cut production and push up oil prices. He told the WSJ last week that current oil prices are “not acceptable,” and Iraq would prefer action to support prices, but that OPEC unity was most important.

Exactly, the Female Kurdish Pershmerga fighters did a far better job of fighting back ISIS than the 'show-o-force' sorties flown.

IS Militants Shoot Down Iraqi Helicopter, Both Pilots Killed

Islamic State militants have shot down an Iraqi helicopter near the city of Samarra, killing both pilots, about 95 kilometers north of Baghdad.

MOSCOW, December 13 (Sputnik) – Islamic State (IS) militants have shot down an Iraqi helicopter, killing both pilots on board, Associated Press reported on Saturday, quoting an Iraqi senior Defense Ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The EC635 helicopter was shot down on the outskirts of the city of Samarra, about 95 kilometers north of Baghdad.

The militants supposedly used a shoulder-fired rocket launcher. The agency says an Iraqi army official has confirmed the information.

The EC635 helicopter, also referred to as a Eurocopter, is a 3-ton multipurpose helicopter built by Airbus Helicopters as a military version of the Eurocopter EC 135. It is a twin-engine aircraft and can carry up to 8 people, including the pilot and a range of military equipment or armaments.

The helicopter is marketed for troop transport, medical evacuation, cargo transport, reconnaissance and surveillance and armed combat support missions.

Stop posting this propaganda purposed garbage. The US is not hitting their own little foots on the ground aka ISIS, only fake videos of empty vehicles with absolutley no sign of any human life around it, while posting bazillion videos of Apaches engaging absolutley everything, sheeps, goats, children, reporters, police, iraqi army, civilians and insurgence, but not a single damn video of "ISIS" where actually they strike things, they only do a stupid PR stunt for stupid guillable americans like you while they are attacking Syria and Iraq to bring them once again under US empire.

Posting a stupid video in black and white, while posting million other videos of actual FLIR footage where it is visible that the tank is glowing under FLIR which indicates it is operating, but not just empty targets.

IRAQ - Fight on Islamic State: News #1 - Page 11 Empty Pentagon to Send 250 MRAPs Back To Iraq to Fight ISIS

    Post  F-15E Wed Dec 17, 2014 5:42 pm

The Defense Department plans to bolster the Iraqi National Security Forces for the fight against ISIS with MRAPs, the heavily-armored vehicles that Defense Secretary-designate Ashton Carter steered through a rapid acquisition process to counter roadside bombs.

The Pentagon is expected to send about 250 of the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles to Iraq early next year, Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said at a news briefing.

The Iraqis likely will not have to pay for the vehicles. Other Pentagon officials said that the transfer of the MRAPs would probably be done as “Excess Defense Articles,” which would allow the Defense Department to give them to the Iraqis with State Department approval.

Currently, there are about 1,500 MRAPs in Kuwait with U.S. forces there, and the 250 for the Iraqis would likely come from that lot, the officials said.

U.S. forces left behind MRAPs for the Iraqis when combat forces were withdrawn in 2011, but ISIS stole most of them earlier this years as Iraqi forces fled and left behind their equipment. U.S. Central Command has since reported destroying several MRAPs in airstrikes.

The agreement for the Iraqis to take the MRAPs followed discussions earlier this week in Baghdad between outgoing Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Iraqi officials on the needs of the Iraqis for more equipment and heavy weapons for ground forces.

“No specific list was submitted” by the Iraqis to Hagel but “airstrikes are not the panacea” in uprooting the fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) from entrenched positions in major cities, Kirby said. “Everybody realizes that.”

As the former undersecretary for acquisitions and deputy secretary at the Pentagon, Carter made the fielding of the MRAP his top priority as casualties among U.S. troops mounted in Iraq and Afghanistan from the improvised explosive devices that took a heavy toll on Humvees and other lightly-armored vehicles.

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates made Carter the head of an MRAP task force to geet the vehicles to the field quickly. Gates later wrote that Carter and his team “implemented the largest defense procurement program to go from decision to full industrial production in less than a year since World War II.”

Eventually, nearly 28,000 MRAPs were produced at a cost of about $45 billion, and more than 24,000 were sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the Pentagon.

President Obama noted Carter’s work on the MRAP as he nominated Carter to succeed Hagel earlier this month. “When our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan were struggling to defend against roadside bombs, he moved heaven and earth to rush new body armor and vehicles” to the combat zones, Obama said.

But it is not a question of time... the dog they trained might be mad as a stick, but as long as it is doing something they want... like biting burglars and postmen they continue to feed and house it.

When it turns on their children or bites them it is in to a sack and then into the river... or just a smack on the head with a hammer.

ISIS wasn't really making much headway in Syria... that is why they looked south to Iraq because it is rather less well organised after the US dismemberment of the country... easier pickings.

This is the exact reason they are not targeting ISIS, but use it as an excuse, because ISIS is obviously one and the same shit terror group as FSA, but you can not say from one day to the other to the majority of average people that you first fund and "back" them up against evil Asad and than suddenly say those are bad guys we help Asad to kill them, so they just renamed them and directed some of them back to Iraq to do their dirty work there along with creating another perception that all muslims are terrorists which is narrated constantly to blow a big enemy which doesn't exist anyway. Now they are using propaganda videos of attacks on ISIS which are always empty cars with black and white picture, no FLIR to give even indication that they might be empty when they are not glowing while this PR of anti ISIS strikes they actually do that what the terrorist groups couldn't do, diminish Syrias military power and finally overthrow Asad, that is the only reason ISIS was created to openly bomb Syria while saying they "help" Syria, so the common thing US was doing the past 238 years, spreading democraZy.
