Frigate "Admiral Kasatonov" in July will be part of the Navy

MOSCOW, July 6 - RIA News. The second frigate of the far sea zone of project 22350 Admiral Kasatonov is completing the tests and will be accepted into the Russian Navy in July, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, commander-in-chief of the Navy, said on Monday .
"For the distant sea zone, a stake has been made on equipping the surface component of the Russian Navy with new generation frigates of the Admiral Gorshkov type project. Currently, the second frigate of this project, Admiral Kasatonov, is completing testing and will be accepted into the Navy in July," Evmenov said in an interview with Red Star .

This seems unlikely. It does not seem likely the second Gorshkov class frigate can be commissioned this year because COVID is around.

COVID19 lockdowns don't effect essential workers and they can deem shipyards and defence essential services... so COVID 19 might not effect it at all.

It's not official, but this what Interfax reports citing an unnamed source in MIC

"Adm. Kasatonov" will be handed over to the Navy on July 21

"Adm. Yumashev" and "Adm. Spiridonov", will be laid down simultaneously at the Northern shipyard on July 16

So we'll know in a few days...

Not gonna happen with COVID around. Unlike China which don't care about COVID, Russia goes with the western flow and gets hyped up in the hoopla. Everything is shut down in Russia now. No ship is going to be laid down, not plane will be built, until at least a few years from now.

China shut down several cities, and has been rather more restrictive than the US or UK, but then that has helped keep the death toll low...

Shutting down and isolating is a planned thing, it doesn't just happen naturally... they currently plan to lay down these ships... if there is a sudden spike in numbers with the virus they would stop work, but there is no reason to put everything on hold for a few years... that is just silly.

Russian shipbuilding is fairly slow. By comparison, China navy getting 8 Type 055 and Type 052D destroyers this year. Russia navy gets 1 frigate every 2 years. Russia will need 8 Gorshkov to protect 2 LHD.

Frigates of the new 22350M project will receive 24 launchers for cruise missiles

Moscow. July 20. INTERFAX - The frigates of the modernized project 22350 will be equipped with 24 launchers for cruise missiles instead of the current 16, said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov

"Project 22350M differs from the ships of project 22350 in increased ammunition. 24 launchers will be placed on these ships instead of 16, which will significantly increase them combat effectiveness ", - said Manturov, quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

    https://www.militarynews.ru/story.asp?rid=1&nid=535149&lang=RU

I think he made a mistake and is only talking about the ships that where laid down today and last year, not the 22350M.

Laid down the frigates "Admiral Yumashev" and "Admiral Spiridonov" of project 22350

On July 20, 2020, in St. Petersburg at PJSC Severnaya Verf Shipyard (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation - USC), a ceremony was held for the simultaneous laying of two frigates of the modified project 22350 for the Russian Navy, named Admiral Yumashev ( serial number 927) and "Admiral Spiridonov" (serial number 928). Embedment board of the frigate "Admiral Yumashev" (serial number 927) of the modified project 22350, laid down for the Russian Navy at PJSC "Shipbuilding plant" Severnaya Verf "in St. Petersburg July 20, 2020 (c) sun3-10.userapi.com / sdelanounas.ru

The ceremony was held via videoconference with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who was at the Zaliv Shipyard LLC in Kerch. At Severnaya Verf, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy for Armaments Igor Mukhametshin and Acting Director General of Severnaya Verf Igor Orlov took part in mortgaging frigates. The laid frigates will become the seventh and eighth ships of Project 22350, respectively, under construction by the Severnaya Verf Shipyard for the Russian Navy.

It is reported that these two ships, similar to the two laid down on April 23, 2019 frigates "Admiral Amelko" (serial number 925) and"Admiral Chichagov" (serial number 926) belongs to the modified project 22350 and will differ slightly from the first four frigates of project 22350 - in particular, they will receive reinforced strike weapons in the form of 24 vertical launchers of the UKSK complex instead of 16 on the first four ships.

Recall that the lead frigate of project 22350 "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov" (serial number 921), built at the Severnaya Verf, was laid down there on February 1, 2006, launched on October 29, 2010 and transferred to the Russian Navy on July 28, 2018 and entered to the Northern Fleet. The second frigate of project 22350 "Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov" (serial number 922) was laid down at the Severnaya Verf on November 26, 2009 andlaunched on December 12, 2014, its acceptance certificate was signed on July 15, 2020, and the official transfer to the fleet is expected on July 21, 2020.

Also at Severnaya Verf, the construction of the third and fourth ships of Project 22350 continues - frigates Admiral Golovko (serial number 923, laid down on February 1, 2012, launched on May 22, 2020) and "Admiral of the Soviet Union Fleet Isakov" (serial number 924, laid down on November 14, 2013), and two ships of the modified project 22350 "Admiral Amelko" (serial number 925) and "Admiral Chichagov" (serial number 926), laid downApril 23, 2019. The laying ceremony for the Russian Navy of the frigates Admiral Yumashev (serial number 927) and Admiral Spiridonov (serial number 928) of the modified project 22350 at PJSC Shipyard Severnaya Verf in St. Petersburg on July 20, 2020 (c) RIA Novosti
