EW/ELINT aircrafts
Russian air defense really invest a lot in new ELINT / ECM capabilities as well as in early warning capabilities. I hope they will also buy more of their airborne equivalents.

Currently they are working on A-100 which will of course be the new AWACS, and should be powered by the new Il-476. Although surprised they didnt aim for Il-96.
As for EW systems for airborn, look at Su-34. As well, all aircraft are supposed to receive certain amount of EW/ECM/ECCM systems.

Their EW isnt up to scratch. Look at loses over Georgia. They need decades more to make something viable and workable.

Su-34 is good strike platform, but I have in mind bigger planes for strategical ELINT and ECM missions as well as command posts, based on larger planes. They will need to replace similar planes based on old Il-18.

KRET to deliver the latest EW suites to Russian armed forces
Russian Aviaton » Tuesday March 17, 2015 15:39 MSK
Radioelectronic Technologies Concern (KRET) has completed preparation of three Mi-8-MTPR1 helicopters (it is a Mi-8MTV-5-1 helicopter with the unique Rychag-AV jammer station installed) for delivery to Russian armed forces. This system protects aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, ground vehicles, and ships from air attacks and enemy air defense systems within a radius of several hundred kilometers, KRET’s press-service reports.
“In 2014 KRET successfully fulfilled the state defense order under long-term contracts with Russian Ministry of Defense, - KRET CEO Nikolai Kolesov said. This year the concern continues timely deliveries of cutting-edge products in key areas”.
The Rychag-AV jammer station can completely “blind” the enemy within a radius of several hundred kilometers. Moreover, the Rychag system has a database of different military equipment, which allows it to define the type of target and choose the most efficient type of interference. The new Rychag-AV stations are based on multi-beam antenna arrays. The station uses DRFM (Digital Radio Frequency Memory) technology, which ensures stable signal reception and radar jamming throughout the station’s range, KRET explained.
The system’s components are produced in Russia and it is a unique one (has no analogues). The station offers a great versatility, as it can be installed on helicopters and aircraft as well as static facilities or moving vehicles, including ships. A predecessor of this new helicopter system, the Smalt jammer station designed for protection of groups of aircraft, was developed in the 1970s. The station was located in a UAZ trailer and had a range of only 100 km.
The latest helicopter Mi-8MTPR-1 is designed for reconnaissance and suppression of radio-electronic systems designed for controlling enemy troops as well as enemy weapons (air defense systems, artillery, anti-aircraft and anti-aircraft artillery systems, and fighters), KRET added.

Il-22PP Porubshchik special mission
Russia has shown for the first time its new Ilyushin Il-22PP Porubshchik special mission aircraft. The ‘escort jammer’ aircraft made its public debut on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Russian air force over Kubinka on 12 August.
The Il-22P is a signals intelligence (SIGINT) and stand-off-jamming platform that has been built around a converted Il-22 ‘Coot-B’ airframe, which is itself a theatre-level airborne command post and radio relay aircraft based on the Ilyushin Il-18D turboprop airliner.
While the Il-22PP retains the airframe and power plant of the Il-22, it has four large fairings located symmetrically on both sides of the fuselage. These contain antennas of the L-415 electronic countermeasures (ECM) system made by the KNIRTI institute of Kaluga. Another antenna is fitted to the tail, while a further antenna is located under the fuselage. A fixed pod beneath the fuselage contains 16 32-round 26 mm UV-26M chaff/flare launchers for self defence; two more 14-round 50 mm (2-inch) launchers are built into the under-fuselage. The aircraft has a livery resembling that of the civilian Aeroflot airline, although it carried the inscription ‘Russia Air Force’ and the red star marking. It also has the inscription 'Il-18' on the nose.
According to the Myasishchev design bureau, which is responsible for the conversion, "the airplane is intended for detection and suppression of state-of-the-art secretive and jam-proof systems of combat control of various functions". These are "radars, guidance channels of surface-to-air missile systems, mid-course flight path correction channels of cruise missiles, as well as tactical data exchange networks such as Link 16.

On the basis of Il-114-300 can be created a plane of electronic warfare
MOSCOW, August 28. / TASS /. A combat aviation complex or an electronic warfare aircraft can be created on the basis of a modernized IL-114-300, the IL-114 program director of PJSC "IL" Ivan Kabatov told TASS.
"Possessing unique flight performance, the aircraft is the optimal platform for the organization of aviation systems for solving a wide range of tasks - from monitoring, patrolling and transport to electronic warfare, reconnaissance and combat use," Kabatov said.
He noted that RPM "Radar MMS" on the basis of the flying laboratory IL-114LL has accumulated considerable experience in developing and using advanced electronic systems. "The duration of the loitering, low cruising speed, wide temperature range and the possibility of using from unprepared airfields give all grounds for considering this aircraft as a platform for special versions for many years to come," said the program director of IL-114.
Kabatov also noted that "IL-114-300 has a high appeal for potential government customers in Russia, as it is produced from Russian components."
In turn, marketing director of PJSC "IL" Tamara Kakushadze reported that on the margins of the last forum "Army-2018" the prospects of future orders for a plane with representatives of federal executive authorities were discussed. Including manufacturers Il-114-300 "clarified the needs of potential customers in special versions of aircraft."

This looks as amateur article.
EW could do such things only if the missile or shell use a radar, radio or maybe laser fuze. Artillery shells use a mechanicle fuze if I'm not wrong, and can't be impacted by any radio signal of any sort.
Guided by definition has electronics. BTW article says:
KRET" Mercury "saw the salvoes of guns and, acting with high-power interference on the radio-detonators of guided missiles, forced them to explode in the air," the South Military District said in an official statement.

EW Aircrafts
Complex "Lever-AV" - helper of rotary-wing aircraft: on the increase in the number of helicopters with radio suppression systems
The Ministry of Defense has decided to significantly increase the number of helicopters equipped with electronic warfare "Lever-AV" systems. According to the military department, the grouping of the Southern Military District, including Crimea, will be strengthened first.
According to the plans of the Ministry of Defense, the subdivisions and units of the Southern Military District will be reinforced with Mi-8MTPR-1 helicopters with the "Lever-AV" radio suppression system. The emergence of these helicopters will be an effective response to the possible deployment of medium and short-range missiles in the region.
The number of vehicles planned for delivery has not been reported. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense ordered 18 helicopters in this modification, most likely, the number of machines will be increased, if this has not already happened.
The first helicopters with the electronic warfare "Lever-AV" system appeared in 2016. At the beginning of April of that year, Russian Helicopters announced the early modernization of the Mi-8MTV-5-1 helicopters with the installation of the Lever-AV system on them. In mid-April 2016, the first two modernized helicopters entered the ZVO.
Active jamming stations "Lever-AV" are powerful enough to "blind" the enemy's electronics at a distance of up to 150 kilometers. At the same time, it is argued that this is only one of the operating modes, the range of the complex is much greater. The stations have a database with information about various means that pose a threat to the covered objects. The computer system matches the signal coming from the source with the types of signals available in the database. If a match with a threat signal is detected, then the system works, which selects the most effective interference for the source of danger. The complex operates fully automatically without operator intervention. Base stations "Lever-AV" - multi-beam antenna arrays. When generating signals, the station uses DRFM (Digital Radio Frequency Memory - digital processing and recording of radio signals) technology, which guarantees stable reception of signals from radar facilities and their radio suppression throughout the entire coverage area.
The Mi-8MTPR-1 helicopter, while in the air, is capable of simultaneously jamming up to 8 enemy radars, interfering not only with ground, but also aviation radars. With the help of "Lever-AV" stations, helicopters are able to conduct electronic reconnaissance and suppress enemy troops and weapons control systems. The systems provide group protection for aviation and ground vehicles.
Mi-8MTPR-1 is produced at the Kazan Helicopter Plant. In 2019, information appeared about the imminent adoption of an upgraded version of the system - Lever-AVM ".

Re: EW/ELINT aircrafts
MOSCOW, January 17-RIA Novosti. After Russia's final withdrawal from the Open Skies Treaty, Tu-214ON aircraft are planned to be used for intelligence purposes, two military and diplomatic sources told RIA Novosti.
"Both Tu-214ON aircraft are planned to be retrained for other tasks. We are talking primarily about intelligence functions and monitoring the security of our own military facilities, " one of the sources said.
In addition, he added, the aircraft will be used to monitor the results of tests of various weapons and assess the effectiveness of exercises.
According to the second source, in order to use the Tu-214ON as reconnaissance aircraft, they need to install modern radio-electronic and radio-technical reconnaissance equipment.
"A preliminary decision has been made in this regard," the source said, noting that the possibility of extensive modernization was laid down during the design of the Tu — 214ON and "no one will throw such valuable aircraft around."
While the procedure of withdrawal from the contract is complete, both the Tu-214ON will remain in reserve, the sources added.
The Tu-214ON surveillance aircraft were built by Tupolev in 2011 and 2013 on the basis of passenger Tu-204s, and the equipment for them was developed by Rostec State Corporation. In September 2018, both aircraft received international certification for performing observation flights within the DON.
The Open Skies Treaty was signed in 1992 and became one of the confidence-building measures in Europe after the Cold War. The Agreement has been in force since 2002 and allows its members to openly collect information about each other's armed forces and activities.
Until recently, 34 States were parties to the treaty. But at the end of May, President Donald Trump said that the United States was withdrawing from the agreement. The reason for this in Washington was called repeated violations by Russia. Moscow has repeatedly denied these accusations.
On the night of November 22, the United States completed the exit procedure.
On January 15, Russia also announced its withdrawal from the DON. As explained in the Foreign Ministry, the US decision to leave the agreement significantly violated the balance of interests of the participating states, and Moscow's proposals to ensure the viability of the treaty in the new conditions did not find support from partners.

Observer aircraft Tu-214ON checked the camouflage of military facilities in Crimea
The Russian Tu-214ON observer aircraft flew in a new capacity and checked the camouflage of Russian military facilities on the coasts of Crimea and Krasnodar.
The plane made an observation and reconnaissance flight from a military airfield near Taganrog on Thursday. He also tested the ability of air defense systems in these regions to detect air targets in passive location mode.
"Its main goal was to check the camouflage and security of military facilities, units and formations located there, including the Sevastopol and Novorossiysk naval bases," RIA Novosti writes, citing a source on Saturday, March 6.
The flight lasted more than three hours, the source noted, adding that it also involved assessing the effectiveness of the onboard observation equipment installed on the Tu-214ON.
At the moment, the plane has returned to Moscow.
In January, sources said Tu-214ON would be used for reconnaissance purposes following Russia's withdrawal from the Open Skies Treaty (DON).
It is argued that the aircraft will also be used to monitor the results of tests of various weapons and assess the effectiveness of the exercises. Until the procedure for withdrawing from the treaty is completed, both Tu-214ONs will be in reserve.
