I don't understand why they don't start modernizing these hulks with new TIS and FCS. The Chinese are selling that crap to Sudan, on loans.
Sometimes you wonder why.

China? Slovenian Fotona is selling FCS to Iran... Serbian Yugoimport SDPR would sell documentation for M-84A FCS more than villingly (which is still light years ahead what majority of Russian tanks have atm)... options are numerous.
But i suppose its mostly lack of funds, skilled workers/engineers.

I don't think so, they have reverse engineered the 2A46M and from what I was told the Gun is up to spec with the guns you'd find on on T72M1's.
As for funding, that's nothing, they don't need huge costs we're speaking about 20 million dollars for one battalion (that's what Sudan paid for its Type 96G's).
There's a problem somewhere and probably it has to do with extreme paranoia. It's just counter intuitive to me to keep upgrading these tanks cosmetically and structurally when the subsystems don't follow. Especially for those Pokpung-Ho 2's. The gun far outweighs the qualities of the rest of the tank.
Well I don't know what it is, I hope we never find out though.

Re: Korean People's Army: News
North Korean military parade from today. At the end of parade they show quite a lot of different missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads, including ICBMs. If NK actually have such number of nuclear warheads as they show missiles on parade and concluding, that they most probably didn't drive all missiles and launchers they have in armament, than Trump should think agains about attacking North korea. They are able to nuke US and even if they don't reach Yellowstone, they could still sink California in Pacific ocean.

Don't know how good US INTEL is on NK but the amount of gear there might have caused a bit of a surprise, especially as there will be a lot more on standby ready to go above ground and under the sea. Bit like that Russian Kalibr attack from the Caspian seemed to have woken some people up from their 'Russian military is not good enough' view.
Wonder if what Trump has been told matches what he might see on TV.

Trump has no idea what he's seeing on TV. Someone has to explain it to him. To him, it's just a bunch of big rockets - mean rockets. The only thing that man does is sign papers.

Re: Korean People's Army: News
North Korean armored personnel carriers, known under the Western name M-2010. They were created on the basis of studying and copying BTR-80 acquired in Russia at the very beginning of the 2000s. Two variants are known: six-wheeled and eight-wheeled. Unlike the original, the Koreans have two CPVTs in the tower, which is why the tower itself is somewhat larger.

This is one of the North Korean 122mm SPH, known by Western designation as M-1991

170-mm self-propelled gun arr. 1983 "Juche-po" (also known by Western designation as M-1989 Koksan)

122-mm MLRS obr.1990

240-mm MLRS obr.1990

New large-caliber MLRS (presumably 300 mm) with guided missiles.

North Korean SAM short-range, it seems to be modernized Strela-10 with a noticeable missile on some new ones.

S-200 missile

Self-propelled launchers of North Korean SAM, known by the western designation KN-06.

North Korean test of medium-range missile explodes on launch in latest challenge for Trump
North Korea tested an apparent medium-range missile early Sunday that “blew up almost immediately,” the U.S. military and government officials said — the latest act of defiance in the face of calls by Washington to rein in its nuclear and missile programs.
The failed launch, which was detected from a site near a North Korean submarine base in the city of Sinpo, came just a day after Pyongyang showcased its military might in a parade marking the birth of the country’s founder, where it displayed a variety of old and new weaponry, including technology that pointed to possible plans for new long-range missiles.

A post just for Papadragon, a Tyler article worth reading.
With excellent quality pictures as well, like this, check it out fullsize and marvel at the quality of the welding
or count the rivets on the nose cone. Awesome definition.

Upgraded North Korean tank "Chonma-216" close-up
If to open in full resolution it can be seen that these are automatic grenade launchers in the central turret above the tower, along the sides of the Buldsae-3 (Pulse or Phoenix in Korean) and the HT-16PGJ MANPADS or possibly a newer version of these North Korean complexes.

Are you serious ??
These pictures are just for their public. If US lunched a surprise strick, 2 f-18 could have destroyed these systems in a single attack.
