Released by Yemen Fights Back media hub.

pretty impressive results from just one missile, i have always liked surface to surface missiles systems like this even though there not always accurate but when they do hit they hit hard, i thin upgraded Tochka still have a place on the battlefield even with Iskander now being produced, a post i put up months ago stating that even 9K52 Luna-M FROG-7 with simpel upgrades could still be effective and bring these missiles back on the battlefield, the main problem with Luna M was accuracy but with improvements in technology it would be simple to give the system improved accuracy even down to 20-30m and increase the range, Iraq/Egypt managed to get the range up to 180km with there copy the Ababil-100 SSM. Russia or Belarus could offer these upgrades to countries who still have the Luna M i am pretty sure most would be happy to upgrade. Another system which was good but was sadly removed by Gorbachev was the OTR-23 Oka/SS-23 Spider which had the west crapping themselves, even today the system would have still been a threat.

    on another note

sad to see the cease fire seems to have been broken by the Saudi led coalition

What Saudis now call "Islamic Military Alliance". That sounds bad even without Jemen and ISIS in picture. ISLAMIC, MILITARY, ALLIANCE.

^^' Pak army is very good, Turkish army is also top notch. Both of them could fight Israeli army (or any NATO army) on equal grounds and both could inflict verty high casualties on the US in case of invasion.

Remember what KSA did when Islamists besieged a mosque in 1979? They called Paki commandos for help.

From black Africa, Chad and Senegal have good infantry forces.

Morocco and Tunisia aren't too shabby either.

If those guys had a fraction of KSA budget they would have good armies.

What poor ass countries the Saudis bought off with their oil dollars, you mean.

    What is Saudi-US alliance, then?

In politics it's interests that matter first and foremost.

Saudi-led Islamic Military Alliance: Lebanon, Malaysia, and Pakistan deny membership

    Lebanon:
The Foreign Ministry Tuesday denied having knowledge of Saudi Arabia's creation of an Islamic anti-terrorism coalition announced overnight, contradicting an earlier statement made by Prime Minister Tammam Salam implying that Lebanon was a member of the alliance.
    Malaysia:
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein confirmed that Malaysia is not involved in the military coalition of 34 Islamic countries to combat terrorism as announced by Saudi Arabia today.
    Pakistan:
Pakistan found itself in the crosshairs of Middle Eastern politics on Tuesday as Saudi Arabia named it as part of its newly formed 34-nation military alliance of Muslim countries meant to combat terrorism, without first getting its consent.
Talking to journalists, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry said he was surprised to read the news that Saudi Arabia had named Pakistan as part of the alliance.
He said he had asked the country’s ambassador in Riyadh to get a clarification from Saudi Arabia on the matter.

Turks and Pakistanis to fight Israel? Maybe, but i would suggest them building significant amount of caskets. Yeah they called Pakistani commandos in 1989. when Russians were retreating from Afganistan i remember them leaving quite an amount of bodies at certain hill.

They wouldnt attack at all, at least not in such way and there Very Happy Thats the difference between Pakistani, Somalian, Nigerian, Albanian and similar spec op. superpowers and SAS, SEALs, Serbian Special brigade (actually quite underrated), GROM or whoever. Pakistan especially at that time was very...religiously and politically motivated to fight Russians. Had very or no experience or required training to do so.

What evidence do you have that they were Pakistani commandos BTW? Not that the attack party included commandos but that it was composed solely or mostly of them. SInce only a mental retard would send the best troops to attack a strategically irrelevant hill, in a war that is almost won.

Not even Saudis are doing that in Yemen.

That would beg the question are there strategic relevant hills?

Jokes aside, it would be hard to proof any commandos involvement since it is hard to get by when such missions are carefully preplanned and carried out in most cases.

It was very important hill actually, Hill 3234 was protecting retreating Russian columns. When its about proof, well...i dont have any. That is however what Russians claimed in their documentary movies regarding this incident, that Talibans were strengtened by Pakistani special forces and that several bodies were identified as Pakistani service members. If i recall right even official note was sent to UN after that operation.

Wink Hills in Latakia countryside are pretty important - since they often overlook roads and are necessary for further advance.

Walther von Oldenburg wrote:...Then all Paki SF had to be there. But wait - using SF to frontally attack a hill? Those troops arent supposed to do that.

Those troops do that all the time. Even today in Paktika it's mostly the SF that lead the charge. Read about Op Anaconda before talking nonsense.

Hill 3234 wasn't exactly a strategic point, it was a tactically important FO/COB, the Pakis wanted to bypass it initially as they had already free range from Khost to Waza, but the Soviets blew the shit out of their proxies around Khost forcing them to seek

    1. Revenge.
    2. Deviation route, difficult to track throughout the range.
    3. Prestige victory (Wanat/Camp Liberty comes to mind).

What happened, is that the preparation for the attack was very well carried out, when the first rounds hit, most of the attack party was at less than 500 m downslope. That's something right out of danger close for ISAF/USFA. However the recce was lacking and they missed the close primary Soviet firebase (some say, the people on the firebase were asleep, so the durka durka din't saw the mortars when they crossed at night. Primary firebase was about 3km from 9th company. Battalion firebase was 15km out.

Once the fighting began, the Soviets lost company radio, and were forced to radio out through tactical ones. They lost the NSV after, which really complicated the business, and a paratrooper had to climb back at the position and get killed himself.

Often this battle gets overlooked, because it was the only defensive operation in the area, while the Soviet AF was pounding the bitches in January. Two first weeks of Magistral killed about 8 thousand mujis and at least 2000 Pakistanis. Wikipedia lists 300 dead. Haqqani escaped two attempts on his life, because of the number of people he sent to death, including one that killed his nephew.

    Now back to Yemen.

    a. 0:33 Building in the crossroads. Any one in there and we have a more satisfying video.
    b. No one breaches a wall (for guys that blow shit all the time).
    c. They've managed to get actually flanked on the paved road, to the point, I still fathom how there's only one dead. That RGD-5 was good, it killed the momentum.

Yeah, quite bad fighters, also the aiming. They shoot randomly, i totally understand covering and supressive fire, but they do not aim at all, whatsoever even in the moments when they should have.

No way either of the two mentioned militaries could even to hope to take on the US in any circumstance. The US will win 10 out of 10 fights with either the Pakistanis or Turks if it came down to that. Same with Russia, Russia nowadays could easily mop up the Turks or the Pakistanis if needed to.

I would not take Pakistani military for granted, Pakistan as a country is perhaps messy but Pak army is really heavyweight and respectable institution with properly educated officer core, strong armaments industry. Totally opposite of the country itself.

Turkish army is conventionally large but lacks experience in major conflict compared to Russians, Israelis and Iranians.
