I thought Prince Vlad was the first improved Borei, now I am confused. What are the changes to Oleg?

Yes, the Russian classification can be confusing. This is the logic behind it:
Prince Vlad is the first one - prototype
Prince Oleg is the first serial one.
They are identical.

Laying down ceremony for those six new ships got scrubbed at the last minute and moved for Monday
But launch of fully completed vessel just goes on the down low
The delay was because of Putin's schedule. He is going to attend the Universal Landing Ships laying down process in Kerch. He postponed his trip by a few days, so all the ceremonies were delayed.
I just posted details on what will be laid down this month in the other thread:

Yeah they better go on ahead without him, he's retreated to the bunker

New sonar arrangement on the 955A ?

Hello #Russia Prj.955A Borey-A "Knyaz Vladimir", what an interesting new flank sonar array you have there

They seem to be confused with sonars. They keep changing them from one sub to another. Already happened to yasen which saw a different sonar from 1 to 2nd ship. Now this.
Don't they have a testbed submarine or they test them only when the new subs are build ?

Yes, both Borei-A and Yasen-M have conformal sonars, this is not news

Uhm, the first Yasen was laid down in the 90s, so of course starting with the 2nd sub there would be significant redesigns and new class number 855M.
Borei too was from that time, but Russia put much higher priority on it and actually produced 3 of them, before modernizing the design.

Do we have any comparison of location or shape of that conformal sonar.. compared to the First 955 (The Yuri Dolgruky) ?

The first 3x Boreis were built using hull sections from unfinished Pr 971 Schuka-B/Akulas. I expect that Russia decided they needed new SSBNs more than they needed new SSNs.

Would it kill you to at least give a title since you are too much of dickhead to give summary?

Re: Project 955: Borei class SSBN
I highly doubt the image posted by Hole is altered. It looks to me that more assets were invested in the frontal hull section including
a more sophisticated acoustic detection system and likely undeclared missile and torpedo assets. If the redesign was trivial then
such a large difference would not be involved.

Re: Project 955: Borei class SSBN
The sail is also longer. They need to carry more missiles to make holes in the ice & perhaps decided to change the layout for extra forward space. The hull itself may be longer. More supplies carried=longer endurance.

Although it has never been any info about the 955A being longer then the original version. They used the nose section from unfinished Akulas on the first 3 subs and that should make them some what diffrent. The back should be the same, it carries the same number of missiles.
At the same time...while looking at the picture....something seems a bit of with the forward part of the 955A....something isnt right.

It does have somewhat longer hull:

This graphics is significantly different from the photo posted above. And it's not an optical illusion. The graphic looks like speculative fan art.

Re: Project 955: Borei class SSBN
Why should a modernized SSBN be of the exact same length as the 1st 3 that used hull sections from disassembled & unfinished SSNs? It would surprise me if it is.
