SPL-30, Vietnamese version of Russian AGS-30 automatic grenade launcher but small improvement. SPL-30 can shoot extended range GPD-30 grenades up to a range of 2.100 meters
Nice, but the GPD-30 round is a Russian round that was developed quite some time ago and it has that extended range in any 30mm grenade launcher that uses that calibre and type of ammo.
(ie the AGS-30 can fire that round to that distance too).
I am guessing they are licence producing both the weapon and the round, which is good because such weapons are very very potent.
In comparison you can fire HMGs to 2km and sometimes even more but you have to hit what you are firing at to do damage so at that range you are probably firing at aircraft or vehicles or buildings.
With a 30mm grenade launcher you don't need to make direct contact with infantry in the open.... landing at their feet can be enough to stop an advance.. a burst of grenades can be rather devastating against infantry and light structures.
I seem to remember Desert Storm was the first American war where more 40mm grenades were used than 7.62mm HATO.
