This channel dives deep into how developers have done things the lazy way thanks to UE5 engine and DLSS and frame gen nonsense

I am watching some YouCrap videos on the new Nvidia card releases and they are all taking the MSRP at face value. Buyers will
not see the MSRP and will see some jacked up prices based on the usual "short supply" BS that follows video cards right to the end
of their market life. There is actually a surge in prices at the end because the supply is drying up. That's essentially treating
    trash like gold.

Here in Turdope's toilet Kanada, the video card prices are simply a scam. They are around twice the price compared to the US even
if the exchange rate is around 1.4. Bend over and take it Canadians. The selection of products on Amazon.ca is vastly less than in
the USA and also much higher for similar products. Considering that Kanada is a country spread along the US border this is ludicrous.
I have not seen an explanation of this BS. But it is likely that the Kanadian grubbermint is shaking down imports with taxes so
vendors are not interested in losing money in some small market.

yeah, when the RTX xx70 series end up being over $1000 CAD, it becomes a major joke.

Remember cards have never gone down in price since the crypto mining and covid supply shortages. Between scalpers and tariffs the new normal will probably see morons paying for 5060s at 4090 prices.  Razz

The $2000 GPU is basically doing the same shit as the $5 app, just with a lot less overhead because of the added AI compute hardware.

That being said the latency penalty is not really that bad. If you are playing a third person action game with limited aiming and more melee combat you won't feel the ick as much. If you play with a controller you won't even feel it.

I can see a lot of use from locked FPS games like Elden Ring that are played with controllers, so you get a lot of visual smoothness from the excess GPU horsepower that would've otherwise gone idle.

The whole market is a scam. The new B580 from Intel has a bizarre issue where it takes a performance hit at 1080p compared to 1440p. This is
deliberate nerfing since the B580 would be the best choice for a cheap upgrade. People who need to run at 1440p and higher have issues.

As usual, it is nearly impossible to find a B580 at MSRP. This $250 US card is going for around $600 in Kanada from Amazon. Shops list it at around
$350 but have no supply. What a retarded joke.

That's not all, it actually takes a massive hit with a slower CPU. So the great performance scores were with a 9800x3d. But with a 5600, boom. Drops more than half and even the lows of a 4060 outdoes the avg of a 580. It's all due to driver overhead.

Not that easy. I checked Aliexpress and Taobao and I cannot find an Intel B850 GPU listing.

Only hope I have so far, is the RX 9070xt from AMD.

I am keeping keen eye on that. I could always make a trip down to the US and purchase it locally at a microcenter and probably save money.

The real Witcher 3 sequel just dropped.

Such a shame its on UE5. Whelp. Better get used to the blur filter, hitches and after-images in your games I guess. Razz

Don't forget shelling out the equivalent of a car down payment for a monster rig to play these slops at 30fps 1080p upscaled and with frame gen. Razz

Its not. Frankly most games don't really need dynamic lights - even open world titles. Baked lightmaps are perfectly fine and when done properly looks much closer to path tracing indoors than advanced ray tracing on most games.

In fact, why the hell hasn't the industry just updated its tools to automatically add baked lightning with path tracing as reference? Sounds so much easier than trying to brute force it with hardware.

Only major exception is Metro Exodus Enhanced edition and that's because it actually has a functional lighting based stealth system.

Not that easy. I checked Aliexpress and Taobao and I cannot find an Intel B850 GPU listing.

I use a different online service and one of the problems I find is that they ship from the US or Australia or China, but many things from each different place can't be shipped to me. They wont say why, it is mostly cellphone brands or different types of battery or other such nonsense.

Often something is made in China and the US but I can get the Chinese made product but not the American made product here in New Zealand... which suits me fine... most of the time the Chinese made product is cheaper and gets here faster.

Its not. Frankly most games don't really need dynamic lights - even open world titles. Baked lightmaps are perfectly fine and when done properly looks much closer to path tracing indoors than advanced ray tracing on most games.

I remember my first ray tracing programme.... I got it in the late 1980s... I would spend hours setting up a scene with simple objects and light sources and a camera and then set the machine to start ray tracing. It usually took all night to create one 640 x 480 screen image frame.

    Not very practical these days.

BTW regarding the female characters in western computer games, I haven't paid that much attention... but with female characters being equals to male characters in adventure games since they started, this is not really something new. You can claim women and men are the same and are equal but there is a reason there is womens boxing and mens boxing and they don't mix them up.

You can find a woman that is stronger than a man... but there are strong women and weak women and strong men and weak men and weak men are probably about the middle range of women in terms of strength and the strong women would be in the middle of mens strength range.

It is not a judgement it is just a biological fact.

Pretending a woman can be as strong as a man is an argument a femenist will try to push until you mention that if that is the case why, in times of war, are women not put on the draft and sent to die in a war...

You don't play a female character to get a stronger player... you play a female character for a change or for the eye candy of watching her arse all game instead of some guys arse.

This brick not only costs more, it weighs a pound heavier and sips more than twice the power of my gaming laptop yet still requires the magic of fake pixels to achieve the desired performance - same as the laptop.

What the **** are we really doing here?
