"The engineer soldiers" - Vietnamese and Laos version

Sing by the Laos National Arts Performers

I am walking under the night dew
And I see my beloved engineer soldiers
The soldiers who are still working
To build the road lead to my village.

Oh, the soldiers in these nights
Come to my village under the starry sky
The soldiers who I have heard
Who are warmly welcomed in my village.

Ah ! The white flowers bloom on the green hills
And the sweer scent lingering in the air
The road you build is going through our village
I missed our beloved engineer soldiers.

Ah ! It's your hand that overcome mountains and rivers
Demine the road and build the bridge
And when the invaders are defeated
Come to our village, my beloved soldiers...

"The sound of the Balalaika on Đà River"

The song was performed in the music program "Songs of the October Revolution" to commemorate the Bolshevik Revolution and the great friendship between Vietnam and Russia.

The song's lyrics is an excerpt from a namesake Vietnamese poem made to express the gratitude of Vietnam to the great assistance of the Soviet Union in the construction of the Hoà Bình Electric Dam on the Đà River.

The full original content of the poem

    The Balalaika sound
    Like a peaceful wind
Flowing through the gentle birch trees.
    Like the shy eyes
Of the damsel seeing herself at the well
    In autumn
    So subtle
    Like the song
    Vibrating amidst the mountain dew
    So far
    Like the swan
    Flying high over the cloud

    The Balalaika sound
    Like the pristine white waves
    Splashing at the coastal rocks
    Like the eager rivers
    Hastily join the big sea
    Like the Kavkaz dance
    Attracting the passionate eyes
    Like the Sibir winds
Flowing to the end of the sky

    On the Đà River
    Under the moonlight
    There is the Balalaika music
From a Russian damsel with the chestnut hair
And the finger dancing on the bronze strings.

    At that time
The construction site is in deep sleep
The sky-reaching towers are in deep though
The dozer lines are in deep rest
And there is the passionate Balalaika
And a sprakling moonlight on the river.

    Tomorrow
As the dam connecting two highpoints
And a sea lying amidst the highland
Power will be spread all over the country
From our first grandiose electric dam

And where will be our beloved Russian friends ?
Verkhoyansk or Irkust, or other places in the Soviet Union ?
And still busy with other magnificent buildings ?

    But the touching Balalaika music
Still there, always, in Vietnamese hearts
    The Balalaika
    Is the Russian spirit
    Like tonight
    Vibrating throughout Đà river...

"The Champa Flower" - Laos and Vietnamese lyrics

    Laos folk song

Sing by the Laos National Arts Performers

"Champa" is the name of Plumeria alba, the national flower of Laos

    The beautiful Champa
    After days and nights
    The flower still there
    With her sweet fragrant

    O' Champa flower
    Seasons after seasons
    She blooms beautifully
    In our garden

    O' my beauty
    Time is passing
    But you are my sweetest
    You, always my beloved

    Your eternal beauty
    Your sweet fragrant
    Moving through huge distances
    Lingering in my heart

    I am always missing
    The image of my dearest
    For all of my life
    You are my most beloved

I don't have any specific music genre or band that I listen, I go for individual songs that I like so my playlist contains everything from Elvis and Guns'n Roses to Britney Spears and Arcade Fire

(Although it can get jarring when next song on playlist after Natalie Imbruglia is something from Marilyn Manson lol1 )

Half of my music are movie soundtracks and what people call "one hit wonders"

Only specific band I was ever into was The Offspring during highschool because they had two kickass albums in a row and I was flanel-wearing slacker back then but that was the exception

But I do have some stuff from both Evanescence and Nightwish so you weren't too off the mark thumbsup

When I first heard Evanescence I got excited because I thought it was a kiwi band from the 1980s called the Headless Chickens... a good female voice with some rappers really is the mixture...

    Дорогой длинною, Vietnamese lyrics.

The song was known in Vietnam as "Love song of the nomadic people"

Performed by Quỳnh Lan (vocalist) and Xuân Hoàng (guitarist)

    Translated from Vietnamese lyrics

The steppe is vast and limitless
    With beautiful flowers and aroma
But where is my beloved one ?
My darling, where are you know ?
O' my falcon, O' my cloud
Tell me, where do you hide my darling ?
I am following the footings for no avail
But my love will never perish
Months are passing and years are passing
Snow, rain and storms is coming
But my love is always green as the blooming trees.

Time flow is washing away the memories
With all the desires and dreams
I am still searching you for no avail
My darling, where are my darling ?
Or my steppe, please tell me.
My steppe, where do you hide my darling ?
I am following the footings for no avail
But my love will never perish
Months are passing and years are passing
Snow, rain and storms is coming
But my love is always green as the blooming trees.

This is a great song by Aerosmith called "Jaded".  This song also features Mila Kunis who was born in the Ukraine, Soviet Union.

Rock and Roll has basically disappeared from Pop Radio here in America.

Black music was fairly good in the 70s, 80s and early 90s; The emergence of hip hop really did lower the quality of their music and corrupted a few generations of American youth and poisoned their minds and musical tastes. I think R&B, Country and Rock and Roll suffered as a result of the rise of hip hop.

I have always been fond of the song "Come Back To Me" by Janet Jackson. I really like the music video as it shows really beautiful scenes of Paris; this song has such a nice melody.

But too bad Paris doesn't look like this anymore.

Another great song from this era by Mariah Carey, "Vision of Love";This song right here made me fall in love with Mariah Carey. So talented.

A big culprit in the decline of black music and music in general on the radio is the 1996 Telecommunications Act. Clinton and the Republican oligarchs in Congress are to blame for this.

This is an excerpt from an online website about the consequences of this legislation:

"After Telecom was passed, we began to see one company in particular buy out every local radio station in the country. In many cases they would buy up the AM spectrum as well and shut down the station. That company is called iHeartMedia, or more commonly known as Clear Channel. Clear Channel quickly grew from owning 40 radio stations in 1996, to their peak of 1225 in 300 cities by the year 2002 and dominating the audience share in 100 of 112 markets. Today there are only 82 independent radio stations left. What does this mean for our music? Almost overnight every radio station in the country no longer had connection to the local music scene where folk and rock & roll and blues were born out of. We went from over 15 genres being played on the radio, to only one. Clear Channel likes to play what sells, so you get your choice of pop music or popular music. You can’t walk into a radio station anymore and ask the Disc Jokey to spin your record. DJ’s no longer control the playlist. They don’t take requests from their audience."
