It seems Yak-130 will sooner or later get its radar and become combat capable plane.

Actually I often think that we should get a few squadrons equipped with this aircraft.Viktor wrote:It could be interesting cheap attack and point defense plane for a countries that dont have much money to spend and train at the same time.medo wrote:It seems Yak-130 will sooner or later get its radar and become combat capable plane.
There were some announcements by our politicos that we might get some MIGs (same as Serbia) though for a small and poor country, I feel this makes much more sense. In fact it makes so much sense, that I don't think our government will ever decide to do it.

Re: MAKS-2013 Photos & Discussions
M.Pogosyan: "The portfolio of available orders will ensure the stable development of the KLA"
Traditional press conference of the president, "United Aircraft Corporation" (UAC) at MAKS this year did not bring sensational news. It fully reflected the calm and the planned course of the development of the aviation industry.
As a result of the work at the MAKS-2013
"This is special and MAX for the first time shows the plans that were standing in front of" United Aircraft Corporation "to diversify production aircraft not only in the segment of military aircraft, but also in the segment of civil aviation and transport, - M.Pogosyan said in his opening remarks to the press conference. - I would like to say that this MAKS we came up with a good performance on the implementation of our production plans. " Thus, in the first half of 2013, consolidated revenues KLA compared with 2012 increased by 29% and, according to president of the corporation, at the end of the year exceeds the threshold of 200 billion rubles. In the past year, the figures were 171 billion rubles. "We are showing steady growth, and this is the basis for our further movement," - said M.Pogosyan.
Speaking about the results of the MAKS-2013, the corporation's president said that the KLA has signed contracts for the supply of aircraft and agreements that will soon be transformed into contracts for a total of 173 aircraft. Catalogue value of these contracts is approximately $ 9 billion in addition, the Corporation has entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Defence for the maintenance of equipment. The cost of the contract - about $ 3 billion Thus, the total amount of the contracts entered into by the KLA to max is about $ 12 billion, "This is a significant backlog of orders that available to the KLA, and provides a stable development of the company in the medium term," - said M . Pogosyan.
In the field of civil aviation KLA signed contracts with leasing companies that, in the opinion of the President of the corporation, is a fundamentally important point: it is the creation of conditions for the operational leasing of modern aircraft, including the Sukhoi Superjet 100 and the MS-21 project. M.Pogosyan called indicative factor that the development program SSJ-100 will increase the pace of progress of the aircraft on the market. Contracting is also the MS-21 will allow a smooth transition from the tests for serial production. Corporation "Irkut" in preparation for this, increasing its production capacity. In this case, the planned volume market for civil engineering KLA are consistent with those not only its own analytical forecasts, but the Italian partners and analytics corporations and partners in related industries.
Transport plans
In the field of air transport was a presentation of the IL-76MD-90A, which is completed the next phase of testing. From next year the company will supply its armed forces in the framework of the contract signed with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Answering the question of cooperation with the Ukrainian "Antonov" Project An-70 and An-124 "Ruslan", the president said the KLA, that the terms and requirements for the production of super-heavy transport are not yet defined. The An-70 is currently being tested, the results of which the Ministry of Defence will decide if you need a Russian army that plane. This decision depends on whether the KLA will develop this project. However, from a joint venture with the "Antonov" UAC is not going to come out, and now planned works on specific projects, including the production of the An-148.
Weaponry
For combat aircraft KLA presented at the MAKS full range of military aircraft produced by the corporation. "Flight program demonstrates the level we have achieved in terms of flight performance of our aircraft - said M.Pogosyan. - The stands you can see the equipment for these aircraft, which corresponds to put in front of us and the level superior to foreign counterparts."
The main driver of growth of the corporation will be exactly civil and transport direction, said M.Pogosyan. But this does not mean that the KLA will reduce production of military equipment. Moreover, the volume of military supplies will also increase.
The volume needs of the army under the state program today is about 600 aircraft. Those contracts that have been signed and are to be signed in the future, are in the process of implementation. "None of the contracts or at our initiative or on the initiative of the Ministry of Defense does not provide break - says M.Pogosyan. - In addition, work is under way to conclude a new contract. Approximately 70% of the state armaments program we have already been contracted." In the past year, the corporation has put the Ministry of Defence 35 aircraft this year - 65 in 2014, shipments will rise even more. "We have the capacity, the customer has a need for rearmament of the Air Force, and I think this problem will be resolved in accordance with the plans," - says M.Pogosyan.
Asked about the development of new equipment for the Ministry of Defense, M.Pogosyan said that the creation of new types of aircraft of the fifth generation in the KLA is not planned. The next development will be provided by the corporation under the state program military drone.
With regard to international cooperation M.Pogosyan said that the KLA has always focused on broad cooperation with Russian and foreign suppliers, and the experience of the Su-30MKI and SSJ-100 suggests that it is highly effective. He noted that created a "Sberbank Leasing" joint venture will also facilitate the withdrawal of products KLA on the foreign market. In this case, the joint venture will not compete with the Sukhoi Superjet International. "This is an opportunity to give customers a new financial instrument, - he said. - Our goal - to work together on this market."
M.Pogosyan also addressed the issue of transfer of UAC aircraft repair plants, which aims to support the Ministry of Defense aircraft fighting condition. The three-year contract by about 90 billion rubles will form a long-term business plan boot. "Corporations will have to diversify its activities in order to learn new models of aircraft repair, which now comes the Defense Ministry. Aircraft repair and businesses will be in close cooperation to address this issue - he said. - In addition, it is possible to concentrate the responsibility for the repair of aircraft within the same company . "
Staff
Asked about staffing, M.Pogosyan reminded the conference with higher education institutions, which signed an agreement on the establishment of an educational cluster. "I think that training is one of the key tasks that will help the corporation reach the 2020 production volume of $ 15 billion, and by 2025 to exceed $ 25 billion we need to double the volume of production compared with 2012 in 2015" . It will help to solve this problem new footage. "We have programs with major aeronautical universities, and we will expand the range of tasks - said M.Pogosyan. - Yesterday we discussed the introduction of the achievements that have in the educational institutions in projects KLA."

With something like a Damocles pod on its centreline a current model Yak-130 would already be a very potent light aircraft... with the small 80kg AESA being developed for the naval Ka-52 it would be a rather useful little all weather fighter plane able to use a range of radar and optical and IR and satellite guided missiles and bombs. It seems Yak-130 will sooner or later get its radar and become combat capable plane.

52 and 82 orders at MAKS 2013 respectively for SSJ and MS-21.
No numbers for An-148 and An-158 on the chart. But we know that Cuba has ordered an additional 3 An-158s.
The chart also mentions 5 Mi-17 and 5 Ka-62 from Columbia.
And 100 Bombardier Q-400 Next Gen.

Bombardier has signed much larger contract than the Russian companies. What is it's relationship with Russia? as I understand an assembly line would be built in Russia.52 and 82 orders at MAKS 2013 respectively for SSJ and MS-21.

Some details of Bombardier plans in Russia

MONTREAL -- Bombardier is attempting to deepen its roots in Russia, signing three preliminary agreements Wednesday, including one that contemplates a Q400 final assembly line for some 100 turboprops that could be worth US$3.4 billion at list prices.
The Montreal-based plane and train manufacturer said it will work with Rostekhnologii, a state corporation controlled by the Russian Federation, to assess the creation of a joint venture to manage the production of aircraft for Russian customers.
The final assembly line in Russia would complement its Toronto operations, where the final assembly of the 70- to 80-seat turboprop currently take place.
The sales and manufacturing agreement is expected to be finalized in 2014.
Russian leasing company Ilyushin Finance Co. signed a letter of intent at the MAKS Air Show to acquire 50 Q400 NextGen aircraft. A market development agreement reached with Rostec and its aircraft leasing subsidiary, Avia Capital Services, could place at least another 50 planes in the region.
"Developing local roots in strategic markets is at the core of Bombardier's strategic framework and we have identified Russia as being key to our growth and sustainability," said Mike Arcamone, president of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft.
"The agreements signed today are the next step towards ensuring our long-term competitive position in the Russian Federation and will help secure (Rostekhnologii's) ongoing establishment of an aviation centre of excellence."
Ilyushin said its intent to purchase 50 Q400s and a recent firm order for 32 CSeries CS300 aircraft will help local operators to expand regional travel.
"The Q400 NextGen aircraft's excellent fuel efficiency and operational costs, interchangeability with jet service, comfort and outstanding environmental qualities, make it an ideal choice for diverse operations across Russia's vast landscape," said director general Alexander Rubtsov.
Bombardier also agreed to enter into exploratory discussions with leading Russian aircraft manufacturer Irkut Corp. to develop customer support infrastructure for its 150- to 212-seat MS-21 commercial aircraft that is scheduled to enter into service in 2017. The two firms would also explore other collaboration.
Analyst Walter Spracklin of RBC Capital Markets said the agreements are an attempt by Bombardier at "locking in" the Russian market for the Q400 against its main rival ATR.
Bombardier's product is more expensive at US$34 million compared with US$19 million for ATR, but the Q400 range is 900 kilometres longer at a "more practical" 2,500 kilometres. The Q400 has eight to 10 more seats, up to 35 per cent more cargo volume and can fly up to 90 knots faster than ATR's product.
"With the potential establishment of a joint venture and a final assembly line in the region, we see Bombardier establishing the Q400 as the market leader in the turboprop segment in Russia," he wrote in a report.
The agreements could "revitalize" the Q400, whose orders have been lagging, added Cameron Doerksen of National Bank Financial. Bombardier has received just 14 Q400 orders this fiscal year and has a backlog of 36 aircraft. ATR has received far more orders of late.
Bombardier has delivered 439 of the 475 Q400s that had been ordered as of June 30 by some 50 operators in more than 30 countries.
"Bombardier management has been touting the Russia market as a sales prospect for the Q400 and there have been recent Russian press reports on the possibility of a deal so this news is not a major surprise," Doerksen wrote.
There are currently more than 120 Bombardier commercial regional jets in service in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Bombardier is forecasting a market demand of approximately 400 aircraft in the 20- to 99-seat market in the region over the next 20 years.
In June 2012, the Q400 received aircraft type approval to operate in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Q400 NextGen turboprop airliner is the successor to Bombardier's Dash 8/Q-Series family of aircraft.
Alexey Fedorov, managing director of aviation projects at Rostekhnologii, said the deal will contribute to the fleet renewal of its airlines, improve flight safety and reduce fares on regional routes.
"We are entering an important stage of validation towards formalizing the creation of this joint venture that will lay the foundation for the future of Russian turboprop aviation," he said.
Assembling the Q400 aircraft in Russia won't affect production rates in Toronto, but it's premature to know the impact on Bombardier's global supply chain and potential first delivery of the aircraft, added spokeswoman Marianella de la Barrera.
"These agreements are all at a preliminary stage and the details of the industrial plan, the timing, the next series of discussions for what suppliers come on board all of that is in discussion and our view is that they could be concluded into definitive agreements in 2014," she said in an interview.
On the Toronto Stock Exchange, Bombardier's shares gained 10 cents, or 2.2 per cent, at C$4.67 in midday trading Wednesday.

Quite Ironical and Funny they managed to sell 10 Helicopters at MAKS !
5 Ka-62 and 5 Mi-17
I guess with the order book of $12 billion at MAKS UAC would be too dissapointed.

MAKS: New lease of life for latest Mi-8/17 variant
Russian Helicopters has shown the first prototype of the Mil Mi-171A2 at the MAKS air show in Moscow - the latest variant of the ubiquitous Soviet-era Mi-8/17 medium-twin helicopter, which traces its lineage back to the 1960s.
Certification trials are under way for the multi-role type, with a second flight test aircraft due to join the programme by December. Approval is targeted for the end of 2014, with service entry following in early 2015.
Updates include new FADEC-equipped Klimov VK-2500PS-03 turboshaft engines, improved main rotor blades and a redesigned tail rotor. Maximum take-off weight has increased by 1,000kg to 13,000kg (29,000lb), while cruise speed also grows by 21kt to 140kt (259km/h), with maximum speed rising to 151kt.
The main gearbox, transmission components and rotor head have been modified, while the main rotor blades are now made from composite material. An X-shaped tail rotor has replaced the previous three-bladed design, leading to a reduction in noise.
Mikhail Komar, director of the Mi-8/17 programme, says test pilots have reported that the new components improve the helicopter's manoeuvrability and cut vibration levels.
Offshore operators have shown interest in the new model, says Komar, but the type will also be offered for other roles, including search-and-rescue and passenger transport.
Russian Helicopters is aiming to reduce acquisition costs through the use of a basic layout with minimum equipment that can be configured for different operational requirements, he adds.

Re: MAKS-2013 Photos & Discussions
Interesting new light aircraft:
It seems to have two 7 shot 80mm rocket pods under its belly, which suggests military interest in the aircraft... or perhaps use in anti avalanche or smoke marking roles.
Would need a Russian engine to be suitable for military use though... the VVS Russian aircraft markings suggests a military version... whether it is official or just proposed is another matter.
The Czech engines are in the 750-800hp power range, which would mean probably the best Russian engine for this aircraft would be the Klimov VK-800... which would be ideal as it is a new engine that could also replace other foreign engines in the Ka-226T and the Ansat and could be used in this light aircraft to replace the An-2 in many roles.

Re: MAKS-2013 Photos & Discussions
Note regarding the VK-800, the Klimov page needs updating:
http://www.klimov.ru/en/production/helicopter/VK-800V/
But according to this page:
http://www.uk-odk.ru/eng/products/helicopter/vk800v/
It is in serial production... for what aircraft is not clear.
Yet on this page it is still in testing...
http://www.rostec.ru/research/project/86
This looks like it would be a very useful engine for a range of fixed and rotary winged aircraft... I hope it makes it through testing and is used... the An-2 needs an affordable replacement.
If this plane can carry rocket pods and perhaps gun pods they could use it to replace those light planes they had before... SM-92 or something?
With this aircraft they can carry paratroopers and armament to support them for light patrolling duties....
