    https://www.sigidwiki.com/wiki/29B6_%27Kontayner%27_OTH_Radar

29B6 commonly uses 50 sweeps/sec (max range 3000 km), but it has been seen with 25 sweeps/sec (max range 6000 km) and 100 sweeps/sec (max range 1500 km). 29B6 uses Frequency Modulation On Pulse (FMOP), unique among OTH Radars since they tend to use Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW).

How does reducing the sweeps increases its range ?

I suspect that that as the sweep frequency increases the beam has less time to illuminate the targets and return sufficient signal for the detector to process out the noise and confirm the contact? The net effect is to degrade the effective range against a standard target size.

Yes, reducing the sweep means sending more photons (for the same installation power level) in the direction of interest and thereby
    getting more return signal.

So you can double the range of radar by just reducing the sweep by half that would be interesting.

Can they actually build such oth radar say with 10000 km range with high quality data that can cover all of europe , me and SE Asia and beyond ? Will it need more power or a new design from scratch ?

Think of it more as a balance... you can extend one feature by reducing another feature... for a fighter it can carry external fuel tanks on its weapon pylons so it extends flight range but at the cost of payload capacity and also probably flight speed and manouver performance.

Equally with no external stores and only half internal fuel will maximise speed potential at the cost of range and combat performance... but the top speed limitation might not be based on weight... it might be an engine limitation so there might not be any speed increase from only having a quarter of a tank of fuel instead of half a fuel tank in weight.

prototype of the new complex, which allows you to secretly and non-stop searches of people, is planned to be created in 2021, told RIA Novosti Deputy General Director of JSC RTI on intelligence and information systems Kirill Makarov.

A prototype of the new complex, which allows you to secretly and non-stop searches of people, is planned to be created in 2021, told RIA Novosti Deputy General Director of JSC RTI on intelligence and information systems Kirill Makarov.

“We are at the final stage of the research work, during which we achieved confirmation of the correctness of our approaches and ways of implementing this project. We are faced with the task of expanding the complex’s functionality, in particular, increasing the viewing angle of the inspection object and introducing new components of neural networks. What As for the prototype, provided that there are no constraints in a year and three months, we plan to submit it, "Makarov said.

The institute, he said, is already receiving technical requirements from customers. "Those who are interested in acquiring are registered for early sales of the inspection complex, despite the fact that the final prototype has not yet been created. Customers understand that the main advantages that distinguish us from our competitors in the world are non-stop and covert inspection. Now it has not been implemented anywhere. Unless Israel has something similar, but the low resolution with which they work does not allow the use of neural networks for object recognition, "the source said.

Speaking about the element base, Makarov said that it is 85-90 percent domestic. “In the near future, domestic developers will be ready to present analogs of foreign components comparable in technical characteristics,” the deputy general director of RTI explained.

Regarding the effects of radiation on humans, Kirill Makarov noted that the complex is based on non-ionizing radiation. "Terahertz radiation is non-ionizing, it is safe for humans. There are corresponding emission standards, and our complex fits into these standards with a margin of five times. An emitter is being developed that will work over long distances and with less power," he said.

According to Makarov, while we are talking about a ten-meter corridor, which will accommodate three inspection zones. “Passing through these zones, a person will be completely remotely examined, and the neural network will be able to determine what it carries with itself and where it hides,” the agency’s interlocutor concluded.

Earlier in the RTI, it was reported that a sample of the inspection complex had already been created, demonstrating the fundamental functions and capabilities of the secret detection complex of dangerous objects (such as weapons) and prohibited substances.

Thanks to the use of two frequency ranges, the complex will determine with high resolution and distinguish between types of potentially dangerous objects using machine learning. The RTI noted that the properties of the waves make it possible to covertly place equipment behind the radiolucent walls of the corridors.

According to the developers, the applied technologies will be able to reliably determine the coordinates of potentially dangerous objects, their radio images under clothing, and identify prohibited substances. The company emphasized that the screening process using the technologies used is non-ionizing, in contrast to the X-ray screening systems currently in use.

In a sense that is a radar system, but effectively it is the sort of system you would have at an air port, or sea port, or border control building to scan for contraband on a person.... fire arms or ammo, drugs, or bombs etc...

It would make entry and exits from border checks much much faster as you would be scanned while waiting in queues for tickets or baggage or whatever...

I suspect they would also use sniffer dogs and guys with wands to check for metal objects, but only with people selected from the group for whatever reason... ie skin colour and presence or absence of a beard...

This is an English language website. Some here don't read Russian.

Surely if you think it is worth putting a post like this up it is worth going to the trouble of translating it? Rather than make multiple people translate it, or not bother which defeats your objective in the first place.

Its about air surveillance radars, here is the translation:

Defense forces: Far East strengthened with modern air defense systems

Previously, such a powerful radar dome was only in the Crimea.

The Far East will cover an impenetrable radar dome. The Ministry of Defense has completed the deployment of the latest Sky-M and Podlet stations in this region. Now, Russian air defense is capable of detecting at a distance of hundreds of kilometers, in addition to conventional aircraft, also drones, cruise missiles and even hypersonic aircraft. After finding the targets, their data will be transmitted in real time to military calculations - for this, the air defense group is strengthened by the Foundation-M automatic control system (ACS). Experts note that before such a single radar shield was only in the Crimea.

    Far East will repel blow

New weapons and equipment were received by one of the radio engineering brigades, which is deployed in the Far East, sources in the Defense Ministry told Izvestia. Previously, such systems were located in the Crimea - at the beginning of 2018, the "Nebo-M" radar was sent to the peninsula.

The most advanced radars and air defense systems have always been transmitted to border areas - this allows you to keep an eye on your neighbors in order to protect the country from an unexpected enemy attack, said Vice President of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems, Colonel Vladimir Anokhin.

“The situation in the Far East can hardly be called calm,” the expert told Izvestia. - The United States is currently playing an important role in the region. They have military bases in Japan, South Korea and several other Asian countries, which allows Americans to intervene in their affairs. States are actively using this, making often harsh statements regarding, for example, China’s policies. And the situation is unlikely to change. For more than half a century, Americans have invested huge amounts of money in their military bases and are not going to leave them. For example, the last joint exercises of the US and Japanese Armed Forces took place this year.

The fact that the new Russian weapons systems were the first to appear in Crimea and the Far East indicates the importance of these strategic directions for ensuring the country's security, the expert said.

The equipment received by the troops will help saturate the radar field in the Far East, believes former lieutenant commander of the Air Force on the issues of the combined air defense system of the CIS countries, Lieutenant General Aitech Bizhev.

“This replacement is planned and necessary,” the specialist told Izvestia. - New radars allow you to define targets in a wide range of heights. Most importantly, low-speed high-speed aircraft - cruise missiles, and subsequently hypersonic missiles, will not hide from them. ACS, responsible for the rapid collection and processing of information, is the basis of any modern air defense. Now the air defense units operate in a single information field, where the exchange of data streams between command posts and individual calculations is in electronic form in real time. This is a necessary condition for the accurate operation of modern air defense.

It is not possible to transmit target coordinates by phone, as they did before, today. By the end of such a conversation, the enemy will have completed all the combat tasks before him and will go unpunished, said Aitech Bizhev.

Radar stations "Nebo-M" and "Podlet" are highly mobile. If necessary, they can be transferred to the right place by ships or aircraft, the specialist noted.

    Look to the sky

The new generation of radars is made on the domestic element base and uses advanced phased array technology. According to the developers, this not only increases the capabilities of the equipment, but also simplifies its maintenance and repair.

The "Nebo-M" radar can detect not only aircraft, but also ballistic missiles at ranges of up to 1 thousand km. It will detect air and hypersonic targets at a distance of 600 km, which is twice the capacity of the previous generation of stations. Neither will camouflage targets with stealth technologies for the new radar - radars will recognize them without any problems. The Ministry of Defense stated that at least twenty units of such equipment would be delivered to the radio engineering troops by 2021.

Developed by the Almaz-Antey concern, the Podlet radar complements the "Nebo-M", detecting small targets at low altitudes of tens and hundreds of meters above the ground. Its main purpose is the detection and tracking of massive attacks by cruise missiles, as well as aircraft trying to break through an air defense system on a low-level flight. The station operates reliably even in conditions of active and passive interference. It is specially designed for collaboration with new air defense systems and can provide target designation for S-400 air defense systems.

The Fundament-M mobile automation complex for radio-technical troops, unlike its predecessors, is located in the same machine. With it, you can bring together information collected from a variety of radars and electronic intelligence tools in real time to get a single picture of what is happening in airspace.

I agree with you, mainly because I don't speak or read Russian, but there are several translation options available where you can copy and paste a link to get a translation easily enough.

If you post an article on this forum it has to be in English because this is an English forum.

If you post links with a description, then non English sources broadens our access to interesting articles even if we do have to do more than just a single click on a link.

I would think if you post a link then you want most people here to read it, which means posting a link directly to a translated version of the text, so it gets translated once instead of dozens or hundreds of times... or just ignored.

Russia to build three more Container-3M early warning radars

In December 2019, the first Container-3M radar station entered service in Mordovia, according to official data

MOSCOW, July 3. /TASS/. Construction of three more Container-3M missile defense early warning radars are underway in the Siberian, eastern, and the Kaliningrad directions, Russian Aerospace Forces Commander-in-Chief Sergei Surovikin said in an interview Friday.

"Currently, we have commissioned construction of three more such radar stations — the Siberian one, the eastern one and the Kaliningrad one — which would allow us to monitor airspace from all strategic aerospace directions," he said.

In December 2019, the first Container-3M radar station entered service in Mordovia. "This station conducts reconnaissance of airspace over Europe and the Middle East," Surovikin said.

    https://www.aorti.ru/media/news/rti-predstavil-novyy-sposob-obnaruzheniya-nevidimykh-obektov/

At JSC “Radiotechnical Institute named after academician A.L. Mintsa (RTI JSC), a member of RTI JSC, introduced a new way of selecting moving objects (SDO) made using stealth technology. The method is based on the analysis of radar shadow (RLT) of the observed object.

As part of the development of a new method, RTI JSC assessed the possibility of using radar shadow analysis by synthesizing the aperture of moving objects that arise at the stage of terrain mapping. As a result, it was possible to introduce a new model for calculating the RLT of a moving object and show that the method under consideration is simple to implement and can be used as an additional feature in the selection of moving objects.

“The developed method for observing“ invisible ”objects made using stealth technology is the result of the joint work of several educational institutions, enterprises of the military-industrial complex and small business. We have achieved viable cooperation, ”said Makarov Kirill , Deputy General Director for Intelligence and Information Systems of RTI JSC .

This method has high practical significance. If along with the image of an object shifted along the bearing, its shadow is observed, then direction finding should be carried out along it. In this case, the difference of the bearings of the radar image of the object and the shadow carries information about the speed of the object.

A new method reduces the level of direction finding errors. The proposed structural diagram of a multi-channel synthesized aperture radar (SAR) provides for the simultaneous formation of a high-resolution radar image, the selection of moving objects on board a small-sized aircraft, and the reception and transmission of data to a control center in real time.

It also means if an enemy is trying to infiltrate your base you can transmit the live position in real time on a map that other people can use to also locate and perhaps target the threat... they can reorient the map to their perspective and quickly locate the target marked there without fear of friendly fire... the same view can be sent to helicopter pilots or close air support aircraft or drones in an easy to read and understand way...

    Very nice...

Nice... so instead of a blip on a radar screen you get a map location for the threat/target...

The inevitable convergence of data sources with the advance of computing and observation capacity.
Like GIS which synthesizes all sorts information sources from ground level to satellite.
It also makes sense during war to reduce any waste of time and effort to synthesize data.

    Its not. https://www.aorti.ru/media/news/rti-kachestvenno-uvelichit-obemy-obrabatyvaemykh-dannykh-iz-kosmosa-za-schet-neyrosetey/

"In the opening remarks A. Leukhin outlined the competencies of RTI JSC in terms of the formation of radar information products. He demonstrated the results of a flight experiment with a mock-up of the X-band airborne radar system (hereinafter - BRLK), as well as the operation of the Automatic Recognition tool, which uses neural network methods. This tool will be used to process Earth remote sensing information.
The proposed X-band radar system for small spacecraft includes a five-section deployable digital active phased array antenna (hereinafter - CAFAR) and a signal control and processing unit. The key, to ensure the specified weight and size characteristics of the radar control system, is the design of the CAFAR section in the form of a modular unit with a 32-channel transceiver module board. The innovation is the network structure of the 160-channel CAFAR, each digital channel of which is based on an integrated circuit developed by JSC “SPC“ ELVIS ”.

I checked the product catalog of that companies website ELVIS and saw no photonic integrated circuits but MMICs, its easy to mistaken it for ROFAR because some information on that website said P-band, X-band, THz, centimeter, decimeter , and millimeter frequency locators. The company is at the forum but are just presenting airport security, safe city, other radar products and this elik satellite project.
