Project 11356 lead frigate Admiral Grigorovich to join Russian Navy in early November

LE BOURGET, October 29. /TASS/. The lead frigate of Project 11356, the Admiral Grigorovich, is to be handed over to the Russian Navy on November 7, a delegation of the Baltic shipyard Yantar, manufacturing the ships of the series, told TASS at the Euronaval 2014 exhibition in Paris on Wednesday.

“On November 7, we will hand over the lead frigate to the Russian Fleet at a solemn ceremony to be attended by Commander-in-Chief (Viktor) Chirkov,” the representative of the Kaliningrad-based Yantar shipyard said.

The Admiral Grigorovich was laid down in mid-December 2010 and was set afloat in March this year. The frigate is part of the six ships being constructed in Kaliningrad: the Admiral Essen, the Admiral Makarov, the Admiral Butakov, the Admiral Istomin and the Admiral Kornikov.

Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation said in June that the Black Sea Fleet is due to receive a series of six frigates of Project 11356 by 2017, a year later than initially planned.

The Yantar shipyard explained the delay by the fact that the sixth frigate is due to be laid down later than announced.

Euronaval 2014 is one of the world’s largest naval defense exhibitions. This year, the event takes place on October 27-31 at the Le Bourget exhibition center. The exhibition brings together over 350 companies from around 30 countries. More than 90 delegations from 65 countries are expected to attend the event. Russian news agency TASS is an official media partner of the exhibition.

This is strange. Without tests or tests will follow after hand over?

Normally the shipyard will run tests to make sure everything works the way it should, then they hand the ship to the navy who take it out and run more tests to make sure it does what it is supposed to do including launching weapons and detecting stuff, as well as defending itself and jamming and hiding etc.

When will Grigorovich sail to Black sea, or is she already there?
I suppose she will be based in Sevastopol and not Novosirisk.

How people can count 32 x Shtil-1 SAM launchers everytime really confuses me.
VLS Shtil-1: either 36 units or 24 units or 12 units, understand?

100mm gun turret isn't look right... Its the old Soviet-era style taht is fitted to the Indian Talwar (aka Burevestnik/Krivak IV). I guess the model was built before the new turret style was made public?

First Admiral Grigorovich Class Frigate to Join Russian Navy in August

The Project 11356 frigates are designed for anti-ship and anti-submarine warfare as well as for air defense missions. They can operate both independently or as part of convoys and naval task forces.

MOSCOW, April 8 (Sputnik) — The first in a series of six Admiral Grigorovich class (Project 11356) frigates, being built for the Black Sea Fleet, will be delivered to the Russian Navy in August, the United Shipbuilding Corporation said Wednesday.

"The delivery of the Admiral Grigorovich frigate is planned for August 2015," the company said in a statement.

According to the document, the frigate has completed mooring trials and will soon begin sea trials.

The Project 11356 frigates, displacing 3,850 tons, are designed for anti-ship and anti-submarine warfare as well as for air defense missions, operating both independently or as part of convoys and naval task forces.

The spokesman for the corporation's Yantar shipyard in Russia's westernmost exclave of Kaliningrad, where the 200-capacity frigate was laid down in late 2010, said preparations were being made for scheduled sea trials in mid-April.

The Black Sea Fleet, under the Southern Military District's organizational structure, is stationed in both Crimea and the neighboring Krasnodar Region and operates in the Black and Mediterranean seas.
