Two variants of the Il-112 will be delivered by 2018 according to Izvestia. An eight billion ruble contract will be signed in late September or October for
the development of the two prototypes.

The cancellation of the Il-112 in 2010 was another "gift" to Russia from the 5th columnist Serdyukov.

    Yup, real 5th columnist.

As if he was doing nothing in favour of his patrons in the west. If there were no foreign elements in the story then he would not be a 5th columnist.
But there were and he was in a hurry to do them all sorts of favours.

After the Ukraine coup anyone going around and claiming that NATO is just some nice club that means nobody no harm is totally clueless. These imperial meddlers started civil wars in Yugoslavia and in Ukraine. They clearly have the intent and ability to buy off hordes of insiders in the countries that are in their cross-hairs. The US has only been doing this since before WWII. Think Iran and Guatemala. Think Nicaragua. Think Indonesia.

Serdyukov not being an obvious sellout to the west, now that's thick and rich.

Please note the change in title.

I just did that because the Il-112 and Il-114 programs are likely to be closely related, and the circumstances of their revival are basically the same thing... pig headedness of the current government in Kiev.

Back on topic it is interesting they are looking at digitising the design of the Il-114 and then giving it a deep modernisation... presumably removing all the western avionics and equipment and replacing it with Russian kit.

The fact that they are working on new engines suggests the aircraft they will be producing for the Russian military will be economically useful for commercial airlines... with the upgrades all paid for by the military and orders for aircraft guaranteed it makes it much less of a risk for a commercial airline to make an order... which would make it much more competitive.

According to the article, the Russian engine is already more fuel efficient than the foreign models, it just has issues with reliability and parts life.

Klimov Company started the development of production engine for light military-transport aircraft Il-112
    Russian Aviaton » Wednesday October 22, 2014 14:40 MSK

St. Petersburg-based Klimov Company started development of next-generation production engine TV7-117SM for light military-transport aircraft Il-112, ITAR-TASS reports with reference to CEO of the company, Alexander Vatagin.

"We have received the performance specification for this engine, which assumes its further development in compliance with the program for development of the transport aircraft for Russian air forces", - he said.

Vatagin stated that the new engine matches its foreign analogues in terms of overall performance; moreover, some of its parameters are even better compared to the analogues.

"The engine features modular design, which allows decreasing cost of maintenance and time needed to repair it. This engine is one of the most fuel-efficient ones in its class, it offers low emission level and the highest power-to-weight ratio (2500 h.p.) in its class", - the CEO added noting that “engines for other advanced aircraft may be derived from TV7-117SM”.

Il-112 is a light transport aircraft, which is being developed in Russia. It should replace An-24 and An-26 aircraft. Military-transport version of the aircraft was developed for airlift delivery and paradrop of units of Russian airborne forces as well as cargo transportation. The jet may be operated from unpaved runways. According to Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian air forces need several tens of aircraft of the type.

Nikolai Merkushkin valued the project for launching production of Il-114 aircraft at 24 billion rubles
    Russian Aviaton » Wednesday October 22, 2014 14:40 MSK

The launch of production of upgraded Il-114 aircraft will require about 24 billion rubles of investments, governor of Samara Region, Nikolai Merkushkin, told RIA Novosti.

Earlier the Deputy Chairman of Russian Government, Dmitry Rogozin, said that President Vladimir Putin supports the idea of developing a passenger aircraft derived from Il-114. According to Rogozin, China is interested in joint production of the aircraft. He also added that this vehicle is able to carry out patrol missions on behalf of the Ministry of Defense.

"In order to launch the production of Il-114 we will need around 24 billion rubles allocated from the federal budget", — Merkushkin said noting that he hopes that the production will be launched in Samara Region. He believes that Aviacor is one of the most suitable enterprises for this task.

"The government will have to invest a lot of money, but Aviacor is a private company. Will the private company be able to invest money on parity basis? What relations will be established between the parties? And so on. This is the big problem. We are working on it… We will negotiate with the owner", — the governor added. Merkushkin also added: "We are ready to support the project no matter how complex the budget will be".

In August President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, instructed the government, Ministry of Defense, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to Privolzhsky Federal District (and other organizations involved) to estimate the cost of a project for launching mass production of Il-114 aircraft at Aviacor aviation plant (Samara). Experts told RIA Novosti that the vehicle needs significant upgrade; in particular, the engines and all the avionics must be replaced.

Il-114 turboprop was developed by Ilyushin design bureau in 1980s for operation on regional routes. According to some sources, less than 20 Il-114s have been manufactured. Later a number of civil and military versions of the aircraft have been developed.

Aviacor is the aviation plant, one of the Russian aircraft industry’s largest enterprises. Its core business is aircraft production, repair, maintenance as well as deliveries of spare parts for Tu-154M and An-140 aircraft. The plant is one of Russian enterprises having experience in the area of mass production of civil and military aircraft (using components manufactured by the enterprise on its own). It is part of Russian Machines Corporation, which comprises machine-building assets of Basic Element Group.

Vladimir Putin approved the start of production of Il-114 aircraft in Russia
    Russian Aviaton » Tuesday November 25, 2014 16:24 MSK

President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, approved the start of production of Il-114 aircraft in Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, Dmitry Rogozin, said. According to him, Il-112V and Il-114 projects were started “after tough negotiations”, Vzglyad reports.

«Quite recently the president approved the start of production of this turboprop aircraft. This will help us develop the segment of regional air transportation,» Rogozin said.

During his speech delivered at the ceremony dedicated to the opening of Aviation and Cosmonautics – 2014 conference held in Moscow Aviation Institute Dmitry Rogozin said that Russia is destined for development of high technologies.

«Russia is destined for development of high technologies. It is the essential “business card” for any large and respected country. What the future holds for our aviation, cosmonautics and engine building? I think the answer is obvious,» he said.

Dmitry Rogozin explained that both “aviation and cosmonautics speed up the development of other industries”. «In fact these are the high technologies that should help Russia decrease its dependence on oil and gas,» he added noting that the country must train high-skilled specialists in light of this situation.

We remind you that production of the first light military-transport Il-112V aircraft was put on hold at the site of Voronezh Aircraft Manufacturing Company (also known as VASO) in July 2011. Following the results of meeting held at Ilyushin design bureau Rogozin said that the parties made a decision to speed up the development and start of mass production of Il-112V light military-transport aircraft.

It was reported in August that the first Il-112V flying prototype will be manufactured in 2015 and its flight testing will be started. Il-112V should replace the outdated An-24 aircraft operated by Russian armed forces.

In October 2014 Dmitry Rogozin said that President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, supported the idea of development of a new aircraft derived from Il-114.

Earlier representatives of Samara-based Aviacor aviation plant told Vladimir Putin at a meeting held in Samara that the enterprise is ready to start the aircraft’s mass production in 5 years; the project was assessed at 10–12 billion rubles.

"12 billion rubles is a large sum of money, but not in terms of this project", - the president noted and instructed the government to assess the expenses.

On October 13th Rogozin said that China is interested in joint production of an upgraded passenger version of Il-114 aircraft. On September 9th Dmitry Rogozin said that Ilyushin Company is ready to start mass production of Il-114 aircraft.

In August President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed the government to evaluate the feasibility of the project for launching mass production of Il-114 regional aircraft at Samara-based Aviacor enterprise.

Development of Il-114 twin-engine aircraft was started in early 1980s; the turboprop should have replaced Yak-40 and Tu-134 aircraft. The vehicle performed its maiden flight in 1990; the type certificate for Il-114 was issued seven years later.

Finally, the obvious comes out. Also funny considering Rogozin's babbling on the topic.

New president of UAC says making Il-114 in current form is pointless. They are looking at making a new plane with some commonality with Il-112.
Commonality might include engines, wing, and electronics. Fuselage will come from Il-114- but will be widened, so factually be new.

Assuming they even decide to go through with it.

In my humble opinion, they should just make a civilian version of the Il-112. that would be the most cost-effective solution.

Something like the AN-24 (civilian) and AN-26 (cargo) duo.

Actually looking at the design parameters on wiki they are both max 20-25 ton max weight aircraft with payloads of 4-6 tons with similar range and performance... I guess it would make rather more sense just to adapt the Il-112 design to whatever the Il-114 can do that the current Il-112 can't.. ie wider or taller or whatever.

Development of Il-112V aircraft should be completed by 2020
    Russian Aviaton » Wednesday March 4, 2015 14:31 MSK

Ilyushin Company is going to complete development of Il-112V light military-transport aircraft by 2020, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Deputy Director General on Program Management of Ilyushin Company, Sergey Artyukhov.

“The development should be completed by 2020,” Artyukhov said.

The contract with Russian Ministry of Defense for development of the aircraft was signed in December 2014. At present the development of design documentation is being completed; VASO is starting preparation for launching production of the turboprop.

In December Ilyushin Company reported that the first two Il-112V prototypes would be manufactured in 2016; they will be used for testing. The aircraft’s maiden flight is scheduled for the same year. About 30 Russian enterprises and around 50 suppliers will be involved in development of Il-112V.

Il-112V is designed for transportation, airlift delivery and paradrop of light combat vehicles and weapons, cargo and troopers as well as commercial cargo transportation.

Ilyushin Company was established in 1933 (part of United Aircraft Corporation). The company specializes in development, upgrade and testing of aircraft, preparation and support of aircraft production as well as provision of continued airworthiness of operated Il aircraft; it is cooperating with the Russia’s leading suppliers, scientific research organizations and the largest air carriers.

So what they are talking about is a 6 ton payload aircraft to replace the An-24 and An-26 and An-32, so really you could probably get away with two versions of the Il-112, with one using standard engines of modest performance with a passenger model and a cargo model to replace the An-24 and An-26 respectively to make it cheap and effective in those roles, while an uprated version with more powerful engines for operations in hot and high environments to replace the An-32.

The Il-112T transport model has already been proposed and the Il-112V (confusingly the Il-112V and Il-112B are the same aircraft with the B and V being the cyrillic/latin equvalents... ie B in cyrillic is a V in the English language.)

In such a case what we would need is a new model Il-112 with a lot more power for taking off at high altitudes and hot conditions.. the engines in the other versions are about 2,500hp engines so something in the 4-5,000hp range would be useful or perhaps a light jet engine...

Actually a jet version could also replace the An-72 in service... and of course when they are all entering service the An-140 can be used till they are worn out and then replaced with more Ilyusions too. Smile

The company "Ilyushin" is working for the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation on the draft of the IL-112V. The plane carrying capacity 6 tons should replace the old An-26 aircraft.

Russia's New Military Transport Plane Set to Make Its Maiden Flight in 2017

The Ilyushin Il-112, Russia's brand new light military transport plane, is slated to make its maiden flight in 2017, said Yury Borisov, a Russian Deputy Minister of Defense.

The aircraft's mass production is expected to be launched in 2019.

The twin-engine turboprop plane, developed by the Ilyushin Aviation Complex (JSC IL), will be manufactured by the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association at an aircraft plant in Voronezh, located some 400 kilometers (250 miles) south of Moscow. It will replace the Antonov An-26.

Russia's Ministry of Defense plans to purchase at least 35 Ilyushin Il-112 planes. Earlier, JSC IL said the company was ready to deliver more than 60 Il-112 aircraft to the military.

The transport plane is designed to carry out missions in any geographic or weather conditions. It has a payload of 6 tons and can travel a maximum distance of 5,000 kilometers (3100 miles).

The project, launched over a decade ago, was canceled in 2011, but the work on the Il-112 resumed in 2013.

The news is related not to the total number of purchased aircraft, but those purchased for the first state acquisition program - the one up to 2020.

Comments claim that the reason is likely due to delays in organizing the production of the aircraft; it may not be ready for production until 2019; which will make the acquisition of 62 aircraft until 2020 very unlikely and the plans will have to be changed to become more modest.
