Wouldn't be surprised that these 4 are those. Five were ordered for 2016.

Russia, Turkey Sign Agreement on Coordinating Airstrikes in Syria against ISIS, Nusra

Russian and Turkish military officials have agreed to coordinate aerial attacks against the positions of foreign-sponsored militant groups in Syria, and signed a memorandum on combat flight safety during missions in Syrian airspace.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the agreement, reached in Moscow during a Thursday meeting, specifies a course of action to avoid incidents during flights over Syrian airspace.
“The memorandum establishes mechanisms of coordination and interaction between Russian and Turkish aircraft during airstrikes against terrorist targets, as well as measures aimed at preventing flight incidents involving aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles in Syrian airspace,” the statement read.

No indication that an expansion had been agreed, just a hope. Ready for Trump perhaps.

The Pentagon welcomes the expansion of the Memorandum of Understanding with Russia on flight operations in Syria, a US official said.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Department of Defense supports the expansion of the Memorandum of Understanding with Russia on flight operations in Syria, Acting US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Elissa Slotkin said in a briefing on Friday. "We have constantly improved upon that document since we started," Slotkin told reporters. "I am in total favor to expand upon it as needed."

On October 20, 2015, senior officials from the US Defense Department and the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a Memorandum of Understanding on flight safety in Syria's airspace which, to date, has proven effective.

In October 2016, US Central Command spokesman John Thomas told Sputnik the United States is searching for processes and technologies that can improve the effectiveness of communication and deconfliction with Russia.

I wonder if Russia send any new Su-25SM3 in Syria. It would be excellent oportunity to test SOLT-25 targeting complex and new data link complex for night operations against terrorists.

It would be an ideal opportunity to test the aircraft and new weapons and joint operations supporting ground forces.

It will also be a test of the self defence capabilities of the upgraded aircraft.

And an opportunity to get real experience for air crew and ground crew.

Not sure, but this could be one of the SU-25SM3 now in Syria. Does it look like one? Is it warm enough for that uniform?

The General doing the briefing said they were the latest model Su-25SM with a new targeting system. Sounds like the SM3 to me. As for the uniform, going from minus 15 to plus 15 will do that to you Smile

Can confirm. I am in Limassol, Cyprus(15-18C) and few days ago coastline was swarmed with Russian servicemen. I would say all coastline restaurants were taken by them most were in their mid 20, tall as fuck all in black new uniforms I've never seen. Very tidy looking, not old Soviet ones. Me and my wife tried to chat but OPSEC was strong in them, there was starshina next to each group who watched them over:) too bad didn't check marine traffic and find out what ship(s) they were sailing with

This is the Yandex translate of that item. Nor sure how it applies to Syria.

The crews of su-25СМ3 aviation regiment of the southern military district (JUVO), stationed in the Krasnodar region, started to perform the practical flight, in which it seeks to destroy the air defenses of the enemy.

To implement flight missions attracted more than 100 pilots and technicians as well as professionals of the ground providing the services involved around 20 planes.

During the flights the pilots improve their skills of flying aircraft in mountainous terrain and difficult weather conditions at different altitudes.

In the combat steam the crews of the SU-25СМ3 must overcome the air defense system of the imaginary enemy, to hit ground targets with the use of aircraft missiles, guns, bombed.

Pilots will also have to work out the launches of guided missiles and air bombs to reset the positions of the imaginary enemy in one of the aircraft polygons in the Kuban.

It is planned that in the coming year, the crews of su-25СМ3 will make more than 1.5 thousand sorties with the practical application of standard weapons, which will be addressed the task of destroying the fleet of combat vehicles, air defense sites and bases of conventional enemy.

To clarify, the original plan was for 5 Su-25SM3's to be delivered in 2016. If 4 are in Syria today, it would kind of make this ^ difficult unless there are a whole lot of more Su-25SM3's then has been reported.

Six Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bombers attacked Daesh terrorists in Syria's Deir ez-Zor province on Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.'

"On January 21, 2017, six long-range Tu-22M3 bombers took off in Russia and delivered a group air attack against Daesh targets in the Deir ez-Zor province… Intelligence data confirms that the targets were successfully hit," it reads.

The airstrikes struck terrorist camps, ammunition depots, as well as militants and vehicles.

The bombers were covered by Su-30SM and Su-35S fighter jets which had taken off from the Hmeymim airbase.

After accomplishing the combat mission, all Russian planes returned to their bases.

Looks like FAB-250-270 or derivate. Abit hard to get scale from this angle.
