    We know immediately about every little "incident" between Russian bombers and American interceptors off the coast of Alaska and the Scandinavians crying wolf about Russian jets violating their air space. So we'd know about such a significant incident if it were true.

    So news stories today have;

    Iraq wouldn't mind Russian bombing ISIS on it's territory http://m.lenta.ru/news/2015/10/04/iraq_isil/

    Egypt supports Russian actions

    Gulf States, KSA and Turkey promise more support to anti-Assad forces or so the Guardian claims;

    Well in that case perhaps the Russian military can create a giant ECM shitstorm in that region so that all their fancy toys don't work? Nothing personal, just sending a message.

    It is the Guardian after all. Expect that the KSA and Gulf states should be soon free from military action in Yemen to send their forces to Syria in say about 2 weeks... of February 29ths Laughing

    1001 likes for Peskov, heh heh.

    http://www.rt.com/news/317597-syria-moderate-opposition-peskov/

    While the West accuses the Russian Air Force of bombing the moderate rebel forces in Syria instead of Islamic State, no one has clearly defined what moderate opposition is, Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said in an interview.

    “I don’t think anybody has yet explained what moderate opposition is, and Putin demonstrated quite active interest in the issue and asked in which way the moderate opposition was different from the immoderate opposition,” Dmitry Peskov told Rossiya 1 TV channel’s Sergey Brilyov.

    Peskov added that while speaking to critics in the West, Putin mentioned things such as “the [bombed] wedding in Yemen.”

    In short

    "Премьер-министр Ирака Хейдар аль-Абади заявил, что не возражает против нанесения Россией авиаударов по позициям террористической группировки «Исламское государство» (ИГ) на иракской территории после согласования этого вопроса с правительством. Он отметил, что «просьбу об этом направил Москве». Об этом со ссылкой на канал «Аль-Джазира» сообщает ТАСС. Аль-Абади считает, что обращение с подобной просьбой «ко всем с целью противостояния ИГ» отвечает интересам Ирака."

    Apparently Prime minister of Iraq, Abadi asked officially Russia to perform airstrikes aganist IS on Iraqi soil.

    Is this that answer to OPEC shenanigans ? I guess legally the moment the KSA is caught red handed, options for NFZ over KSA open up. Maybe BuSH was right over Vova. He's the one.

    RU Army is definitely using this opportunity to get rid of old ordinance and use up gear they do not plan on utilising in the future.

    Ivecos and Forprosts in Syria and Vistrels and Vodniks in Donbass (plus many other things over there)

    As for Su-24 Fencers, at this stage it is use 'em or lose 'em and they will be replaced with Su-30s, so I guess that VKS wants to give these old war birds one last big rodeo before they take their well earned place in the museums.

    Syrian Arab Army (SAA), in coordination with the National Defence Force (NDF) and troops of Syrian Social Nationalist Party (Ssnp), launched an offensive on the plain of al-Rastan in Homs, north, before that spent artillery preparation on the positions of the Islamist insurgency Al Jabhat Nusra and the opposition Free Syrian Army, using mortars and multiple rocket launchers, from their positions in Jaboureen and Kafr Na'an, - reports The Arab Source.

    While Syrian forces bombarded rebel Islamist videoconferencing Russia continued its air campaign, focusing on the main airstrikes controlled by al-Qaeda in Al-Rastan and Talbieseh. Russian air raids intensified Sunday morning. The fortified strongholds of militants in the area have been six strikes. All identified targets were hit with high accuracy, resulting in the terrorists in panic leaving these settlements.

    The main task facing the Russian Air Force at this stage is to eliminate positions and fortifications troops Jabhat al-Nusra in Talbieseh and al-Rastan. Timely air support plays an important role in this offensive - said the Syrian command. This is one reason why videoconferencing Russia continue to cause repetitive blows to the Al Qaeda-controlled zone, while their allies of the Syrian armed forces prepared for a major assault.

    This military operation in the plains of Al-Rastan allow CAA to release the area situated to the south of the military airport of the provincial capital Hama and Homs, and to regain control of the communications leading to Hama.

    Splendid. The day these "moderates" unite together with the FSA and ISIS to fight against Assad's forces will also be the day that even the USA will drop their support for them. Maybe then we'll finally see F-15s, A-10s, SU-25s and SU-34s collectively dropping 500kg. bombs on their asses.

    Russian strikes focus on Talbiseh/Rastan (Green). Might be prelude to SAA ground operation to retake Rastan-enclave

    Sorry can't get the map to download. The area is north of Homs and south of Hama. The Syrian Army controls most of the rest of this part of Syria. Some rebel units have already been pushed out of Homs suburbs.
