This is especially true now that the "rebels" are politically and militarily irrelevant.    The USA cannot use some minority element in a
country to invade it and operate by its own rules.   On the same basis anyone could invade the USA itself.

Russia is only playing a game.. to earn time .. so they can liberate other areas..
For Russia their main objective is to save Syria ,from being over run..and not to recover 100%
of Syria territory and after that ,help Syrian army to become stronger and to be well prepared to fight Americans..and push back them little by little from their territory. So is a long term goals war.. Eventually American citizens will get tired
of US presence in Syria and will demand US military to leave.

Its OK... US forces in Syria will have their own deconfliction zone soon enough...

    Interesting Reports..

    http://charly015.blogspot.com.es/2018/03/el-gps-falla-en-el-mediterraneo-oriental.html

On spanish ,but what it says is...

that GPS signal around Syria is
experiencing major issues.. since 2 months ago ,and that since 21 of march it have been more dramatic..
and that everyone is pointing fingers at Russia..  Smile

also that during ZAPAD 2017 exercises in belarus ,of Russia military ,the same happened...

So it looks true the rumors that Russia can jam US GPS system..
So Sad that NATO don't have such capabilities.. Smile

    Update..

    https://www.defensenews.com/air/2015/05/31/guided-bomb-makers-anticipate-gps-jammers/

There says Pentagon have been aware of GPS jammers since 2011 at least..
That North Korea have them.. but also IRAN.. that they used to confuse the American supposed to be
"stealth drone"... And the solutions to counter GPS jammers are as follows..

    1) Design Missiles that target GPS jammers..
-problem.. useless in zones with heavy air defenses like Syria and decoys to fool those
    anti GPS jammers....

2)Laser guidance.. assistance on the cruise missiles..
-Problem ,you need to be close to the target ~10km and with line of sight..
and is useless in bad weather and if the special forces can't get close enough to the target..
Reason why Syria needs to clear territory as much as possible in Syria ,to push farther any
potential laser guided attacks on Syria military base.

    3)TV camera assisted guidance...
-Problem.. lasers can blind /damage the optics in the cameras..
and if the missile is guided by radio, EW can jam the guidance too.. Cool
If the missile have automatic AI guidance ,not operated by control remote..
Russia can shot down the missile with its short air defenses.. or attack the missile
with direct energy attacks.. overwhelming the electronics..

So basically they even admit ,that there is no magic replacement for GPS guidance..
means NATO is really doomed.. if a fight with Russia. if they deploy all their EW toys..
Ballistic missiles or long range rocket artillery can be the better option ,but Russia have them too.

It's easy to jam gps. You enen have cheap civilian GPS jammers. Military GPS is better but still easy to jam once you analyze the signal and russian had time to analyze it. Most of countries can make such a jammer.

One thing is toy GPS jammers.. and another thing is Military ones..
Russia can jam GPS apparently at least 600km away.. and this can't be done
easily by anyone.. This is a powerful  tool ,that can literary make next to useless
the entire inventory of NATO in cruise missiles and precision weapons that depends on GPS..
and this is not a small thing.. Failing by 1km ,10km to 50km your target is a total failure.
Iran for example managed to confuse the Boeing stealth DRONE to navigate deep inside IRAN
,when the drone wanted to return. lol1  Allowing Iranians to capture it.   Smile

And IRAN was using soviet era Jammers..they got from Russia. according to one Russian defense industry
worker , in a report. And the more time the missile is jammed and more distance needs to fly to the target, the more far away of the target it will be.

i think Russia is doing something much more crazy.. like sending radio attacks on the lower atmosphere layer ,that block satellite signals all the way in space.

Russia has transferred to the Syrian Arab Republic up to 40 antiaircraft missile-gun complexes "Pantsir-S1".

There is little known about this contract: it was an export agreement, not a supply from the reserves of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti reported citing its own source in the Russian military department.

ZRPK "Pantsir-S1" is a modern Russian complex of short-range air defense. He only needs 4-6 seconds to react to the air threat.

The arsenal of the complex includes two 30-millimeter automatic cannons. Their range is up to 4 kilometers. That is, "Pantsir-S1" uses them for close combat. And 12 guided missiles can reach an air target at a distance of up to 20 kilometers and at an altitude of up to 15 kilometers.

The crew of the complex - only 3 people. But if something happens to them, then "Pantsir-C1" is fully automated and is able to work without people at all. He will independently find and destroy any air targets that incorrectly respond to the request of "your-stranger".

NOTE: not sure of the total however there is evidence of some being delivered.

Well if it's true, then who will man it? And it takes time to implement it in AD network.

I hope some of the US and French cruise missile either by intent or mistake hits Russian military bases in Syria with many dozens of casualty on Russian side ,sorry for sounding evil but that’s the only way Russia will break away from its umbilical cord from the west and turn to China and india and Asian country and would redefine its relations with west for decades

I hope DT is listening and fires dozens of tomahawk at Russian bases he is impulsive guy and we can hope he takes such impulsive rash decision Twisted Evil

Unless Putin and company does not get a tight slap from US as nikky Hayley says they would keep sucking up to the west at detriment of its own citizen

I could be wrong but I thought that they already had done so in the Western District as part of showing the US that Russia is ready and willing to hit Ukraine hard in the event of a hit in Syria.

If the West is determined to ostracise Russia then Russia has basically nothing to lose and a lot to gain by making a few strategic type moves.

    Yep...And ROmania too..

If US attack Russia ,in Syria ,then it will be a declaration of limited war defacto, and Russia will try to take advantage.. of this attack to advance strategic moves in other places..to control major places, that NATO could
use aside of Syria war.. SO NATO cannot deploy anymore near Russia borders.. and disable American Missile shield.
in Eastern Europe. Also Russia navy could be demanded by Kremlin to secure the gateways of the baltic sea  and hit any NATO airbases in Baltics. So that Russian planes can't be hit from the baltics ,when traveling to kaliningrad..  and so that NATO can't lock Russia from access to Europe.

and if things goes very bad Russia can take control of SOuthern Ukraine ,second half.. So that Russia can have air travel connection to central europe ,towards friendly nations.. all the way to germany borders. SO invasion of half of ukraine , and destroying american missiles in eastern Europe and control of baltic sea, by taking control of Islands there, to secure Russia control of the route towards kaliningrad.

If Russia do this correctly ,it can do it with very little casualties.. since in Ukraine not many will want to continue forming part of Kiev.. If US use nukes against Russia in Europe.. then Russia can retaliate to US with nukes too in US.

Naturally if US attacks Russia in Syria.. the world will be a very different place.. because the rules of engagement will be totally different for Russia.. and since US will be in a state of war..against Russia ,so and no longer Russia can allow American warships in any part of the baltics.. neither spy planes allowed to fly anywhere close baltics or any part of Russia territory. By taking control of second half of Southern Ukraine , Also Russia blocks US from entry in Ukraine ports.. and will allow to reroute Ukraine pipelines through southern Ukraine and all the way to central Europe, all the way to germany through friendly nations..  Eventually NATO will be split .. and Europe too.. and the world too.

So if US attack Russia and defacto there will be limited war.. then Russia best options is to secure Russia strategic positions in Europe ,by securing routes and destroying US missiles there. and taking control of Ukraine or at least half of it..and create a new democratic state.

If the West is determined to ostracise Russia then Russia has basically nothing to lose and a lot to gain by making a few strategic type moves.

yep.. 100% true.. Russia have nothing to lose.. if war is already on them.. even if its limited war.. Russia can expand the limited war concept to Europe.. And Secure the routes to central Europe by taking Ukraine and secure the routes
to Kalingrad by taking the gates of the baltics.. so that US no longer position on any place in central or Eastern Europe to target Russia.  One unfortunate casualty could be internet... censorship will happen ,and accusing Russia of being
the aggressor and who started it all..

a full scale nuclear war is still far off.. i dont see it happening..but a conventional war with limited use of nukes is possible..So is possible that the wars from Syria Russia can retaliate in eastern Europe in american positions and securing the routes to Germany and Central Europe. This could allow the option Russia to retake eastern Germany
again ,and reverse most of the tactical advances of NATO in Europe.

Wow.. Putin is doubling down and in a full scale..
Look how many warships are deployed of Russia in the mediterranean sea.. Shocked

So if that warship donald Duck attack Syria could be facing a major massacre
from Russia navy.. however Americans are also calling for many warships too..
so the forces should be even.. not counting israel navy.

Russia UN envoy is saying will be consequences if US attack Syria. and by the numbers
of warships deployed  it looks like they are preparing for a major fight.. So Russia will not retreat
without a good fight first .  Cool

Interesting points discussed in the video ,some of them really shameful for Putin.
Russia have a major issue with serial production of air defenses.. how could that be possible?
Syria airdefenses are not free ,they pay for it.. but Russia defense Industry.. the people
behind mass production should be fired... because they saying in times of this , to say that they don't
have more missiles defenses to provide to Syria  in times Russia is facing a world war 3
and Russian soldiers will need protection.. only because of Management incompetence in
not creating a strong line of production for them.. So according to the author , they will not
have any way to improve Syria air defenses for at least 1 year.. until they mass produce more. No

Truly Putin is a great man.. and very patriotic .. i never though he was a coward.
The only thing that annoy me is that he miss so many opportunities and he does not
take seriously the emergency Russia is.... Russia should be having major production lines..
building airdefenses 24 hours a day ,3 turns in several production lines.. as if their lives dependend of it..
they could have helped to save many Syrians... if they had enough air defenses and modernized ones.

My thinking is for now if any strike is conducted on Syria then Russian action will be defensive like SAM and AAM.

If post strike BDA puts Russian life lost in US Strike then Putin will think how to react to it.

He will take his time to react for any offensive operation from Russian side

5 destroyers, 1 cruiser, 1 aircraft carrier, at least a couple virginia class subs, plus a seawolf, prob two ohios as well. Plus whatever the groupies UK and France throw in the bunch. That's a lot of firepower that will need to be matched in 4-5 days time.

They'll need the Irarians. Which is why I say that Russia allowing Israel have a free playground against Iran is a MAJOR mistake. In the end, you'll need the Iranians on your side. The Israeli's are firm on the U.S/Syria regime change camp - never ever make the mistake to think otherwise and trust the fucking Israeli's.

The carrier and its task group not expected in eastern Med until the 22/23rd so 9-10 not 4-5 days time. But they could launch attacks from half way across Med.

The comments here are funny to read.

Russia has n economy smaller than South Korea, just to make this clear. Most of its military is rotting away.

That said, no there wont be a war.

We will bomb the shit out of Assads chemical depots and thats it.

Looks like USA will concentrate on Syrian airports and our own air force will concentrate on Syrias chemical plants.
