Reuters: Islamic State releases video it says shows two Russians captured in Syria

TASS: Moscow refutes allegations IS captured two Russian soldiers

PMC's or fake capture propaganda by ISIS? Any info coming out of Russian internet sources?

Could be wrong, but one of them is apparently a Cossack from Rostov. So most likely mercenaries?

Which begs the question, how do these PMC's operate? Are they like Hezbollah, with a bunch of guys leading the Syrians, or do they actually have formations and fight as units?

    Platoons at most probably

They either worked for Syrian state or for one of corporations that called dibs on local resources

Also we should keep in mind that a lot of these guys are also war addicts as well so that factors into their choice of employment

Agreed. And if the US PMC's in the MidEast are any indicator, the pay is probably better than regular service too, which is a 'bonus'

But my question is how could ISIS capture these guys? Also, where was the rest of their PMC group whenever they got captured?

Can't believe anyone would let themselves be captured by those devils. Far better to save your last round for yourself, if it comes to it.

One should consider the possibility that they were working for the other side, IOW Brand X, decided to go home and Brand X decided to use them one last time.

As in they fought for IS?
    Doubt it.
One of them fought in the Donbass. The other guy fought in the Yugoslav wars probably in Bosnia on the side of the Serbs against the muslims. This is according to Ru media.

    ( I wasn't aware that a Su-33 also fell into the sea thought it was only a mig-29k )

Russian Su-24 Warplane Crashes in Syria, All Crew Members Dead

The crash could have been the result of mechanical failure, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
"On October 10, when accelerating ahead of takeoff from the Hmeymim airfield in Syria, a Su-24 aircraft veered off the runway and crashed. The crew of the plane did not eject in time and died," the Russian Defense Ministry statement said.

No facilities were destroyed on the ground. A technical malfunction could have caused the crash, the ministry said.

On November 14, 2016 and December 4, 2016, a MiG-29K jet and a Su-33 fighter, respectively, rolled off the deck of Russia's Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier and were lost at sea. Both planes were part of the aircraft wing of Russia's Admiral Kuznetsov during the operation in Syria.

A defense industry source told Sputnik in March 2017 that the loss of the fighter jets was caused by a break in the carrier's arresting wire.

Earlier in 2016, a Russian Aerospace Forces Mi-28N Havoc helicopter crashed near the city of Homs in Syria, killing both pilots, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

They must be a logistics nightmare!

The crew looks very relaxed on their working holiday.

Looks like the SBU, probably with friends, has been digging into Wagner activities.

The Ukrainian special services speculate that Wagner is composed of around 5,000 members with only around 1,500 identified. 3/n

NG reports Wagner are transported to Syria via Russia air force and navy and source their heavy equipment from the Russian army. 4/n

This is the location of the GRU training center South of Krasnodar they are thought to prepare at: 44°47'33.7"N 39°13'14.8"E

Postscript: These are the documents RBC dug up tying Wagner to the training facility south of Krasnodar. http://zakupki.gov.ru/epz/order/notice/printForm/view.html?printFormId=11787229

It's ridiculous Russia still flies decades old Su-24. Should have been flying Su-34 and all Su-24 donated to SAA.

Su-24's flight costs is much much lower than Su-34's.

After two years of intensive war campaign 1 Su-24M crash in Syria. This is still excellent result as planes crashes new or old even in peace time use. By your logic saudi Arabia should donate all their Eurofighters, because one crashed in Yemen. And F-15E as well.
