BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:45 A.M.) – Two top commanders from the US-backed, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have defected to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). The defectors are from the SDF’s Jund al-Haramayn Brigade – an Arab formation within the Kurdish-led alliance – and include the top commander of the formation, Ibrahim al-Banawi, and fellow officer Fayad al-Ghanem.

The Jund al-Haramayn Brigade is, according to reports, located in the area of Manbij, suggesting that the SDF commanders defected to the Syrian Army via co-joining lines in north Aleppo or possibly southern Raqqa.

Both defected officers have since met with top commander of the SAA’s elite Tiger Forces Division Suheil al-Hassan (shown in the photos below).

This will be one hell of a journey!!! All the way across Syria.

With their rear pretty much secured, maybe we will now see some proper SAA moving east movements. Going to be interesting watching them, from the safety of the Internet, to see where the dummy strike(s) go and which turns out to be the direction they get to Deir from. They have quite a few options and the strategists both locally and in Moscow will be wanting it to lay down a marker.

A senior Israeli official warned the Russian government that if Iran continues to extend its reach in Syria, Israel will bomb Syrian President Bashar Assad's palace in Damascus, according to reports in Arab media. Israel also warned that if serious changes do not happen in the region, Israel will make sure the ceasefire deal, reached by the United States and Russia in Astana, Kazakhstan, will be nullified.

A senior Israeli source told the Al-Jadida newspaper that no understanding was reached between the Israelis and the Russians. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did, however, make it clear to Putin that its concerns must be met or Israel will be forced to act.

The warnings occurred in a meeting between Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin last week. The prime minister, accompanied by Mossad head Yossi Cohen, the newly appointed head of the National Security Council, Meir Ben-Shabbat, and Likud minister Ze'ev Elkin who served as his translator, flew to Sochi on the Black Sea for the meeting, returning to Israel shortly after it ended. This is Netanyahu’s fourth trip to Russia in the last 16 months, and his sixth meeting with Putin during this same time frame.

Netanyahu said the majority of his discussions with Putin focused on the situation in Syria. He said the reason he wanted to hold talks now with the Russian leader was because the situation inside Syria has changed very rapidly over the last few weeks.

I don't think that Russia gives a shit whether Assad's palace get bombed or not (local real estate is not really something they fret over)

And if Assad happens to be in the palace Russia already has dozens of guys vetted and ready to take over on moments notice.

It still won't do jack shit about whatever Iranians are doing that makes Israeli cooch itch.

The Russian Defense Ministry yesterday announced that the Syrian Army, while supported by the Russian Air Force, eliminated the  largest gathering of ISIS terrorists near the village of Ghanim Ali in the eastern countryside of Raqqah province.

In its Sunday statement, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Syrian forces managed to annihilate more than 800 terrorists, in addition to destruction of 13 tanks, 39 heavy machine-gun-equipped vehicles and 9 mortars.

The statement added that particular operation resulted in destruction of the largest gathering of ISIS terrorists in the region, especially in terms of arms and equipment, noting that that the Tiger Forces, a special forces unit led by Brigadier Suhail Hassan Al Nimr, continue at high altitudes along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, in order to lift the ISIS siege of Deir Ez Zour province.

Backed by the Air Force, units of the Syrian Army destroyed an ISIS manufacturing facility in the eastern city of Deir Ez Zour. According to the military sources in the besieged city, an ISIS manufacturing facility, used to produce IEDs, booby traps and explosives, was destroyed earlier in the day. A so-called “Emir” of the booby-traps missiles”, named Abu Abdullah Al Tunisi was killed alongside 12 other terrorists who were in the facility at the time of the raid.

Meanwhile, local sources said tensions, confusion and distrust are growing among the ranks of ISIS.
