    Some good news
DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — A group of 153 Syrian militants have laid down their arms, deciding to use the program of national reconciliation to gain amnesty and return to civilian life, an informed source in the Homs province told Sputnik Sunday.

If this is correct it looks like they have decided to go east straight for Deir on a wide front and not go south to close the pocket.

Whatever their actual strategy is this could well be keeping all the others guessing.

    EDIT

Bit more on this, it looks like they think they have enough strength to go more than one way.

    Some Syria some Iraq

Here are some of the toughest battles still to be fought against ISIS

The battle of Mosul is over, but the war against the Islamic State is far from done. The militants have lost some 60 percent of the territory they controlled at the peak of their expansion, but that leaves a sizable area, mostly in Syria but also Iraq, to be recaptured. Much of it is uninhabited desert, but significant towns and cities in both countries, and almost a whole province in Syria, remain in the militants’ hands. Among them are staunch Islamic State strongholds, located in some of the most remote terrain of the war. In some instances, it isn’t yet clear which forces will undertake the battles, and potential local and international flash points lie ahead as competing powers vie for the chance to control territory.

Here are six of the toughest battles still to be fought.

I suppose this was inevitable, Sputnik so who knows?

CAIRO (Sputnik) – Abu Bakr Baghdadi, the leader of the Daesh terror group (outlawed in Russia), is likely to be alive and is currently hiding on the outskirts of the Syrian city of Raqqa, Abu Ali Basri, the head of the intelligence and counterterrorism department of the Iraqi Interior Ministry, said Sunday.

“He is hiding in Syria, to be precise outside Raqqa,” Basri said, as quoted by the Al Arabiya broadcaster.

Basri pointed out that the Iraqi security services are interested in persecution of Baghdadi and his followers more than anyone else.

These leaders mean basically f*ck all. Way too much attention is devoted to their alleged terminations. Daesh is an amorphous
terror grouping and not some modern state where a leader represents a power faction. The Daesh leaders are a dime a dozen and
will sprout one after another as the previous one gets offed.

The important thing is that we are seeing Daesh collapse in Syria.

Thank Russia for saving Syria's government and forces from oblivion.

LoL in your head the SAA must have more men than they do and I guess the fact all their past attempts to break ISIS lines via Hama have failed but hey yeah "intoxication" alright.

Run along armchair general, because you once again have shown you know shit.

I mean gee...I wonder why the SAA forces are advancing along the Raf road....if I am "intoxicated". Hm....guess the SAA army is intoxicated also then~

Cause they are advancing EXACTLY how I said.

    what a clown~

and what facts....do you know how to read a map....After they took Resafa they have been advancing down along that road ever since and all their gains are in those positions.

Oh let me be clear here because you cannot understand English!.

You see there is a road that attaches Resafa to sukan, the SAA are advancing down along this road to prevent ISis from getting supplies in Eastern Hama and if you called that "intoxication" you have something wrong with you mentally.
