Dvorkovich: RZD's investment may increase by 1.5 times

    http://www.itar-tass.com/c16/809961.html

The investment program of Russian Railways in the medium term could rise by 1.5 times. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich at a meeting on the development of the steel industry. "In general, RZD's investment may increase by about 1.5 times over the medium term", - he said.

In June, the newspaper "Vedomosti" reported on the government to reduce the sentence of Railways investment program up to 2018, from 5.7 trillion to 2.7 trillion rubles. These funds will be sufficient to fund key projects monopoly - the construction of port infrastructure, and the development of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian Railway. The sources of finance, the Government proposed the use of the National Welfare Fund, Pension Fund, the budget, as well as equity and debt Railways.

Through the issuance of infrastructure bonds to finance the planned upgrade of locomotive fleet, the construction of railway lines to the Elga coal deposit, branches Mezhdurechensk - Taishet and construction of bypass Krasnodar.

At BAM and Trans-Siberian Railway planned to send 260 billion from the budget. The remaining costs will fund a monopoly at the expense of equity and debt.

In the investment program does not include the costs of high-speed railway. Only highway Moscow - Kazan will cost 928 billion rubles. This was announced at the end of May, the head of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin. 650 billion rubles of this amount is expected to be allocated from the budget.

Railways introduced the investment program for 2012-2020 in June last year. How, then, said the vice-president of the monopoly Vadim Mikhailov, the company is willing to finance only 3.8 trillion rubles of this amount. The government opposed the allocation of budgetary resources, pointing out that the company has a 100-percent state participation itself is capable to attract borrowed funds.

November 12, 2012 the Russian government approved the overall Railways investment program for the period up to 2015 in the amount of more than 1 trillion rubles . Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at the time that the investment budget of Railways in 2013 - more than 400 billion rubles, and for three years - more than $ 1 trillion. "This money will be spent on the development of the railway infrastructure, security services, the improvement of transport accessibility for citizens and rolling stock. Course, the money is not enough to solve the problems facing the industry. We expect that the program as a whole will be more ambitious take into account the needs of the economy in a dynamic and innovative development of railway transport, "- he stressed.

This is Great News to Start with russia

Russian Railways GTh1-002 main gas turbine locomotive enters service

Russian Railways has delivered a GT1h-002 main gas turbine locomotive for operation on the Sverdlovsk railways route.

The GT1h-002 main gas turbine locomotive, which runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG), will begin regular operation on the Egorshino–Alapayevsk–Serov-Sortirovochny route. Trials will now be carried out on a non-electrified test route north of the Sverdlovsk mainline, where there are plans to start operating such vehicles.

GTh1-002 Main Gas Turbine Locomotive drove train weighing 9,000 tons

The locomotive has been designed to drive trains with increased weight and length. In May 2016, during a test run, the GTh1-002 drove a train weighing 9,000 tons on the 700km Surgut–Voinovka route without the need to refuel en route.

Sverdlovsk Railway’s has the necessary infrastructure to operate the GT1h-002 including, extensive non-electrified sections of different profiles suitable for gas turbine locomotives. Furthermore, a LNG complex was built near Yekaterinburg with a special station for fuelling rolling stock.

The introduction forms part of the Energy Strategy for JSC Russian Railways and is an alternative to expensive diesel fuel. The move will also help to reduce harmful emissions by rail freight transportation.

Russian Traxx unveiled at Engels locomotive plant inauguration

    http://www.railwaygazette.com/news/traction-rolling-stock/single-view/view/russian-traxx-unveiled-at-engels-locomotive-plant-inauguration.html

RUSSIA: The prototype 1 520 mm gauge Bombardier Traxx F120MS locomotive was unveiled at a ceremony marking the inauguration of First Locomotive Co’s factory at Engels in Saratov oblast on August 19.

The First Locomotive Co joint venture of Russian investors and Bombardier Transportation was established in 2012 with the aim of bringing modern development and manufacturing technologies to Russia. The factory in Engels has been built in two years at cost of 6·7bn roubles, funded by Vnesheconombank, the state Bank for Development & Foreign Economic Affairs, and will have the capacity to produce up to 150 twin-section electric freight locomotives a year for Russia and the 1520 region.

Designated the Type 2EV120 in Russia, the 120 km/h dual-system Traxx F120MS is designed to haul trains of 7 000 to 9 000 tonnes in temperatures between -55°C and +45°C.

It has a maximum rating of 9·6 MW and continuous rating of 8·8 MW, and can operate under 25 kV 50 Hz or 3 kV DC electrification. A 500 kW last-mile diesel engine could also be fitted, installed in an isolated compartment in each locomotive section.

The locomotive is equipped with Bombardier’s Mitrac control system, Flexx Power 140 RU bogies for axleloads up to 25 tonnes, asynchronous traction motors and Knorr-Bremse braking systems.

The air-conditioned cab meets the latest Russian comfort standards, with two fixed and one folding seats, a fridge and a microwave. The side windows can be used as an emergency fire escape using a rope ladder.

Speaking at the factory inauguration ceremony, Chairman of First Locomotive Co Stanislav Gamzalov said an initial order for the locomotives has been agreed, subject to the prototype successfully obtaining certification for operation. There has been interest from potential customers in the CIS and Baltic states, he added.

Vnesheconombank Chairman Vladimir Dmitriev said it would be an attractive product for export markets, and noted that Azerbaijan Railways representatives attended the inauguration ceremony.

Governor of Saratov oblast Valery Radaev said the Russian economy currently faces difficult conditions, and the new factory would support growth through innovation and the conservation of resources. His advisor on economics affairs, Konstantin Murenin, said the opening of the new plant was ‘an event of national scale’, which would support the development of a regional transport engineering cluster and associated supply chain and serve as a ‘shining example’ of how to undertake large scale investment projects.

    Investment trillions by Russian Railways

    FreightEurasia Putin, Russian Railways

MOSCOW: Speaking at the III Railway Congress at the beginning of this month, OJSC Russian Railways president Oleg Belozerov said the company is going to spend RUB7.7 trillion by 2025 on modernizing the country’s rail network.

Projects will include the construction of the Northern Latitudinal Railway, in Russia’s Arctic region, and a link to the island of Sakhalin as part of the ongoing rail upgrades in Russia’s Far East region.

“The most important thing is that in the coming years, the railway will come to those regions where it has never previously existed,” explained Belozerov (pictured).

He also noted that a key element in the development program should be the Eurasia high-speed freight and passenger main line: “Freight transportation is a very important priority for us. We estimate that loading volumes will increase by 300 million tons by 2025.”

Following a visit to a repair and equipment depot at the Moscow-Kievskaya railway station, Russian president Vladimir Putin reminded Congress delegates that Russian Railways is competing for the world’s flows of freight traffic, is the largest corporate employer in the country, and one of the main customers for its engineering sector.

“The dynamics of the development of the whole country, the quality of the national economy and its global competitiveness depend greatly on the work of Russia’s railways,” he said.

“It is important that Russian Railways systematically increases its efficiency and labor productivity. During the last 5 years, it has increased productivity by one third, this year it will rise by 9.0 percent, and according to the plan for 2018, it will rise by another 5.0 percent next year,” he added.

Russian Railways announces 2017 consolidated results under IFRS

Revenues of the Group increased in 2017 by 5.6% to RUB 2,252 billion as compared to RUB 2,133 billion in 2016. Cargo and infrastructure access revenues increased in the current period by 9.5% and amounted to RUB 1,449 billion, showing the highest growth among all types of revenues due to the 6% increase in cargo turnover and to tariffs’ indexation.

Logistics revenue, provided by GEFCO, denominated in euro, increased by 5.1% to EUR 4.442 billion.

In 2017 EBITDA amounted to Rbls 496 billion and increased by 11.8% as compared to the year 2016 (Rbls 443 billion). EBITDA margin in the accounting period amounted to 24.7% as compared to 23.6% in the previous year due to revenues’ growth and optimization program.

The Group’s net income in the accounting period amounted to RUB 139.7 billion as compared to RUB 10.3 billion in the previous year. The growth is caused by improved operating results and reduced losses on impairment of plant and equipment and intangible assets. The substantial decrease in losses on impairment is due to stabilization of long-term forecasts of the Group’s operations, including the decision of the Russian Government to enact a long-term tariff policy for JSC RZD up to the year 2025.
