Special Ops Command opens new headquarters
by Airman 1st Class David Dobrydney
379th Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs

7/31/2009 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Special Operations Command Central officials opened a new home with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new building July 29 here.

The headquarters will allow SOCCENT members to better accomplish its mission of exercising operational control of more than 7,000 special operations servicemembers in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

"We're privileged to be at the center of our nation's efforts," said Army Maj. Gen. Charles Cleveland, the SOCCENT commander who officiated at the grand opening. "With the help of our partners, we look forward to continuing to work toward a future that offers greater peace and stability in this region and throughout the world."

A part of the Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command, SOCCENT includes and supports members from all services, as well as civilians and coalition partners.

"It's all four services, plus our support people like those who work on parachute rigging, medical folks, transportation and logistics," said Army Lt. Col. Holly Silkman, a SOCCENT public affairs officer deployed from MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. "We've got lots of partners in the area helping us out," said the Albuquerque, N.M., native, citing Iraqi special forces and Afghan commandos as examples.

From SOCCENT's rear headquarters located at MacDill AFB, more than 700 members from the United States can deploy here for up to a year, or rotate through the AOR for temporary duties of one to three months. On any given night, SOCCENT headquarters is monitoring at least a dozen special forces operations in the AOR. A joint operations center can reach out and communicate with forces where ever they may be.

"It's safe to say our area of interest is indeed the most vital area of importance, not only for the U.S. but for the world," General Cleveland said to the gathered troops and distinguished visitors. "Our operations are increasingly becoming the stuff of history."

The main headquarters had previously been located in a temporary facility on another base in Southwest Asia.

"All of the U.S. forces wanted to be co-located and for the headquarters to be a world-class facility," Colonel Silkman said. That desire led to the creation of this state-of-the-art compound.

"We've planted the flag right here in the area of operations, which means it's easier to react," she said. "We're in the same time zone as the people we're supporting."

General Cleveland sees no comparison between the old and new headquarters.

"There was a huge need for a new facility," he said. "So it's great to get into a permanent building."

Four years in the making, the new facility has a number of features that will make it an effective headquarters. These include an indoor rifle range and SOCCENT's only parachute-rigging tower in the area. Yet the new headquarters compound is just a small footprint of a larger modernization project in the works around the base.

"This is just the beginning," General Cleveland said.

Additions in the future will include hangars currently under construction, bigger maintenance bays and a new training facility.

General Cleveland said he hoped members of SOCCENT would look upon their new facility as a "home away from home."

"I know it can't replace your family and all that waits for you back home," he said. "I understand the hardships of serving the nation overseas in a time of war, and I want to publicly thank you and your families for the sacrifices you've made in the name of freedom."

US Aerospace Command Communications to Move Back to Cold War-Era Bunker

NORAD is the military command that is in charge of scanning North American airspace for enemy missiles or aircrafts. During the Cold War, the aerospace command’s headquarters were located in a half-acre bunker carved into Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado, and designed to withstand a Soviet nuclear attack. The headquarters were moved in 2006 to the Peterson Air Force base in Colorado Springs, and the Cheyenne Mountain base was designated as a back-up site.

After years of being on "warm standby," it seems the Cold War-era bunker is now getting a substantial upgrade. NORAD plans to shift its communication gear back to the site.

The shift back to the Cheyenne Mountain base, according to officials, will serve to safeguard NORAD’s sensitive communication gear from a potential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack. EMPs can occur naturally, or can result from man-made devices such as nuclear weapons. According to Pentagon officials, the US military’s increased dependence on computer networks and digital communications makes it more vulnerable to EMPs.

Khilbiny EW tripping yankees hard Laughing

Speaking to AFP, head of NORAD and Northern Command Admiral William Gortney said that "because of the very nature of the way that Cheyenne Mountain is built, it is EMP hardened."

Indeed, since the bunker was set up during the Cold War, it was built large enough to protect both people and infrastructure and deep enough to withstand a nuclear attack.

Sequestration, US Budget Control Act 'Have Negative Impact' on US SOCOM

US Assistant Secretary of Defense Michael Lumpkin says that defense spending caps, or sequestration, and the US Budget Control of 2011 forecast negative implications for the United States Special Operations Command because of projected reduced resources.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Defense spending caps, or sequestration, and the US Budget Control of 2011 forecast negative implications for the United States Special Operations Command because of projected reduced resources, US Assistant Secretary of Defense Michael Lumpkin told the US Senate Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities.

“Sequestration and the Budget Control Act will have a negative impact for the US Special Operations Command,” Lumpkin said on Tuesday. “When we have challenges, we frequently cut research and development and education. We must not cut those because of sequestration.”

The Budget Control Act The was signed into law by US President Barack Obama on August 2, 2011, and involves the creation of the Congressional Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, and options for a balanced budget amendment and automatic budget sequestration.

Lumpkin explained that the US Special Operations Command works like a household, and makes decisions based on resources that are available. He said that the biggest impact the sequestration and Budget Control Act will have is on the ability to keep up with the modernization of the special operations arsenal such as aircraft.

“Those aircraft will come to us at a slower rate as a result of sequestration,” Lumpkin said. “It will slow modernization for special operations aircraft.”

Lumpkin is the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflicts.

But don't you get it... the best cover is to create a tv show exactly about it that follows its missions, so if anyone releases information about it they will be ridiculed for talking about the tv show.

The war against ISIL wouldn't last a single month if those terrorists we know as Saudi Royal Families, Israeli Regime, US Empire, British Pseudo Empire and their little Gulf state dictatorships would stop funding and controlling and directing them into specific unwanted countries.

Beheadings, bombings, killing gays, forcing women to cover themselves or lashing people for drinking some beer - all these things were not invented in the White House. They come from Sharia law.

Ukrainian government in Kyiv is supported by the Us and it does not implement any part of sharia.

I should repeat what I said before - change in the Muslim world away from Islamc madness CANNOT be implemented from above. It must come from within those socieites - and it must come in the form of either pressuring Arab governments to change their stance. That's what happened in Turkey - Turkey did not become secular because some Jew in America decided that it should, but because Turks themselves decided that abolishing the Caliphate and instituting a western-style secular republic is the only way to succeed in this world.

So - what would happen if the US deposed Saudi royal family and replaced them with secular rulers?
First - Saudi state and Saudi society have absolutely no tradition of secularism - since the the conquest of Arabia by Muhammad in 632 AD, Saudi Arabia has been secular for exactly 0 days. So such a drastic change would not by welcomed - and would actually infuriate a lot of powerful people in KSA itself.

If US Army invaded Saudi Arabia with ground troops, what would happen? The image of America in the entire Muslim world would be ruined for decades or even centuries to come. Mullahs from every mosque would be calling for Jihad and foaming from their mouths about how the filthy infidels invaded the land of two mosques. US would have to deal with an influx of thousands of jihadists from every corner of the world and Iran (now with it's largest enemy out of the game) would want to take it's piece of cake too and would redirect Shia militias from Iraq to fight US troops in Shia majority regions of Saudi Arabia.

It's easy to say "oh the country X is supporting the bloody regime of the country Y, how dare they!" - but it's not so easy to see that sometimes there is no choice.

If there is no other choice then a genocide of Americans and jews is inivitable by your own standards, if radicals can't stop their radical behavior then it is better to vaporize them for good and for the benefit of all. @Walther von Oldenburg:

The White House didn't invent Sharia Law, but it is the one who feed a lot of extremist scumbags of whatever religions to create chaos all over the world.

For several reasons, White House and Pentagon failed to use peaceful and non-bloodshed methods to prove the Western cultural superiority if any over Eastern races. That's why they created artificial enemies by feeding existing extremist terrorist organizations and used them as scapegoat.

There is 1001 ways to prove that Sharia law has a lot of bullshit but somehow the White House failed to do that by peaceful means.

Don't know it is because of the capability of White House agents, or because they are feed by military industry companies like Colt, Boeing or Lockheed ?

The rise of Islamism started already in the 1960s - I think execution of Sayyid Qutb and the Six Day war marked a turning point after which nothing was the same in the Muslim world. Islamist movements are not limited to a few dozen thousands of militant Islamists - these are mass movements spanning millions of sympathizers in every country and capable of winning elections - militant jihadists are the tip of the iceberg.

Muslims in general have very low self esteem. They see how backward their civilization is in comparison to the rest of the world and feel envious. They simply mistake the cause for th solution.

You are truelly retarded. A truelly indoctrinated islamophobe of the western islamophobic industrialized and commercialized fearmongering. There are just a few thousands and those are that directly have recieved or are recieving money from Western enslaved or protected dictatorships like Saudi Shit of Arabia. Sympathy is not to islam but to destroy western empires who constantly Mass murder muslims with terrorist tactics like drones, wars, devestation and then have the guts to call themselfs Liberators. Absolute majority would wish a hundred thousands Saddams back just to keep the shit USA and Israel out of Middle East.

Drone strikes in Pakistan only killed 4000 people since 2004 - and that figure includes both civilians and militants - this can hardly be considered a mass murder in a country of 180 mln people where more people die each day of natural causes.

Dude, we are not killing anyone. Muslims are the ones who are constantly killing each other. They are the ones who can't live at peace with anyone not even with themselves. most countries are not at war with the western world.. We are not at war with China, India, South America and we are not at war with each other.

Listen to Sisi's speech at Al Azhar - he is one of the first people in the Muslim world to openly recognize that something is wrong - instead of the usual blaming of Jews and Americans or everything.
