The S-400 battery is no policing a no fly zone and cannot simply shoot down any unidentified aircraft in it field of view.

It will have rules of engagement and wont really know what the aircraft it detects are actually doing... when it detects aircraft flying over Allepo it can't tell if they are attacking ground targets or if they are looking for targets.

If the Fighter escorts of a Su-24 try to scare off a Pakistani F-16 that wont leave it alone and that F-16 is stupid enough to open fire then that S-400 battery might get authorisation to shoot that F-16 down, but it wont get authorisation without provocation.

Iraqi assessment of the Gulf war

Post  Walther von Oldenburg on Fri Oct 21, 2016 12:46 pm

Years ago I came across an Iraqi report detailing their own performance durign the Gulf war. It included the estimation of their own AFV losse as well enemy's. It claimed that Iraqi forces managed to shot down some 150 cruise missiles but I don't remember anything else.

    Can anyone find it?

But we only had seen the "common version" of both (63968  and 63059), what i really want to know is about these specific versions, with more armor and some changes.
And by the way typhoon-K 63969 never apeared in any parade, we only have some pictures of tests.

    Unfinished Ukraina

Post  Tsavo Lion on Fri Mar 31, 2017 9:01 pm

It's now being offered at scrap metal price. http://nvo.ng.ru/nvoevents/2017-03-31/2_942_news.html?print=Y Some years back Russia offered to cancel Ukraine's gas debt & take her for free, but Kiev declined. I wonder if it's still be feasible to some 3rd world nation to complete the remaining 25% of construction & use her as a naval vessel?
