Working prototype of the AK ALFA.

Wow... they actually managed to make a gay AK...

The only missing modification would be to make it electric pink and give it some tassels.

BTW Off Topic 15,000 posts.... do I get a cookie? Twisted Evil

    Not on AK-12 but AK(AD)-400.

Also notice NPZ PSU-1/4 with Commercial rubber coating. It's sold as Wolf Performance PSU1x4 outside Russia.

    New LMG based on AK-12

Has the old AK safety catch, but I see an addition above the trigger are to allow the trigger thumb to raise and lower the safety catch... interesting.

The ability to use two different barrels is interesting... long and short...

They had a LMG with a changeable barrel in the RP-46 and it was replaced by the fixed barrel RPD and then the fixed barrel RPK...

I suspect the ability to fit a short barrel or long barrel will make the weapon more flexible, and a shorter barrel with a suppressor would be interesting.

I wonder if they will make it multi calibre too?

Bolt, magazine, and barrel change kits to change between calibres would be interesting for export purposes, and also for armies that use different calibres.

India for example could keep 5.56mm and 7.62 x 39mm calibre models and even Russia could go for a 5.45 x 39mm and 9 x 39mm pairing depending upon the situation.

So Kalashnikov based guns are now a thing of the past...fuck.

Concern Kalashnikov has resurrected the Dragunov MA project with pretty much every length of barrel.

    Rifle, Carbine, PDW, DMR.

A sad day for out Saint Patron...

Also SVK has 2 different calibres from the pictures...Unified and 7.62?

I cant tell, is the receiver + handguard/shroud a single piece?

It also looks like a 12 gauge muzzle brake and magazine.

Hated what? The rifle you see is not a Kalashnikov, but a Dragunov...

Had to look close to even tell that the new AK-74M and the AK-15 were two different rifles (before I looked at the gas block portions). Interesting. So, which one is relevant to Ratnik and the rifle replacement? The AK-12 or the AK-15?

Keep in mind that ratnik is a soldier system used by many branches of the military so it will suit weapons from pistols to machine guns and everything in between.

Sorry, you'll have to excuse my American way of thinking. The last time we did a soldier systems program that included multiple weapons was OICW, if I'm not mistaken. I'm forgetting to look at Ratnik that way, instead of as a rifle competition.

Does anybody know what kind of Picatinny-mounted rear iron sight is on the AK-12 / AK-400? The one that was used in the recent event.

    RPK-style detachable IRS.

It's supposed to be spring loaded, but I really doubt it, it just looks tightened up.

There's a PBS-1 sight that was developed for export.
