Vijayanta's were actually less feared by Pakistani troopers. Even the Mk-2's were really no match for RLR's. So people with T-55 trying to pass for a Vickers would be ill advised. Nevermind the tank's are difficult to miss (and Pakistan having type-59's and some T-54's by 1970).

Camouflage is not always about hiding... a certain Fokker triplane from WWI was painted bright red as a sort of challenge to the enemy. You could even consider it to be a warning to less experienced pilots not to get involved...

A tank pretending to be a weaker type might be intended to get into fights the enemy might have run away from if they had correctly identified your tank.

The purpose is to kill the enemy... even the weaker enemy units.
