After those morons in Aleppo are done celebrating they might drag their overvalued asses to Palmyra to fix what their testiculary challenged buddies f*cked up.

I know that that place has mostly PR value (for now) but they should get it done before clearly superior ISIS troops manage to dig in again.

Personally I don't care how long they take as long as no Russians die and all those SDF idiots responsible for this are put into the ground.

thats a sh*t loads of small arms and ammo, that should be bombed. If T4 is taken then Quraytayn will most likely fall, Hopefully this will all be undone soon, but this is something that the SAA etc don't need right now, this is the west trying to activate more fronts for the SAA in order to halt further progress in Aleppo, Northern Hama, Idilb, Latakia, and Damascus. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see other quiet fronts being activated, namely areas in the south of the country and Homs enclave.

This is exactly what is happening right now, the west is trying to open up as many fronts as they can. And if people think that Palmyra was taken by some rag tag assholes, they are wrong, the terrorists had the help of the west(particularly the US and UK, top supporters of terrorism).

"SYRIAN PRESIDENT SAYS ISIS TERRORISTS SEIZED PALMYRA WITH US SUPPORT."

    https://southfront.org/syrian-president-says-isis-terrorists-seized-palmyra-with-us-support/

What I don't get is, when Palmyra was taken, where were the TU 22M's, they should have been in the air, over Palmyra and the surrounding areas and bombing the shit out of the terrorists. Russia really needs to start using Hamadan Airbase in Iran(make some upgrades if you need to).

They have the right to do so. Because Aleppo's strategic value is much much bigger. And Aleppo has people, while at the moment Palmira is a ghost town as the people was evacuated.

This is not the first time SAA seemed to suffer a set-back. In Aleppo the terrorists managed to open a small corridor and we used to worry a lot, but at the end of the they who still won ?

I told you, sooner or later I expected a firestorm at Palmyra.

Kind of agree with this, it is a setback but it was to be expected, the west told Russia, that they made a huge mistake by taking Aleppo, so this was to be expected.

"Assad on Aleppo to RT: ‘West is telling Russia we went too far in defeating terrorists’ (EXCLUSIVE)."

    https://www.rt.com/news/370213-assad-interview-palmyra-aleppo/

PapaDragon, it is wrong to call them morons because they are on the front lines, defending their country, when a lot have run away. But I know where you are coming, the SAA sometimes drives me crazy, how the hell, they let Palmyra fall, is just dumb.

From this article it appears that the Russians were the last ones left fighting in Palmyra, got surrounded and only escaped because the RuAF was able to clear a path for them through ISIS.
    - They of course want the SAA commanders fired.
    - Article also claims that there was some intel on an attack coming.

    250 holding off around 5k?.

Eh.....I dunno there, I'd have a hard time buying this one without some proof.

Not saying the Russians are weak but 20x their number?.

Seig of course they didn't hold off against a horde of 5K they held off against maybe a battalion attack who knows. RuAF launched like 64 sorties that day it's not unbelievable if they were holding off against more than a battalion at the intensity of the air strikes.

Reports said they poured into the city from all sides. Those airsrikes were prior to them entering the city and it was over 5k really. I just rounded it out.

good on them tho, nice them made it out alive.

Russians heroically fighting for Syrian cities where Syrian soldiers are fleeing.

Holy hell. I feel bad for the Russians. But not is all lost it seems.

Might I add that there needs to be some major training centers created in the Assad controlled regions, possibly using instructors from Tiger Units, Falcon, Hezbollah and such in order to get various Syrian troops to a far better position in its capabilities?

Russians fast balled, they weren't fighting, they had no strength to fight. They pretty much did what they had to, delay, open and exit the noose. Which they helped the remaining Tigers do as well.

IS has published two more videos about Tadmur, one is a filthy bodycount, and it's not really extensive. As usual all positions are under strength.

Also among the 60 or so AK74's only 5/6 are marked with dope numbers and issue "bilet". (dope numbers are holdover numbers for the sighting system, useful when the rifle is passed along and isn't always zeroed properly and is a small piece of paper over the handguard, "issue bilet" is the name or place the rifle is issued to).

So basically only 10% of the rifles left behind were to men, the rest was storage.

I don't buy one recent story that 3500 men were at palmyra and fled. From the AFV's in the scene and knowing Tigers/desert hawks got away with about a platoon worth of tanks, highly improbable that such a force wouldn't properly reinforce the lines.

Also if the number of 3500 was true, and ISIS would really had gone full retard at Palmyra with equivalent strength, they would have already overrun T4, unfortunately they failed just like the other times. While I don't doubt that ISIS had at least 1000 involved in the whole operation (Qaratayn, Shaer, Huwaisis, Tadmur) it's simply not feasible for them to engage that many troops, with their logistics.

    IS raids then moves up.

Also that Gazeta.RU is some bullshit.

Even the weapon count found at base shows they weren't 300+. And no Russian is going to fight with an AKS74U in that situation. The fact they blew the ammo and requested CAS to exit clearly indicate that they couldn't hold on longer.

Fact is that if anything the guys did everything by the book. And seeing the equipment still in base (UR-83, Vystrel) the group was VERY thin.
