Yes because according to the article now it will include Dagdiesel and a bunch of other enterprises. Tactical Missiles Corporation is looking to become another UAC, United Shipbuilding Corporation, etc... type conglomerate.

The best enterprise in all of Russia.

I think the biggest black hole in Russian budget ,that is not really needed is Russia soviet surface fleet Navy their big destroyers..most of them are close to obsolete.. other than Kirov class.. you have hundreds if not thousands of sailors on a soviet warship that is not really game changing in Russia nation security..  One Su-34 with just 2 pilots and 1 missile can sink any destroyer..and the cost/performance ratio is thousand of times better ,with combat jets ,instead of old soviet destroyers.. cost a lot less to maintain 1 combat jet ,that one soviet destroyer with thousand sailors. they should get a smaller but modern surface warship..with highly automated warships to reduce the cost of sailors..their newest corvettes and frigates will also be good alternative to their soviet warships. .. and decommission all their soviet destroyers except their Kirov class or even scrap that one too.. two frigates could do a similar job. and save money.
Also decomission many support vessels ,Russia will not fight ever beyond their territorial lines or Borders. that will save them a hell of a TON of money in thousands sailors payroll  ,maintainance of warships etc..those thousands of sailors have to be paid a lot for active duty ,provided with housing ,medical plan and a lot more things. their submarines and corvettes and frigates and long range airforce can do fine defending their most important trade routes which are all near.. Russia main land and kaliningrad.

In the end Russia should reduce significantly their surface navy ,and get a smaller but modern force. of patrol boats ,corvettes and frigates.. Once the economic crisis is over.. they can focus in projection of power outside Russia borders.. and build modern destroyers. For now
the Russia territory coast ,can be used an an unsinkable aircraft carrier to defend their land .

is not like anyone will attack Russian navy anytime soon... the major threat of Russia will be
Proxy Americans funded jihadist "freedom fighters" in Caucasus ,far east or Right sector banderas in Ukraine conflict.

It will be nice if Russia focus in space militarization and not far beyond their land navy..
and to signficantly boost their land forces with Armata tanks and modern airforce..
Exosphere high altitude stealth bombers for example could truly take Russia offensive capabilities to a new level.. ie.. NATO will have nothing to chase and follow them what people call (intercept). in peace time.. So will rule free in the near space earth orbit.. and without knowing if they armed with nuclear weapons. That will give a HUGE advantage to Russia in first strike deterrence.

In war time.. who ever control space ,wins.. you cannot fight without satellites and coordinate logistics and communications with submarines without satellites help. Space militarization can also be used for Russia civilian space industry and boost their exploration of the moon and mars ,and construction of bases there.

What is wrong with these "western"/anti-Russian articles on Russian military modernization? I just read a VERY similar articles in Finnish. I mean even the recent ones. It's like they were written in 2008 or 2010, before the current program even started. Sure, PAK FA, Armata, etc. are not fully ready yet, but the modernization is going according to plan, more or less. Don't they know anything about the deliveries in 2013 and 2014? "No innovation, no teh technology, workers are old, Russia is unable to produce military equipment, so much vodka, hur dur dur..." What year is this, seriously? 1999?

That is exactly what those MSM want you to sell, that russia is still in the 90's with Yeltzin , well actually with Hitler in power that makes russia to a shithole. You only need to listen to TR1 and you will get a summarize of what western propaganda wants you to believe.

Alfa Bank has a murky history from the 1990s. This smells like a 5th column maneuver given the timing. The debt is about
$100 million. If Alfa Bank does not ease off, it will be skewered. These bastions of Yeltsin era rot need to be purged.

Nothing murky. Alfa Bank was a front for the Russian mob, they are only trying to milk UVZ from state subsidies. Either you shell out or we bankrupt the supertoy and buy it out for ourselves.

This is the problem with the whole subsidiary companies in Russia, it can bite you on your a**. BTW it isn't UVZ that is bankrupt, but the subsidiary, which in return prompts Alfa to ask for solvency towards UVZ. It's just a move to milk the big guys. Normal thievery among gentlemen.

Russia's Largest Defense Manufacturer Disputes Sanctions Imposed by EU

According to Russia’s largest defense manufacturer Almaz-Antey press service, company has disputed sanctions imposed in July and September 2014 against the company by the European Union.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia’s largest defense manufacturer Almaz-Antey has disputed sanctions imposed in July and September 2014 against the company by the European Union, the company’s press service said Friday.

“In order to dispute the sanctions…the [Air Defense] Concern has addressed the General Secretariat of the European Union Council [in Brussels, Belgium] with a demand of reassessing the factual circumstances, as well as providing evidence or any other information of why the EU Council made the decision to include the Concern in ‘sanctioned lists,’” the press center said.

Kalashnikov was able to completely replace the volume of supply in the U.S. in other markets
Concern "Kalashnikov" into new markets and was able not only completely replace the volume of supply to the U.S. market, which broke down because of sanctions, but also to sell weapons at a lower price.

Guess those guys over at mp.net that thought that Kalashnikov would be in trouble over sanctions, are wrong again.

As someone who's interested in getting higher education in engineering(preferably aeronautic or material science) in Russia and eventually working in defence there, this is very important to me. Is it true that you can't get a job in the russian defence R&D is you're not born in Russia, and even if you do, you can't leave the country out of fear of revealing classfied info?

Please tell me since I haven't found any specific info on this matter

Probably there're positions related to the military that require naturalisation and jobs that have a cooldown period before contract termination to avoid leakages since those are the main restrictions in most countries.

No idea about the news.. if true or not...

But if i were you ,i will not be worried.
Laws can have its exceptions.. If you are an excellent Student and you show
a lot of promise , they will find you a Job where you could work in the place you want.

So get the education first in Engineering if what you want.. marry a Russian girl and get citizenship and in 5 years it will take you to graduate many things can change. The worse thing
can happen is that after you graduate in Russia, and they say No.. you get a job in the European Space agency.. or any other ,like Japan whith a much higher salary ,but i don't think Russia government will allow any talented engineer to leave.. regardless of what any laws say. Nothing to worry.. really Good Scientist and Engineers are never rejected by any nation.

yeah vann exacly this is the problem. people want to make what they want with no push from someone else leave when they want and change their mind when they decide is the case to do it. you cannot go somewhere where is possible to no escape. and this is the reason why the countryes around russia want "freedom". they believe that under USA umbrella will have lot of freedom. .....well to them i tell one thing ......if they are right and want no master upon them then they should consider that changing to USA is just take another master upon them with different rules. they are just simply too small for totally own decision outside USA. USA call "stable countryes" those who serve them and let USA do what wants. everyone else is a threat to them.
all this hysteria got the common man of countryes near russia.

So they will lay off 17,000 troops and 30,000 civil personnell when the new ammunition depots open. So I suppose this will be one of the major cutbacks to army. So I suppose the new depots will be cheaper and easier to maintain the ammunitions?

Sucks that these people will lose their jobs.

Currently they have very low unemployment overall, so if there ever was a time to make cuts this would be it.

Also, previous method of storing ordinance had some ''explosive'' results...
