They defend Islamism, not democracy. To them, Erdogan is the new sultan.

There are two things that stick out here, either this coup was real and backed by the US, Israel and the Saudis and the government survived. If true this will put a huge dent in this evil realtion ship.

Second thing is that, this was a inside fake coup to give more power to Erdogan.

I think the second is probably more accurate.

Resistance wrote:So the US was doing the coup to kill Erdogan and establish secularism in Turkey? I thought so. The US backs SDF which is secular. Turkey backs Ahrar and Nusra which are Islamists.

    No.
US is always backing more than one bad guy , on any nation just in case one is not
loyal enough to their interest. In Ukraine Americans backup Poroshenko ,but also backup
TImoshenko and Bandera Ultra extremist groups too ,that oppose each other. So in such
important asset like Turkey ,it have to be like in Ukraine. Where the white house backup 2 or 3
factions.  And without an pro ISIS , PRO Alqaeda government in Turkey , the civil war in Syria
ends. Because ISIS and ALqaeda will lose support.  So it was Americans backing a sectarian Islamic puppet faction to overthrow another sectarian non puppet Islamic radical faction.
And Erdogan was attempted to be overthrow for not being loyal enough , not puppet enough
to American interest. Because is now softening a little its policies in Syria and changing its tune
against Russia at least in public. So Erdogan was evaluating to completely end its support to ISIS and Alqaeda.. only because Erdogan saw the monumental damage to Turkey economy ,Russian sanctions and noticed Americans lack of loyalty with Erdogan ,by supporting kurds too.
So erdogan was then changing its policy to a similar game of American and now to consider to give something both sides ,to have always doors open. with Russia and with US.

BUt after this attempt to his life and military coup , ERdogan will be full retard if he do not see, Americans will betray him at the first opportunity they can. and that he will do well in completely reversing his policies a cut all ties with ISIS And ALqaeda and NATO , and totally reverse its policies in Syria and move closer to Russia and IRAN, or at very least gradually move away from NATO and US policies to see if they end their support to Kurds that is erdogan major fear.

So is a non-secular military coup attempt , to an erdogan Government that was moving
towards a non-secular one. The difference is that Erdogan have its own independent interest too and seems to like money and prosperity more than Islam. and the military coup , for sure are full scale religious nuts.. Because its leader ,live for 15 years in USA, and it leads Islam Schools there. So if the military coup was successful ,then we will have seen probably Alqaeda and ISIS to be the biggest winners. With a Government more loyal to them. Erdogan motivations in Turkey seems to be more for Power ,more Nationalism. To Restore Ottoman Empire. While the coup military leader ,that leave safe in United States ,obviously will not mind to be a full scale puppet of the Americans ,like Saudis Are. they are more motivated by Islam ,than for any nationalism.

If Alqaeda or ISIS takes the lead in Ankara ,and gets in power there. it will be the biggest threat
to Russia ,since Hitler invasion of Poland. Because religious extremist do not measure consequences ,they are all motivated by Islam. and might turn Turkey into a suicide State ,
if convinced "Alah" will be happy Turkey to fight Russia. IF such a Total radical ,ISIS government takes control of Turkey , Russia will have to fight it in full scale using Kurds and overthrow it. since it represent a major threat to human civilization. in Russia and Europe.

SO Erdogan seems to be more a Nationalistic extremist , with world Power ambitions .ERdogan is more comparable with a muslin version of hitler. in seeking to create a major Empire at whatever cost. even if that means supporting extremism. But religion he use it as a tool to get support and not as a goal. While the religious fanatical military coup leaders ,like gullen for sure are not much interested in Politics or an Empire ,and their motivation is more radical Islam.  At the moment Turkey is not radical islam nation ,on its constitution .since womens are allowed to dress like Europeans on public more or less. but Erdogan was moving into a non secular direction.. but after this coup , he could reverse his blind support for American policies and Islam. Although Erdogan seem to be a little more pragmatic , like Putin is , and he will never say his real plans to the media and cannot openly reject Isis or Alqaeda ,since they are inside the country and will have to fight them if they see him as a traitor..

So until something better shows up  , Erdogan seems to be the less bad option for Turkey citizens, but only because he was moving in the direction to restore its relations with Syria, Russia and IRAN in order to stop Kurds for becoming too powerful and declaring its Independence with American support. Kurds occupy about 30% of Turkey territory and they all
fighting for its Independence. And Americans support them too.. to keep one card to play against the other.

For Russia and Europe and turkey citizens who believe in civilization anot oppose Barbarism ,the ideal faction to control power in turkey should be.. nothing less than Can Dundar and Erdem Gul, journalists from Turkey’s Cumhuriyet newspaper, who are in jail for exposing Erdogan support to ISIS and Alqaeda.

    https://www.rt.com/news/342120-turkish-court-jails-journalists/

You need balls of steel ,to come forward and directly put a risk your life ,or jail in exposing
Erdogan and support closer relations with Syria ,Europe and Russia. and good relations
with Kurds and support freedom and human rights. and totally reject Islamic terrorism.

The coup against Erdogan interestingly happened less than 24hours after Saudi ARabia foreign minister threatened turkey with a revolution if Erdogan normalize relations with Russia and Syria and betray the Rebels..he even told ,Turkey cannot do that because they are at risk of
    a revolution too.  Shocked

So likely the military coup attempt was organized by Saudi Arabia (reason while it was poorly implemented) by bribing military and with the full blessings of Americans. Now ERdogan got a taste of the loyalty of their NATO partners and middle east. That if NATO is successful in Syria ,Turkey will be next.  lol1    There is no way Americans will backup for a a life time Erdogan ,because he is too exposed into its relations with ISIS and Alqaeda and they will like to distance
from him. To clear its own image , and blame him for american weapons falling in ISIS and alqaeda hands.

Whatever things happens.. there is something now very clear.. and is that Erdogan no longer have friends. and his former closest allies US,UK and NATO and Saudis are now pushing to get rid of him . And that his only chance to stay in power after so many powerful enemies is to get closer to Russia ,China and IRAN. and restore relations with Syria ,because he alone in the world will have no chance to hold power for long. You only need to look as who is the new
prime minister in UK.. Nothing less than Boris ,who won the contest of insult against ERdogan by writing a song of Erdogan having sex with a goat. lol1

Idk, false-flagging/instigating a coup is pretty damn effective a splintering a country, that's a massive risk to take just to purge a few (okay maybe a lot) of your enemies. Also, news said something about him crying for asylum in Germany, that doesn't sound like someone in a position of confidence.

But, kudos to his police force, they seem like pretty hardcore loyal bastards. When you have AH-1Ws strafing your positions I'd be seriously considering losing the uniform and going home... which does raise another question as to why the hell they were so confident given the situation.

Seems like some of the leading figures of the coup just landed with a helicopter in Greece seeking asylum. This cements the facts that this was a USA job.

MOSCOW, July 16 (Sputnik) — After the military coup attempt in Turkey, the Bosphorus Strait was closed for tankers transporting oil, but not for the vessels carrying food supplies, the Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev said on Saturday.

"According to our information, the strait is closed only for [oil] tankers because of the threat that oil may ignite," Tkachev told RIA Novosti.

Looks like Turkey is back in the loving hands of Dear Sultan although coup crowd seems to have been of less secular variety than we thought.

They really had weak cards to play with and whole thing was pretty damn amateurish. What made them think they could pull it off without taking Doggie out first? And the fact that coup leaders fled to Greece does give weight to theories of coup origin **cough**Washington**cough**

One way or the other this is bad for Turkey as a country but good for pretty much everyone else.

On the funny side, after this shindig I think that it is only a matter of time before Erdogan starts wearing pearl encrusted turban in public... lol1

This coup failed, but that does not means Erdie is safe. Look at Ngô Đình Diệm,there was several unsuccessful coup against him but finally he still went into M113.

Russia just said that she is considering about granting asylum for Erdie, well probably it is time for Erdie to look for a new master.

    That only cofirms my theiss

    1) coup was proudly made in CIA/USA, was hasty and not well organized but because of short time. since Ergd said to Putin let´s resume relations till yes we want to resume Turkish Stream...

    2) Kerry brought coup on agenda oki you accept OUR conditions in Syria or Erdo will be out with any cooperation on gas and nuclear PP)

    3) Putin agrees to give Erdo asylum? and NATO counties to provide coup oranizers? hahaha can it be more clear? it´s like with open text to me

No things might be no good for US concept of remodeling of ME.  thumbsup

I wouldn't hold your breath this coup has failed thats clear has day who started it or why hard to say. all thats left now is some small pockets they will fall in no time.

Maybe it as a false coup, maybe the western powers had something to do with it.

Maybe some elements of the military really did wanna get rid of him.

all reasonable conclusions really given the facts.
