"Russian troops of the Eastern Military District (MD) artillery formation conducted first combat firings with the new long-range self-propelled cannon 2S7M Malka. This is an improved version of the Soviet-made 2S7 Pion with an increased rate of fire from 1.5 to 2.5 rds/min. During a tactical military exercise held with the Eastern MD artillery formation located in the Amur River Region, Russia, Russian soldiers performed a real live firing with the improved self-propelled artillery gun 203mm caliber called 2S7M "Malka" which is based on the the 2S7 Pion.

Crews of self-propelled cannons 2S7M Malka and Giatsint-S have performed combat tasks engaging command centres, SAM sites and hardware concentrations of simulated enemy at distances of more than 25 km. All targets were destroyed. The firings from the 203mm artillery systems Malka were held for the first time after rearmament of the artillery formation. The exercise had started on March 29 and will last until the end of the week.

The 2S7M Malka is the latest upgrade of the standard 2S7 Pion which is equipped with new communications equipment and can carry a total of eight 203 mm projectiles and charges.

In addition, rate of fire is increased from 1.5 to 2.5 rds/min, durability of the system has been improved and firing data can be transmitted directly to the gun.

Externally the only difference between them is a slightly lower engine deck (basically eliminating what the kit dubs parts R135, R131 and R110) behind the armored cab. "Malka" uses one less crewman."

Probably means they will just be built with high % of composites on reflecting surfaces. I wouldnt go with "stealth bridges" term here. But sure, it will in theory increase chance to survive, but my issue whith this idea is that, bridges most of the time are being detected by visual recon rather than aperiture radars. Also Americans almost always over Serbia in 1999. used TV and laser guided ammunition aganist our bridges.

The Russian army has adopted an anti-complex "Metis-M1"

The Ministry of Defence has decided to adopting a new anti-missile system (ATGM) "Metis-M1." The decision on the new system was made in November last year and was finally approved on the eve of the Victory Day. Prior to that, since 2004, a promising system supplied exclusively for export.

"Metis-M1" was created in the Design Bureau of Instrument (included in the holding "Precision Systems"). According to its weight and size characteristics is the only system that can really move on the battlefield without a vehicle either. Russian ATGM "Cornet", "Fagot" and "Competition" are considered to be due to the weight of the launcher and the container with the rocket conditionally tolerated.

New ATGM can be used with a fixed launcher in the form of a tripod, and from shoulder soldier - from lying down, standing up. This significantly extends the range of the use of weapons. The new missile is used as a shaped-charge warhead designed to destroy light armored vehicles, and a new, high-explosive, allowing destroy the infantry on the battlefield and destroy enemy fortifications. Compared to its predecessor, the "Metis-M1" increased range to engage targets. Today it is 2 km away.
