And the Russian Ministry of Defense has a tender out to dispose of a large number of these missiles. Would be nice to put them to work instead.

    Disposal ATGM

Defense Ministry plans to utilize up to 20 November 2016:

    - 5157 9M111 missiles, 800 missile 9M111-2 and 1009 missiles 9M111M to ATGM "Fagot"
    - 2220 missile 9M115 ATGM for "Metis"
    - 973 ATGM 9M113 missiles to "contest".

    The composition utilized rockets:

    9M111 (cost of recycling 1 rocket - 991 rubles 21 kopecks)

I wonder how effective these dummies are. They were quite effective in 1999 during the NATO gang rape of Serbia.

    Changes the playing field...

Not quite.  I think the SAF uses low altitude attacks as before.

Anyway, taking out such launchers will be a high priority for the RAF.    They should use anything they have to do it, including
dumb bombs.   If the terrorists use human shields, that is just collateral damage.   Russia cannot allow human shielded SAM systems
to be installed in Syria.   Let NATO propagandists scream all they want.

FWIW A report from Colonel Cassad's site. It seems the aircraft was hit shortl after taking off. The report says there were two pilots on board, one ejected safely and the other tried to return to base, but died in the crash.

    https://z5h64q92x9.net/proxy_u/ru-en.en/colonelcassad.livejournal.com/2655834.html

    He does note:

"It should be noted that this loss could seriously hamper the efforts of the Americans on charges of the Russian Federation and Syria the armistice, as it's extremely difficult to justify why the "peaceful militants" shot down combat aircraft."

They won't show up on infra-red imaging so they aren't going to fool the RuAF or any ground troops with infra-red imagers.

"The first victim (of the war) was the truth," said Lazarevic, who headed the army's Pristina Corps during the conflict. Lazarevic, speaking at the bomb-damaged headquarters of the Third Army in the southern Serbian city of Nis, put its losses at 13 tanks, 10 armoured personnel carriers as well as some artillery pieces - well below Western estimates.

"The truth is that the losses in military equipment were minimal," he said in an interview. "Never before in the history of warfare have such low losses been seen."

    NATO claims:

"Nato planes flew more than 3,000 bombing missions, for the loss of one plane to enemy fire, during the 79-day war from late March to June last year. After 1,955 of those missions, pilots reported hitting their targets (some claims were duplicates). •93 Yugoslav tanks were hit (out of a rough total of 600) - 26 of them "catastrophically" destroyed and 67 severely damaged. 153 armoured personnel carriers were hit (out of an estimated 600). •389 artillery and mortar pieces were struck"

Of course, this refers to the transfer of these systems to Russia's allies in the antiterrorist alliance, and the cost of recycling refers to modifying the systems to the export standards, as even a nonexport 9M111 is impossible to export.

The pace of advance has slowed considerably. In January SAA captured Selma and Rabia. In February SAA captured Kinsabba. In March SAA still failed to capture Kabani or Hayat. Because Russia stopped attacking rebels after the ceasefire agreement was signed.

There is no point for me to follow Syria just like there is no point for me to follow Ukraine. It is another frozen conflict where the pro Russia side is forbidden by Russia from liberating the country from evil.

Nusra says will launch HUGE offensive from Idlib province once Russian planes have left. Looks like Hama city would fall this time. We've seen how incompetent SAA is. SAA lost Idlib province in March last year basically run away with tails between their legs.
