And a real test of Russian production quality. Shoddy construction would fail under extreme temperature stresses. But
the average Russia hating fanboi would have no clue. Their wisdom comes from reading internet fora and picking their noses.

I wonder, with all the awe and respect for US aircraft carriers, maybe Russia should build a few and cruise them around just
    to scare these peasants.

    That is the plan .

Carrier (sky jump) + T-50 + new engine -> full upgrade of the US air defense systems -> 0.5-1% of GDP of the US for 10 years.

One of the MiG-29K landed with 3 drop tanks (1 centerline and 2 on the wings).
So, they took off from the Kuzya with that much weight.

    Home at last.

The Russian Admiral Kuznetsov aircraf-carrying cruiser returned from Syria and entered the Kola Bay near the country’s northern port city of Severomorsk on Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

SEVEROMORSK (Sputnik) — Residents of Severomorsk gathered at the city’s main square to welcome the carrier’s crew members, who have been on a mission in the Northeast Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea since October 15, 2016.

On February 9, the crew members will take part in the welcoming ceremony with the participation of representatives of the Russian Navy command, the Northern Fleet command and Murmansk region and Severomorsk city administrations.

    Short version

Dunno if anyone else caught it but to help with resupplies to K group & due to absence of an appropriate ship (why I don't understand?) they sent out a floating crane from BSF.
A floating crane thats basically just a pontoon with a crane on it, designed for only port work.

    Now there is pics http://nortwolf-sam.livejournal.com/1831982.html

Various new/in-build ships like Proj 23120 will mean its not necessary in future

According to the RNS news agency, the modernization of the only Russian heavy aircraft carrier "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov" will begin at the end of May at a repair plant in the Murmansk region, it will take almost two years, sources in the shipbuilding industry and the fleet told RNS.

    - Possible Granit refurbishment or replacement with never rocket system.
    - Repair of propulsion.

I'd suggest that there is ZERO chance that the K will retain her Granits.  UKSK VLS are a virtual certainty, while new radars and short range SAMs would be very likely.

For sure they will remove them. Their are made to be fired in salvos, if they are planning to remove them from Oscars and Kirovs, 12 of them will be useless on the K. A lonely salvo of 12 Granits won't go through the defences of a carrier group. Fo their size you can put 8 times more UKSK or more space for fighters and missiles storage.

Replacing Granit missiles with UKSK will very increase Kuz fire power, specially if they will be armed with Kalibr LACMs with nuclear warheads.

Granits are gone that is for certain (they want to clear that space in the front) but I would bet good money that they will drop couple of UKSKs on it. They are so compact when compared to old stuff that you can easily fit them next to AA missiles in the back with room to spare (AAs are getting replaced too)

My guess, they will go with UKSK / Redut combo.

Highly likely that a significant amount of that type of armament will be retained as the ship will need to continue to be legally primarily a heavy cruiser, with a secondary aircraft carrying capability, rather than a full blown aircraft carrier if it is still a requirement for her to enter the Black Sea.

By the book, Kuz even today shouldnt be able to enter Black Sea.

Given that she is primarily concerned with AA missions to extend air superiority to cover fleet operations, I don't see why the K would ever be needed in the Black Sea.  Russian land-based aviation (and S400 battalions) will meet any conceivable needs that the BSF could ever require.
