Also can some one tell me if Dead Hand is a fool proof system for any bolt from blue stikes that can occur ?

    I would assume so.

Hard to say for sure since it's a military secret. Some reports say it's fully automatic others that it's semi-automatic (duty officers would have to activate it in case the leadership gets killed). The "Dead Hand" a.k.a Perimeter is said to be headquartered in the massive secret underground complex at Mt. Yamantau. It's reportedly covers an area of 500 km2 and is approximately the size of Washington DC but underground. It can reportedly withstand a dozen ICBM direct hits.

Arrow Some info in English: http://www.viewzone.com/yamantau.html

Mt. Yamantau from a anti Putin video. They're saying that since coming to power, Putin has doubled the amount of money going into the complex and has personally supervised the works there.

    Thanks Cyberspec

But do these Dead Hand System and Cheget system really work as designed , is there any proof that these were tested and worked.

Most importantly will these work with Moscow and other key places in Russia receive massive nuclear hits from NATO and US ......i guess there is no way to know if this will ever work

It had to have undergone tests before being inducted into service but I guess to only way to know for sure if it's used for real....something that we hopefully won't have to witness.

Sounds like it's semi-automatic according to most publicly available info

Perimeter ensures the ability to strike back, but it's no hair-trigger device. It was designed to lie semi-dormant until switched on by a high official in a crisis. Then it would begin monitoring a network of seismic, radiation, and air pressure sensors for signs of nuclear explosions. Before launching any retaliatory strike, the system had to check off four if/then propositions: If it was turned on, then it would try to determine that a nuclear weapon had hit Soviet soil. If it seemed that one had, the system would check to see if any communication links to the war room of the Soviet General Staff remained. If they did, and if some amount of time—likely ranging from 15 minutes to an hour—passed without further indications of attack, the machine would assume officials were still living who could order the counterattack and shut down. But if the line to the General Staff went dead, then Perimeter would infer that apocalypse had arrived. It would immediately transfer launch authority to whoever was manning the system at that moment deep inside a protected bunker—bypassing layers and layers of normal command authority. At that point, the ability to destroy the world would fall to whoever was on duty: maybe a high minister sent in during the crisis, maybe a 25-year-old junior officer fresh out of military academy. And if that person decided to press the button ... If/then. If/then. If/then. If/then.

Very Interesting , Wonder if Dead Hand is limited to land based ICBM or the signals can be extended to Sea and Air Launched System too incase of bolt from blue strike.

Atleast if it gets extended to Sea based system then there are always SSBN on patrol that can then launch their package if need be.

Austin ,give up on that; nobody ,with even only a fragment of information on this specific subject, will ever say even only a single word on this to you, sorry.

Probably you are right , I am just too curious on matters where perhaps the real answers may not come at all

Scary thing. I read about it some while ago.

There is no man input once computer decides its time to launch. Did you watched Terminator-4 (i think) Very Happy

    An interesting article about "Cheget"

    The Russian Nuclear Button

There are 3 Cheget briefcases, one for the president, other 2 held by the defense minister and the chief of the general staff, as was the case in Soviet times.

Dead Hand /(perimeter) is not so "Secret" , the Russian Government state media ,under a Putin
    close friend advertised it.. lol1

Such information will never show up in Russia state media by the main news anchor ,close friend of Putin.. unless it was ordered to do it.. in other words.. this was a message for Americans..

Dead Hand basically what the system does.. is that it connects all Nuclear weapons ready to use Intercontinental Missiles.. and SUbmarines ICBM.. to the system..  and if a major nuclear
attack happens in Russia ,that eliminate all RUssia government leadership.. the system automatically retaliate to America with everything Russia have.. without intervention of any human..

This means that once Deadhand automated system is activated.. the decision to launch a full scale nuclear strike on America is removed from the president and given instead
to a computer.  Cool   Apparently according to wiki.. based of defectors from the KGB ,there are sensors on all Russian major cities that detect seismic activity +radioactivity and nuclear detonation.. that detect whether or not a nuclear detonation happened or not... If detect nuclear attack...the system will try to contact/phone the Russian leadership using deep underground communications lines. If no one answer , then the system automatically start the launch codes to the retaliation and launch nuclear strike in retaliation to US strategic targets and cities..

What this means is that once Dead Hand system is activated.. Is Impossible to stop a full scale
nuclear retaliation on america.. if Russia attacked. the only way to stop it.. is if ,the President and defense minister are alive and stop it.. (once a nuclear attack happened).

So this is very useful system ,because this means ,the President of Russia will NOT have to take the decision to launch nukes.. instead his decision will only be of Stopping the system ,to launch nuclear retaliation.  Launching nukes is not the same thing of aborting the launch of them.. the last one make it more probable that the retaliation will happen ,because only requires that the President do nothing..   But if the leadership is killed in a nuclear attack..it will
be impossible to stop it..deadhand can only be stopped by the president and or defense minister.

The suitcase is more a communication center with all Russia government and armed forces leadership in case of emergency , but also can be used to activate nuclear forces and start a nuclear attack.

This system is very clever.. because this means ,that if americans do a preventive nuclear strike on Russia and the president/defense minister dies.. it will be impossible to stop a full scale nuclear retaliation.. In essence Deadhand is a good deterrence. tool.. Because the pressure will be on the side of Americans to make sure with all the Intelligence services they have and all the power and influence .that neither them or their allies and ,neither ISIS by "Accident" get a nuke and by "Accident" is detonated in Russia.

So deadhand automatically do a full scale nuclear retaliation.. if activated.. and Russia attacked by nukes. The above video cannot be understimated.. he is an insider of Putin and every word
he told ,had to be carefully crafted ,by Putin and its Staff.. so you do not provoke a major world crisis.. but at the same time that you give a Big warning to the west. So everything he told ,
was 100% approved by the President. and he advice Americans to read about death hand..and
the mushrom cloud behind was also part of the message. Smile

Please do not mislead people, they are scared as it is.

At no point is Perimetr EVER fully automated. All launch authority ALWAYS lies in human hands.

What Perimetr does is pre-allocates launch authority to unit commanders in case if national command authority (president, minister of defense, chief of general staff) are killed.

However, the final decision to turn the launch keys would still lie with humans, the commanders of each separate missile battery or submarine. Perimetr simply gives the technological means to initiate launch without waiting for direct orders from the Kremlin, if Russia is under a direct nuclear attack.
